How child sex abusers get reinstated as Jehovah’s Witnesses
A Jehovah’s Witnesses elder in Australia was put behind bars last week for sexually abusing minors, according to The West Australian.
Over seven years, David Frank Pople sexually assaulted two teenage boys he met through a congregation near Perth. One of his victims told elders about the abuse in 1997, but no one notified police until one of the victims filed a report in 2014. Pople pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison.
The details of Pople’s story mirror those of other abuse cases involving Jehovah’s Witnesses around the world. Elders failed to report child sexual abuse to secular authorities. The perpetrator was kicked out of the organization, only to be reinstated later.
Moreover, the story fits a pattern of Jehovah’s Witnesses leaders ejecting members who abuse children, not for the abuse, but for failing to show adequate repentance.

below is an article detail where civil disobedience was used as a tactic and ordinances were broken in order to effect change: are derek ohares tactics similar?.

No.
Not even close.
on another thread, i have been having a discussion about protests in connection with watchtower policy.
one of the biggest and more re-occuring rebuttals to protesting at kingdom halls and assemblies is that it does two things: 1. it re-enforces the apostate "mentally diseased" narrative heaped on the xjw community by the gb 2. it causes people to withdraw and get closer to the borg.. what if we as a group took the protest to city halls and government authorities to raise awareness of the need for mandatory reporting laws, rather than protesting @jw events?
hell even geoffry jackson, when he gave his testimony at the arc, agreed that it would be "helpful".
Luther, I am a supporter of activist activity and I do think your idea of taking protest "to the streets" could be effective.
However, I also believe in non-violent protest and activities that are designed to get media attention. Because, when it comes down to it, that is what performative protest aims to do - raise awareness. And media coverage is critical to ensure that the activism is effective.
Your passion is to be admired and you need a focus to be effective. A simple act that is repetitive and rational could draw attention.
If it is mandatory reporting laws that you want to change, then I would suggest that the venue for performing your activist actions could be at the court houses where sex abuse cases are being heard.
Example: protesters/activists dressed in some unique way - maybe in simple black or white clothing or ?? - and all wearing gags over their mouths. And maybe some accompanying signage and/or simple actions. Something that would look good in a photograph or on a TV screen. Peaceful and with all the city bylaws adhered to (permits, etc). And, in a public space - not inside the courthouse but rather in the spaces surrounding the courtroom.
Good activism is rational and planned and does not include violence or uncontrolled behaviour.
And yes, I think your idea of targeting secular institutions with your message could be effective. If it is planned carefully and legally. And especially if you target events and places that attract media attention. Rationality and coolness of head will get your message across.
given derek o'hares legal issues for his brave protests i have created an fb banner to show not only exjwsolidarity but also that we appreciate derek's protests.
if you have not viewed his protests go to the "derek ohare1" youtube channel.
here is the fb banner that was i created fix it to your own fb page and show support for derek and all strugglers!.
Luther: 1. The first is the 2 witness policy for verification within the congregation. Though in this instance his tactic I admit would fall short.
2. The fact that there are no laws for mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse in large swath of legal jurisdictions, which need to be changed. Hell even Geoffory Jackson agreed with this!
Challenging these rules of the WTS is not civil disobedience.
Breaking the law in order to bring attention to these issues is not civil disobedience - it is simply breaking the law - and the law being broken has no bearing whatsoever on the rules being challenged.
You cannot call violent protest civil disobedience. They are apples and oranges.
Using examples, like Parks and Ghandi (who actually did use civil disobedience) to try to bolster your position is not valid and it does an disservice to people who actually did have the courage to stand up and change unjust laws.

I am going to jump in here, Luther, because I have a question for you.
You site Rosa Parks and Ghandi as examples of civil disobedience.
Their acts of civil disobedience were done as acts that challenged specific laws. They deliberately broke the laws that needed changing.
My question:
What specific law is being challenged by this person that you claim is acting in civil disobedience?

The real sacrificial lambs are the JWs who die for the profit of the "bloodless" industry.

(Or maybe it just hasn't been reported too much until now.

For decades, the WatchTower Society has repeatedly portrayed its' Jehovah's Witness members as "the most honest people on earth", supposedly because Jehovah's Witnesses are members of "the only true religion on earth". The following state and federal employment related criminal and civil court cases are not intended as evidence that Jehovah's Witness Employees are more dishonest than other employees, but rather are intended to demonstrate that Jehovah's Witnesses are just as dishonest, or honest, as are other members of the human population -- whether religious or non-religious.
Mounting evidence, however, seems to indicate that a higher than normal percentage of Jehovah's Witness Investments-Insurance Salespersons are turning to crime. See below all the Investments-Insurance related cases which have become public over the past decade just since the flood of information provided by the internet. (Just for fun, try to keep track of how many times the word "California" occurs just on this first page of this 10-page section.)
back in my teen years this story swept through jw land, that according to, the guinness book of records , freddy franz, was listed as one of the seven, most intelligent , men in the world.
dose anyone else remember this?
i remember trying to look it up, but never found anything in print, and ii point that out once or twice , and was told a co, had told about it, and he wouldn't lie!
sparky: Statements like this perpetuate the man and his myth
And statements about how brilliant he was.
Predicting Armageddon in 1975 was brilliant, wasn't it? Brilliant of him to do the math on that one. Pure brilliance. Outstanding. A sign of real intelligence, for sure.
i know this sounds like a ridiculous question but i was talking with my mom in the car today and of course we got on the topic of getting babtized again.
she told me that jehovah holds me accountable for my sins regardless of wether i am babtized or not so i have no reason to be holding back because it won't change anything.
my parents are the type of super strict jw who will shun you just for not being a witness.
blackwolf: They also don't care that Jesus was babtized when he was 30 (their excuse is that people lived longer back then lol)
Ummm...you might want to google that, Blackwolfgirl. And then show it to your parents.
Life expectancy during the time that Jesus would have lived was shorter than it is today, not longer.
