  This protocol has been in place at McGill Children's Hospital in Montreal for over a decade. Just think of how many children could have received life saving blood transfusions if all hospitals adopted this protocol or if the HLC made this provision known and available for all JW parents. But no...the WTS would rather see children die, families suffer, and get the media coverage when children are made the center of their ridiculous blood doctrine. The WTS would rather use sick children to promote their alternative brand of bloodless treatment than share information with all their members

  McGill Children’s Hospital in Montreal has had such a protocol for about a decade, and found that it brought about a “real, significant drop” in conflicts, said Lori Seller, a clinical ethicist at the facility.
  All the ethicists stress, as well, that some Jehovah’s Witnesses do not agree with the blood ban, but are anxious that their green light to transfusion be kept confidential.
  “Some families are really more concerned about other Jehovah’s Witnesses finding out they consented to the blood transfusion,” said Ms. Seller.

  Yes, you are correct.

  In Canada, the HLC have arranged for JW parents to sign a "Letter of Understanding" that allows a hospital to administer blood transfusions to their children if necessary.

  Note the tile of that article: "Without Fanfare..."

  Without fanfare is right, it is done so quietly that the JW parents themselves don't know that the HLC will do this. It is a practice that is only done in certain locations to avoid legal issues - it does not mean that the WTS cares about the child's life - they care about avoiding a legal battle that they can't win

  Good point. They are not in their right mind.

  The twist to all of this is that preaching is sold as "saving souls" when in actuality, saving other peoples' souls has dick all to do with it. The JWs preach to save their own skin. It is completely and wholly a self centered exercise. Saving others is just the excuse they use to fool themselves, thinking that it makes them altruistic but all it does is confirm their own importance

  i'm probably going to say some things here that will disappoint many.

  there are some that may look back over the years and say "man i really blew it" i'm not writing the following to scold for failures, but rather to help those who are young enough to put into practice what god wills for their life, and also to those of us who are in our middle years that still have time to change some things, in order to please god and find a peace that only being in his will can bring.

  first let me say that god didn't create man for you.

  The last time I visited my home town, my mother told me that the congregation had been split and moved to two other towns. The Kingdom Hall is now a church - some kind of born-again and speaking in tongues kind of church

  I have had problems loading images in the past, too, and I have found that smaller images load better

  A historic church building at the corner of 12th and Delaware streets has been purchased by a large congregation expanding into the downtown area.

  Traders Point Christian Church in Whitestown is spending $2 million to renovate the 35,300-square-foot structure and should have it ready for worship early next year, Rev. James Stanley said.

  The neoclassical, limestone building has been used as a place of worship since it was built in 1912 and had been owned by The Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1978.

  The location at 1201 N. Delaware St., across from the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, will be the third for Traders Point. The congregation turned to downtown following its entrance into Carmel in January and quickly homed in on the Jehovah’s facility.

  “We could not believe the pristine, well-maintained condition of the building,” Stanley said. “It was like everyone’s jaw dropped, with a building that old, how well-maintained it had been.”
  The building includes a 1,200-seat auditorium renovated in 1995. That’s a little larger than what Traders Point needs. But the church likely will reduce the space somewhat to better fit its plans of hosting multiple services at different times.

  Still, the structure’s overall size meets the congregation’s “prototype of what we’re looking for,” Stanley said.
  Interior work will be done to bring the space up to Traders Point standards.
  “The biggest portion of renovations will be to make it look like our brand,” he said. “The difference is, it’s got some historic features; we’re trying to respect that.”

  i’ve been reviewing the scientific claims that the society promoted through the golden age magazine (later replaced by the awake).. each statement comes from an official publication of the wtbts.

  while this material goes back many years so do jw’s beliefs that were and still are promoted as the ‘truth’.. a more up to date account of jw science and medicine and many other great topics........ can be found on jwfacts.com.

  the science of the watchtower plus an occasional face palm i couldn’t resist.. “color and physiognomy..........a blue nose..... is a symbol of austerity, with perhaps a prudish tinge.....the size of the nose, as also the size of the eyes, is not without significance.

  Giordano, the Golden Age magazines are a treasure trove of weird and wacky ideas. The medical advice is pretty much all anti-AMA propaganda and fueled by the abundance of alternative practitioners who supported the WTS

  I particularly like this medical advice that appeared in a 1912 Watchtower (their wacky ideas were firmly planted by the time the Golden Age appeared):

  CURE FOR APPENDICITIS

  It is known that only about three out of every one hundred

  operated upon for appendicitis really have a diseased appendix

  needing removal. We give below a simple cure for appendicitis

  symptoms. The pain in the appendix region is caused by

  the biting of worms near the junction of the transverse colon

  with the small intestines, low down on the right side of the

  abdomen.

  This remedy is recommended also for typhoid fever, which

  is also a worm disease. The medicine is Santonine: dose, 3

  grains, an hour before breakfast; repeated for four mornings,

  or until all the symptoms disappear. Then one dose per month

  for three months to eradicate all germs.

  This recipe is of incalculable value. Not only will it save

  the surgeon's and hospital fees of perhaps $200, but it saves

  weeks of ill health, inconvenience, convalescence and loss of

  salary.
