by Room 215 inhttps://www.worldreligionnews.com/religion-news/russia-confiscates-30-4-million-property-jehovahs-witnesses.
it would appear that with this most recent confiscation the total taken from the jws by moscow amounts to more that $75 million.

"According to the JW representative, the total value of JW properties that either have been confiscated or subject to confiscation is approximately $75,361,314."
Right. Total value. That means that is what its potential value is...market value. Now.
I wonder how much was invested in those properties. How much real money went into them. Consider that the value (potential) has large amounts of volunteer labor imbedded into it.

Oh geez, Muddy Waters. Some JWs really shouldn't go out in public.
Your story reminds me of a time when I went shopping with my JW sister several years ago. We ended up in the shampoo aisle and she had a bit of a fit when I picked up a bottle of Herbal Essence shampoo. She stuck her chin out a bit, lifted up her nose and said "Hmph. We don't buy that shampoo. It isn't Christian".
I think I had the same kind of look on my face as you did...a deer in headlights moment. I asked her "why?" and she responded with "Well! Because of the commercial".
I didn't know what to say. My eyeballs almost fell out.

Leaving Neverland the Micheal Jackson documentary
by Finkelstein inleaving neverland the micheal jackson documentary was just released and i must say watching it myself left me pretty disgusted but not necessarily surprised.. being that there is two accounts given by two separate boys, men now, leaves the impression that their stories are truthful and factual.. what one can take from this story is that mj was a megalomaniac that thought he had the power, money and personal stature to get away with just about anything he wanted, this included pedophilia with boys.
i wonder if the over oppression restrictive nature of being brought up a child in the jws religion had an effect to his loose out of control behavior of a super rich celebrity ?.
his celebrity status and wealth really came to him when he was a pubescent young boy/teen, money in such a huge amount made anything he wanted or could afford possible.. personally i think he was inherently gay and had pursued arranged marriages to protect his perceived public image, a pretentious act which was mostly devised as a money and business endeavor .

Cofty, thanks for posting a link to that study. I downloaded it and read it along with another one that was pertinent to the methodology that the researchers used to make up their study sample. The other one I read is this one:
Multiple Paraphilic Diagnoses among Sex Offenders
Gene G. Abel, MD; Judith V. Becker, PhD; Jerry Cunningham-Rathner, BA; Mary Mittelman, DrPH; and Joanne-L. Rouleau, PhD
I read that one so I could evaluate how it was that the researchers in the study you posted had defined their sample group and how they had arrived at the decisions they did to determine who got included and who was eliminated from their sample.
My conclusion is that a person is on real shaky ground if they think that the study can be used to extrapolate to the larger population, or even if it is a valid measurement of what the researchers say they are measuring. I am not going to get into all the problems that the study faces, but the very first clue is in the sample selection - the researchers skewed the study population before they even started - a large group that was likely heterosexual was eliminated and not even included in the study.
At least more (and better) research has been done since and most people know now that the notion that homosexuals are over represented in the population that engages in pedophilia is a myth: -

Wing Commander:
However, BOTH the men in the HBO documentary have received ZERO compensation in ANY FORM, for their work on this documentary. ZERO. So basically, they have NOTHING to gain, and EVERYTHING to lose! Both men tried to sue Jackson's estate. They lost. The documentary has the appearance of a response to not receiving a favorable outcome in court.
After years of defending the singer, a man named Wade Robson came forward with allegations in 2013, followed by another man, James Safechuck, only a few months later in early 2014.
Through the same lawyer, both men sued the Jackson estate, claiming that the singer had molested them when they were children, between the late â80s and early â90s. Both cases were dismissed in 2017.https://globalnews.ca/news/4911997/michael-jackson-sexual-abuse-allegations-timeline/

Exactly what I thought, Della. One study done 27 years ago. One study. Done at a time that even the definition and separation of pedophilia into various forms was non-existent. Much more research (and better research) has been done in the past 27 years.
The review I posted above is far more comprehensive - it reviews lots of research into pedophilia/child abuse and homosexuality compared to heterosexuality. It is myopic to assert the validity of a hypothesis solely based on a single study done 27 years ago.

For a more complete look at whether homosexual men are more likely to be pedophiles, I recommend that this review be read thoroughly and carefully:
https://psychology.ucdavis.edu/rainbow/html/facts_molestation.html
The scientific research does not support the hypothesis that homosexuals are more likely to be pedophiles.
Conclusion
The empirical research does not show that gay or bisexual men are any more likely than heterosexual men to molest children. This is not to argue that homosexual and bisexual men never molest children. But there is no scientific basis for asserting that they are more likely than heterosexual men to do so. And, as explained above, many child molesters cannot be characterized as having an adult sexual orientation at all; they are fixated on children. -

The UK government SANCTIONS this?

aren't children so lucky nowadays to be able to dismiss their parents' authority and guidance!

At the link provided in the OP:
An oncology dietitian has pointed out significant discrepancies in a new HPV vaccine effectiveness study that claims the vaccineâs effectiveness is âhighâ
There are some red flags in that article. First off, "oncology dietitian" sounds good but, the person offering their criticism (of only one study) makes up menus for cancer patients. Second red flag: the website is set up to market herbs and oils.
Thank goodness girls (and boys) do have the right to over ride parents who base their decisions on quack website information.
For real medical expert opinions, this website gives far better and more accurate information from several sources:

Why wouldn't it be sanctioned?
A mature minor can make their own medical decisions. Sometimes the parents' "authority" and "guidance" are skewed.
