  take away guns and they will find knives, poison, bombs , etc.. seriously, there are a lot of mentally unhealthy people!

  Incorrect reading/reporting of news items and listening to people chatter will lead to the myth building around mental health and violence. And that is why the myth of mental illness and violence is persistent

  95% percent of violent crime is committed by people who are not mentally ill and only 5 percent of those who are mentally ill will be violent (often towards themselves rather than others).

  so my mum died from mild form of lukemia which can simply be treated with a blood transfusion each month.

  to me this was a watchtower assisted suicide.

  the liaison elder encouraged her to "stay strong" and said a prayer.

  i had this argument with my grandmother and uncles about scandals that the jw's covered up and whatnot, and they won't budge.

  i brought up the australian royal commission and of course they laughed.

  they then said that the governing body has never lost a sexual abuse case but the "person" who did the crime got charged.

  Yeah...you have to have two witnesses to your mental health problems in order to get to see him and when you do, he writes you out a prescription for the proper Bibble verses to read that will cure you

  Simon: The JWs are nowhere near as bad as the Jonestown massacre cult where close to 100% of the members died and outside investigators were murdered.

  You are right. 100% of JWs don't face the blood death sacrifice. Only some of them do.

  Instead of all the JWs dying for lack of blood....only some are called to the altar of blood.

  I am not sure what you are saying, Simon.

  However, I do know that the "evidence" that you need likely will never happen.

  A couple years ago, I invested a great deal of time into trying to establish that evidence that so many people are skeptical of. I spent weeks extrapolating 70 years of data from the Canadian census and the JW yearbooks to break down age estimates in order to use those figures for a statistical analysis of blood deaths in the JW population.

  I was working with a statistician from the university who was the department head of the math department. Everything was going really well and all we had to do was wait for original data from several medical studies that had been published that showed the higher risk that JWs face when they refuse a blood transfusion. And that is when we ran into a problem. None of the researchers that Dr. V had contacted asking for original data had answered him. No answer from any of them - they totally ignored his attempts to get the data. Dr. V said that it was the first and only time that had happened to him.

  And that is why I doubt that an accurate estimate can ever be done: The medical establishment will not release the original data on JWs. They circle the wagons.

  And my death estimate project was dead in the water.

  No, that is not the claim.

  The claim is this: roughly speaking 3600 JWs plus or minus will face this situation each year in the US alone

  Facing the situation does not mean dying from the situation. It means just that: Facing the situation that they need blood. The claim does not say: dying from lack of blood

  Extrapolating how many will actually die from that blood refusal is based on medical studies that estimate the risk that JWs face that exceeds the deaths in the general population who also face the same situation. The death estimates take into account the added risk of either refusing blood or using blood alternatives that have a higher mortality rate than a simple blood transfusion does.
