being a recognized religion here in australia i heard they get government funding.....if this is true, i don;t see why as they seem to do okay funding themselves .
Yes, they get government grants.
The WTS received a nice grant from some New York association...right before they sponsored the film "Knocking"

Andro, so you are the only one in your family that is a JW? Almost your whole family are medical professionals? What do they think about your approach to religious thought? Does your approach clash with their ideas of the world?
Nah
Andro, you have never been a JW. Never were and aren't now
they say women are hard to figure out.
she is is proactive about retirement planning but talks about how things might be in the new system.
she shuns one of our children (dfd) but put him as beneficiary one one of her life insurance policies.
I don't think it has anything to do with being a woman, hoser
Your wife is just hedging her bets. The same as lots of JWs do. And lots of other people too in other situations
Haha! She is an agnostic JW and doesn't know it yet

andromeda: @orphancrow I really wish to stay on the subject at hand. If you're interested in something else go create a new post.
Well...I was trying to
I thought that your comments about blood were relevant to the discussion about biblical laws/covenants concerning the Sabbath
I thought it was relevant context and I was interested in your position on blood in comparison to how you think about the Sabbath because you seem to take a literal approach to biblical understanding
If your concerns about the Sabbath are to be as accurate as possible in how you understand it...do you take the same "orthodox" approach to the blood covenant?

Andro, my apologies. I was only responding to what you had said
Please stay on track so we know what we are supposed to discuss...you have wandered all over the place and made some pretty far fetched claims on a thread that you claim is about the sabbath
i am just trying to catch up...lots of claims being flung around here

andromeda: I did not finished medical school due to a car accident. However, I have a sister who is a doctor, her husband is an anesthesiologist, my cousin and her husband are both doctors, my uncle is a doctor, my other sister is a nurse and have many other family members in various fields of medicine. As you can imagine this subject is a common subject amongs us.
Thank you for answering
That is quite the impressive medical family...all JWs?
Anyways, you can read the apocryphal books and draw your own conclusions
Oh
I was interested in which of the books you have read that you draw your conclusions about blood from. I assumed that such a decisive statement would be simple to back up. You know...so I don't have to go back and read all that copious amount of literature just to figure out what you are talking about. You know...communication...so that we are on the same page sort of, and so that I can evaluate your claims about blood. Blood interests me and seeing as you were the one who brought up your medical knowledge and such...and I also sort of like all that old 'sacred' literature you talked about

Andro: Also I went to medical school...
That is so cool
I have wanted to talk to someone just like you for a long time now. I have so many questions you can help me out with
I hope you don't mind answering them for me.
To start:
1) what medical school did you attend?
2) what program were you enrolled in?
3) did you graduate and if you did, have you, or do you, work(ed) in the medical field?
I have more questions about specific noblood procedures and how they apply to the JW patient but I will get to them after you tell me a bit more about your level of knowledge and what your specialty/training etc has been
Thanks

andro: The bible mentions many books some of which are not available to us today and I must believe that they are from God otherwise why mention them in the scriptures at all? Some that are available to us today I have read and touch the blood subject much more profoundly. No blood by any means
Please reference a source for this.
What books have you read that "touch the blood subject much more profoundly"?
Please expand
