  i am trying to find the ridiculous beliefs jw had on the use of a binky or pacifier.

  i did a search, but can't find it, i know others have referenced it on here.

  i'm trying to share with my husband; we're talking about the stupid doctrines they came up with in the early years.. thanks!.

  Well...I don't think that the wacky ideas put forth in the Golden Age were directives from the org. Medical beliefs in early 20th C in America were (and still are) a bit "off" and the early Bible Students embraced many quack notions. And published them and promoted them.

  If you think that the idea that a pacifier will cause tonsillitis is nuts...woe is the one who actually gets tonsillitis.

  Tonsillectomy is called a minor operation. If so, getting well is a double major. If any overzealous doctor condemns your tonsils go and commit suicide with a case-knife. It's cheaper and less painful.

  Yeah. And he lives in Pleiades. Or...at least he used to. I think he moved recently. Condos must have been selling cheap elsewhere. Real estate value fluctuations and all that...or maybe it got too crowded. Or maybe Jehovah up and packed his bags once da' judge arrived - God couldn't stand Joe messing the place up

  The Golden Age 1919 November 26 p.153:

  Even years ago it was known by some people that the use of pacifiers by babies is one of the chief causes of diseased and enlarged tonsils and adenoid growths, which results from the suction.

  did you know?the 1st case heard by the supreme court of the united states concerning the watchtower society involved a director (an officer) of the watchtower, william franklyn hudgings.. a brief description of hudgings and his character.hudgings was an attorney, quack doctor, self-identified ‘scientist’, a pro-zionist, and religious enthusiast who over the years held various director and officer positions in the watchtower society, and the affiliated people's pulpit association and international bible students association.

  at the time of this particular case, william hudgings acknowledged being the corporate secretary of the people's pulpit association and acknowledged that his daily duties included the administrative charge of printing of the watchtower magazine, the bible student's monthly, the kingdom news, and other watchtower publications.. (hudgings was also re-elected to the watchtower society board of directors in january 1919.

  Hudgings was an attorney, quack doctor, self-identified ‘scientist’...

  For your Hudgings history file...you may be interested in this little piece of trivia.

  Hudgings also saw himself as an inventor of sorts. In 1930 he filed a patent for a "rectum flusher".

  yes, my keurig bit the dust after 14 years.

  i want one just like it but that models not available.

  it was only capable of a single cup, from 8 ounces to 12 ounces.

  ToesUp: The shiny little family on stage that portrays "spirituality", all the while they keep their dirty little secrets under wrap. It's all about appearances in the JW cult!!!

  It is not just the JW cult. I find that all religious people are like that, to some degree or other. Those who have the shiniest faces and the neatest appearance are those who are the happiest - they have found a mask to hide behind. Religion suits their purposes. It forgives them of the sins they need to keep hidden.

  My now deceased father-in-law said it best:

  "If you ever move to a town with the goal of setting up a business, go to church first. Sit in the back and pay attention to those who attend. The ones who sit in the front and those who say "Amen" the loudest...those are the ones you can't trust. Don't do business with them. "

  here are the wolves at blackpool zoo, the wolves i did my dissertation on.. they're iberian wolves - a population of grey wolves that are native to spain and portugal.

  Yes, it is a serious point. Dark humor.

  Humans have done some really irresponsible breeding. It's pretty sick what some breeds have to suffer with. All because of what people have done to them.

  I am a fan of big dog breeds.

  Our Canadian wolves are much bigger than yours. I lived in the Northern Boreal for several years and had a few wolf encounters. I have seen wolves that measure well over 7 feet tip to tip. Wolves are hunted and trapped where I come from - they kill livestock They are quite a problem in some areas. One of the packs that ran a few miles from town numbered over 60. And that was just one pack of several.

  I used to go to sleep at night listening to their music coming across the river.

  I didn't like seeing them skinned out. Broke my heart.
