  Interracial Relationships and JWs

  i've noticed that within the past couple of decades, i don't see a lot of interracial relationships (ir, for short) in the org.. i, myself, was involved in an ir over 2-3 decades ago and was engaged to get married [my ethnicity is: african-american and latina; my ex-fiance's ethnicity is: scottish and italian].

  he broke off the engagement, after three years of friendship and two years of dating, because his uncle and another brother (who was a temporary volunteer at bethel) pressured him to end our relationship [p.s.

  : his mother was quite close to my mother, one of my sisters and one of my close cousins.

  We need more work done on the blood issue from this angle

  The WTS has indoctrinated the fear of blood into its followers by misrepresenting the risks involved. They emphasize the risks of a blood transfusion but they NEVER talk about the risks associated with the alternative treatments that they promote

  The risks associated with blood transfusions are minuscule in comparison to the risks of those alternative treatments

  Poor Sisters

  i really felt for you sisters i mean i really did.

  when you showed up at the sunday meeting and found out the subject of the talk was going to be -and i can't quite remember the exact wording- but something to the effect of marriage and headship, or honoring and obeying your husband, or something like that how many of you wanted to jump right back in your car and head home.

  i mean 45 straight minutes of beating down you poor ladies and telling you that you are not worthy of making one decision, taking the lead in anything, don't question the man be obedient and keep quiet.

  Sorry, tenacious, but I stand by my assertion. This approach is wrong:

  "The brothers should have told the sister not to attend the meetings or do anything that would make her husband fly off the handle. "

  This is an approach that places the responsibility of the violent person's actions on the victim. This is not an approach that works. It does NOT work to be compliant.This is a myth that is prevalent in society that needs to be corrected and encouraging this behavior is what keeps the cycles of violence active

  They overlook the biological fact that when a woman is PMSing, that she is the most like a man in hormone production. The reason we are unable to function mentally...is because we function like men at that time!!!!

  And, that whole thing about 'genderless' is bullshit - the depictions in the illustrations always show the 144,000 as male and only male. I guess when Jehobah 'perfects' them that the perfect gender will be male.

  The women being allowed admittance to that privileged class was, I believe, a way that the early women in the movement, with influence in the society, were appeased. They had no 'real' power other than their financial donations, and they were handed the golden ticket to keep them happy. I am thinking of those women who Russell named in his will and who he referred to as "his bride" or..."the bride of Christ". And the wealthy women who were JWs - like the Heath women - one married to the Coca Cola tycoon and another married to the president of the World Bank. Those women and women like them. Money but the wrong anatomical makeup. So...they got to drink the wine and get the promise of being made over into men who rule with Christ

  Hadriel: Seems like most of these situations are with those whose offense happened in the 80's or before the mid 90's. At least it appears that way.

  I have been following this on reddit

  This man was in prison when he was converted by JWs. They knew he was a child rapist. When he was released, he became a good, active JW - so good in fact, that the elders allowed him to do activities with kids (except the elder's kids)

  He wasn't lost in the shuffle - he was groomed by the elders themselves while he was still inside his jail cell and then, after he was released, the elders 'kept an eye on him'

  hadriel: ...if you can prove how RNA became DNA how amino acids were charged beginning the chaining of life you'll get a Nobel Price if you can't you MUST accept other possibilities and that is really all I'm saying.

  Can you please define what you mean by "other possibilities"? I don't really understand your statement

  Saying "...you MUST accept other possibilities" leads me to assume that you mean that if someone cannot offer an explanation scientifically for how RNA became DNA...then the only recourse they have is to accept this undetermined "other".

  That makes no sense. Science does not work like that
