  What is the "Social Currency" for witnesses?

  while flying recently for work, i overheard a conversation about the "social currency" that people in the community or workplace have.. for example, a manager or boss yields more power (obviously) over those below him or her.. but one person observed that other factors have value.

  for example a parent may have more value in some circles, while being childless may help in others.. looks or how someone carries themselves may also give value.. so it made me think, what is the social currency amongst witnesses?

  what gives them power, status, validation or value?.

  Bizarre.

  The guy is a clown and an idiot.

  Keep in mind that this is the guy who quit school at 14, became a missionary, and somehow emerged as one of the 7 dwarfs who are in charge of a world-wide corporation.

  And, Jackson is the one who is in charge of the writing department. He would have been responsible for the new anti-gay kiddy cartoon and the video "we are in a bunker while the gay moms and bad people smash bottles outside".

  The whole time he was talking about happiness being like growing hair...I couldn't help but wonder why he doesn't have any hair. And then, at the end, I found out why...Satan took his hair!

  It always has been.

  Fluosol-DA, the first blood substitute that FDA approved, made it to market through the use of the JWs. This was back in the 80s (*Nov 1979) and the JWs were deliberately targeted by the Japanese doctor who developed it as a blood substitute. The initial arrangements to use the JWs for a trial group was launched through the efforts of Dr. Ron Lapin and his JW co-horts - the early HLC fellows.

  Fluosol was later taken off the market.

  pistoff: Orphan, are you saying elders submit statistics from individual cases up to headquarters, and they pass them on to companies that are developing blood substitutes?

  Yes. They would have to - it would be part of the "package deal" in how the product would be able to be accessed.

  The only way that HBOC-201 is available is by accessing it through the Englewood Hospital's clinical trial under compassionate use. Once a person uses HBOC-201/Hemopure, the patient's records are automatically used by the researching team - led by Aryeh Shander. That process would be admissible simply by the patient giving consent through the Advance Directive.

  By the way...I would think that anyone who had thought, back in the late 90s and early 2000s, that Hemopure was the way of the future, and invested heavily into that company, through all its twists and turns, flips and flops, and re-locations, would be taking a big hit right about now.

  *edit to add - just another thought...if you check out the last pdf I linked to, you can find out why that Advance Directive is SO important to the WT right now and why it so critical for them to have it on file, readily accessible

  Some background on how the clinical trial of Hemopure that is being conducted by Aryeh Shander (SABM) at Englewood Hospital came about. The trial only lists the manufacturer, HBO2 Theapeutics, as a sponsor. But, the US Navy was involved in the applications for approval.

  This was written in 2009:

  The U.S. Navy and the manufacturer of Hemopure had submitted to the FDA another proposed trial in trauma patients. In December 2006, the FDA's Blood Products Advisory Committee voted eleven to eight that the benefits of this proposed phase 3 trial did not outweigh the risks for individual patients (http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/ac/06/briefing/2006-4270B1-index.htm). The Navy Medical Research Center and the manufacturers of Hemopure have since submitted a new protocol for a phase 2 out-of-hospital trauma study, but the FDA has placed this trial on clinical hold.34

  Pardon me. I have to make a correction.

  I had said in my previous post: "There are also some clinical trials being conducted in Europe - and again...targeting patients who refuse blood."

  That is incorrect - I was confused with the clinical trials in Germany for the implementation of blood management programs.

  The news about the world of artificial blood is rather quiet at the moment.
