BethSarim: There HAS to be a scapegoat. A ''sacrificial lamb'' of sorts.
The real sacrificial lambs are the JWs who die for the profit of the "bloodless" industry.

vidiot: Frankly, I'm surprised this hasn't happened more often.
(Or maybe it just hasn't been reported too much until now.

For decades, the WatchTower Society has repeatedly portrayed its' Jehovah's Witness members as "the most honest people on earth", supposedly because Jehovah's Witnesses are members of "the only true religion on earth". The following state and federal employment related criminal and civil court cases are not intended as evidence that Jehovah's Witness Employees are more dishonest than other employees, but rather are intended to demonstrate that Jehovah's Witnesses are just as dishonest, or honest, as are other members of the human population -- whether religious or non-religious.
Mounting evidence, however, seems to indicate that a higher than normal percentage of Jehovah's Witness Investments-Insurance Salespersons are turning to crime. See below all the Investments-Insurance related cases which have become public over the past decade just since the flood of information provided by the internet. (Just for fun, try to keep track of how many times the word "California" occurs just on this first page of this 10-page section.)
back in my teen years this story swept through jw land, that according to, the guinness book of records , freddy franz, was listed as one of the seven, most intelligent , men in the world.
dose anyone else remember this?
i remember trying to look it up, but never found anything in print, and ii point that out once or twice , and was told a co, had told about it, and he wouldn't lie!
sparky: Statements like this perpetuate the man and his myth
And statements about how brilliant he was.
Predicting Armageddon in 1975 was brilliant, wasn't it? Brilliant of him to do the math on that one. Pure brilliance. Outstanding. A sign of real intelligence, for sure.
i know this sounds like a ridiculous question but i was talking with my mom in the car today and of course we got on the topic of getting babtized again.
she told me that jehovah holds me accountable for my sins regardless of wether i am babtized or not so i have no reason to be holding back because it won't change anything.
my parents are the type of super strict jw who will shun you just for not being a witness.
blackwolf: They also don't care that Jesus was babtized when he was 30 (their excuse is that people lived longer back then lol)
Ummm...you might want to google that, Blackwolfgirl. And then show it to your parents.
Life expectancy during the time that Jesus would have lived was shorter than it is today, not longer.

Yeah, Sparrow. I feel like Alice in Wonderland sometimes.
Down the rabbit hole we go...it gets pretty nuts - it makes your head explode at times.

I don't think your mother has the WT doctrine down correctly. It has been a loooong time since I was a JW, but, back in the day....what she told you would be incorrect.
The teaching at the time that I was active was that the ones held accountable for the sins of an unbaptized minor are the parents.
Children are judged upon the sins of the mother and father. It is your mother that has to watch herself, not you. She is responsible for your 'salvation' based upon her behaviour, not yours.
She wants you to get baptized to relieve herself of that responsibilty.
Baptism is not the solution to loneliness but rather, it is the path to permanent isolation.
Hang in there, Blackwolf....just a couple more years and the world is yours. It is just waiting for you to join it.

sparrowdown: I am finding threads leading back to WT that are just as someone else has said - bizarre.
Yes, some of the connections are bizarre.
When I was exploring down one rabbit hole, I discovered a company owned by a JW -Guenther Reibling (Lorenz's brother) - that, like the company under discussion in this thread, was also concerned with the biofuel market.
Funny thing is, that company morphed into a marijuana growing company - still owned by Reibling.
"Biofuel" --->>> marijuana.
Makes sense. ;)

mynameislame: Note their web page is http://watchtowerdocuments.org/ which appears to be an exjw site?
I am not sure that the site you link to is all that reliable.
Watchtowerdocuments.org is Barbara Anderson's site.

okay, so at the "imitate their faith" ca there was a special speaker from the gb.
and he started discussing psalms 1:1 and how we today could "sit in the seat of scoffers".
he then mentioned that many bros. and sisters criticize the org and think they are so smart by researching online.
