Awesome
I haven't donated for several years but I have a few times in the past
I give back when I can because someone gave their blood so I could live
A blood transfusion saved my life
so i donate blood because i can.
i donate every 4 months when the bloodmobile comes to my place of work.
i know it helps.. what about you, do you donate blood?

the lyrics to the song, "twinkle, twinkle, little star," are an example of apostrophe (not an apostrophe).
learn something new every day!.
twinkle, twinkle, little star, how i wonder what you are.
(as per our prior discussion concerning "apostrophe", Coco)
Apostrophe as an utterance:
The orator "turns away" from the audience and addresses an inaminate object - as in..."O death" or..."O God", etc
Apostrophe in this sense is a "turning away"
Apostrophe as a mark:
The symbol ' stands in for that which is not said. It signifies that part of speech which is "left out". That which is not uttered. Left out, not communicated by anything other than a "mark"
Which then leads, logically, to "apostate"
The one who has "turned away". The one who has no utterance.
"Turned away" and "left out"
We are apostrophes. We are marked.

The Bible's most famous/wellknown apostrophe:
Matthew 6:9-13
when i was serving as an elder about 10 years ago, the wt legal department's main number could not be reached on the weekends.
does anyone know if they have since made themselves available to elders 24/7?.
the most recent instructions i could find (october 1, 2012 letter to boe) still say the first thing elders are to do when becoming aware of an accusation of child sexual abuse is to "immediately" call watchtower legal.
OpenMind: the first thing elders are to do when becoming aware of an accusation of child sexual abuse is to "immediately" call Watchtower legal
The phone call to Bethel has nothing at all to do with the how to help the victim. The phone call establishes a client-attorney relationship between the org lawyers and the elders.
The purpose is largely to set up a situation where any information shared will fall under client-attorney privilege and therefore be confidential
The elders are being told to lawyer up
i have to make a token appearance at the k.h.
once a month or so and this week went to a different hall.
and believe me they are all still totally oblivious to all the negative news about the pedophiles and shunning that have come under scrutiny by the media and other governments.
Slim: Have you got any evidence that Watchtower has made money from their blood policy or literacy programme?
Oh geez. Here we go again.
The minute something is proposed that doesn't fit in someone's world view, they jump up and down and say "evidence! evidence!". Of course there is no evidence the org has made money from those things. As has been said on here over and over and over again...the org's finances are not transparent.
We know that the org is involved in both blood management and literacy programming. That is without question. That evidence has been presented many times over on this forum.
When a corporation invests in something, that investment indicates a money making opportunity and there is no question that the org has invested in patient blood management. No question. Over the years, they have spent lot$$$$ of money promoting their brand of medicine. At least, until they turned that activity over to prominent bloodless JWs and the SABM. And as well, they have invested in literacy. Even got awards for it.
How much has the org made? No idea. Have they profited? How much? Again, no idea.
Open the books. I will answer your question.

Inferences will get you into all sorts of trouble, Slim.
Yes I said that. And I inferred that the "true rich believers" were the ones from developed, Western countries. It was only after I proposed that scenario that I spoke about 3rd world countries.
It is the perfect 21st C religion - based on a model of colonialism. Keep all the loyal ones in developed countries who will donate lot$ of money to keep their charitable contribution level to a taxed out maximum. What the charitable drive is for is those 3rd world countries that I mentioned. Easy peasy - get rid of excess baggage and dead weight in the Western world, keep them uninformed about what is really going on with the org's financial health and what is happening globally, get rid of dead weight real estate, disfellowship the rabble rousers, and go mainly to an online charity type model. And sit on all the cash they have already.
And...stay active in all those countries that are well-poised for pushing patient blood management. And those countries are ideal for dumping off all the literature that the org still prints by engaging in literacy programs.
Does the org need to grow? Not really - it only needs to grow on the top end to be successful. Why do you think the anointed number has been rising? Sure, there are those 'anointed' peons who are deluded into thinking that they are special, but what about if there is a growing "top class" membership? What if the sipping of the wine goes along with the growth of the upper $lice?
Is it a master plan? Who knows? it doesn't really matter. But we do know that the org has made some major changes in the past decade or so that has resulted in what we see now.

slim: OrphanCrow I think you are right that the GB don't want growth in third world countries
Slim, I didn't say that.
In "fact", I said the exact opposite

Oh. I didn't know that, Coco. I appreciate the feedback.
I have a confession: every time I type a post here, I am so conscious of my diction and my grammar, etc! I know you scrutinize and it makes me both nervous and pleased. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I have been thinking...about Slim's comment:
Facts don't speak for themselves. That's why I assemble them and deploy them in a pleasing and compelling fashion
So I thought it might be fun to take the same liberty and rearrange "facts" in a compelling fashion
Here is a theory (heehee...yeah, just a theory, no conspiracy about it...a compelling theory, you might say)
I imagine being one the dudes at the top. On the top of the WT heap and I look down from my lofty perch and see the unruly masses. So many of them. Too many that are misbehaving and too many that you could certainly do without.
What if, Slim, the "decline" in membership is deliberate and wanted by the powers who be? What if the org has decided that it is best to pare down and get rid of those who aren't loyal (true believers only) and those who will donate more more money ( true rich believers only need apply)?
And here is something else. We don't know what is going on elsewhere but we have hints. We do know that the org has literature going into school systems in a third world country. What if that is happening is several 3rd world countries?
We also know that JWs in African countries are petitioning their governments for money to put into their publishers acting as literacy teachers. Is the huge printing plant that was recently built in South Africa still operational? What is happening there?
And speaking of Africa...what a fertile ground for bloodless medicine. Huge potential there. Huge. The JWs who are high up in the world of patient blood management have been grooming Africa for years. What a great hook up. That great big continent in need of blood so bad. And China - again a country groomed by JW bloodless guys. And India...and South America.
Is the org collapsing?
I doubt it
Will there be a mass exodus soon?
Not a mass exodus but a decline for sure. And maybe an orchestrated decline - 8 million is a lot to keep a handle on. A decline in the Western world at least. Not in developing and 3rd world countries. Growth there. Potential galore.

Sokay, Morph. I am being entertained
Slim is the consummate postmodern poster - you get a different version dependent upon, like you said, the weather
It's this part that is worth a chuckle at the same time that it is revealing:
Slim :Facts don't speak for themselves. That's why I assemble them and deploy them in a pleasing and compelling fashion
Yeah. I know. What you do is twist the facts, massage them, and put your own spin on them. Commonly, that is called deception and manipulation. Facts do not require compelling language. Compelling language conveys emotions, not facts.
Fact turned into fiction
Good news though, you can copyright fiction
