many here have asked how the average witness in australia is taking the news of the arc findings and conclusions.. is it affecting them?.
sorry to say, hardly any are even aware of the facts.
those that are, have been convinced that all the publicity is "apostate lies and satanic propaganda".
Here are some comments that I stole from reddit about the Australian JWs responses to the ARC:
"I kid you not.. Just speaking to a worldly friend of mine here in Australia. His boss is a witness.
Anyway told my mate about the ARC report just released.
He then tells me his boss took him for coffee a few months ago. The JW elder then says to my mate I suppose you have heard about the ARC. Well I want to let you know the JW's are in the clear.
He went on to say the ARC were so impressed with the witnesses that they want other institutions to adopt their procedures.
Yep he said we got a big wrap from the ARC."
"The elders where i live in Australia told rank and file who asked about the Royal Commission into child abuse that " it had been dealt with and Jehovah's Witnesses got a good report"
This was about September 2015. ..before any final findings had been handed down by The Royal Commission."
"Some of my JW acquaintances said it never happened. That it's all a elaborate ruse put out by apostates. Including the website of the ARC."
LTPF: Then what about when the media says good things about JW's, then of course it must be the truth?
Of course it is. Those news pieces are just fluff. The Watchtower has been doing press releases for decades. It is their favorite way to get into newspapers.
My dad used to be the one who would take the Watchtower's "news" article about the circuit assembly that had arrived in the mail from 'the society', make a few small changes to it (so it wasn't exactly the same as all the other assembly "news" items that the JWs would release about their assembly) and then set up a meeting with the newspaper to give them his "press release" and talk to the editor. The article always ran exactly as my dad had submitted it.
Of course those "good" pieces are the truth - they come from The Truth, after all.
the title should have read, "assault by a member toward another member".
(unfortunately, i couldn't find a way to edit the title).
you happen to be driving by what looks to be your own empty kingdom hall and something doesn't look quite right.
steve: Complicating factor:
In Scenarios 1 an 2 the sisters tell you in no uncertain terms NOT to phone anyone. They just want to go home. Especially for victims of sexual assault, they have a reasonable fear that the aftermath will be taken out of their control and they'll be re-traumatized. So they go from being controlled by a perpetrator to being controlled by others (ambulance staff, police, nursing staff).
Complicating factor: how young is young? Are the "young sisters" minors? (well...not the dead one...dead is dead regardless of how old you are)
If the sister was a minor, there is no option to let her decide to report the matter. When a crime is committed against a minor child (under 18 in most countries), it must be reported. A minor does not have an option to say "don't call the police".

steve2: I am conflicted over this: I have argued that copyright is copyright and there's nothing anyone else can do about it period. And I do have sympathy for the host of medical reasons the copy right owner had that was delaying the publishing of Ray's book.
Me too. I have defended the copyright holder's right to ownership and respected that right.
But...in two more weeks a year is up and for the life of me, I cannot think of a good reason why the book has not been released. Even if the person has some ongoing medical reasons, there have been LOTS of people offer to help.
My respect is waning. Nah, I will be honest. My respect has disappeared. If I held copyright on material that is critical for some people to have - it truly is a matter of life and death for some - even if I was in palliative care, I would look after getting the book into the public realm.
I have a personal pdf copy that I have not shared up to now. I am willing to share it now - pm me if you want a copy. My patience has ran out and Christmas is coming.
And yeah...slap me with a cease and desist. It won't get you anywhere and courts don't scare me. Sue me - I have nothing to give and you would have to get in line.
Sparrow, I am tending to side with you on this one. The book not being released only benefits one party and one party only.

im printing this off and spending my next sunday morning doing some door to door work posting this article through all the letter boxes of the street my local kh is on.. it's shocking that none of the r&f know about this.
i have a feeling that the 2 witness rule will be revised in 2017 and made to look like it was jehovah's proper time.
dsp: Must say, I am surprised - would have thought that the Guardian at least would have printed something in their newspaper
I am not surprised.
The JWs make up a tiny, tiny portion of the world's population and they are an insular group that the rest of the world cares little about.
Why are you surprised? Did you send any information to these newspapers that you think should be carrying this world shattering news? Have you done anything yourself to try to get journalists to carry this story?
News outlets cover stories that will sell and the public has to show some interest for the story to run. It is up to people who are interested in a little known news item about a small cult to make sure that it stays in the news
it's great that the following is officially mentioned in the royal commission's report:.
when asked if the governing body members saw themselves as ‘jehovah god’s spokespeople on earth’, mr geoffrey jackson answered that it ‘would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that god is using’.
mr jackson’s response seems to be inconsistent with the documentary evidence before the royal commission, which shows that jehovah’s witnesses believe that the governing body is the ‘channel’ by which jehovah’s ‘will’ is communicated to them..
Wonder: It will be studied in the congregations and everbody will think. "Aah how wise that we get this councel at the proper time when the whole world is against us".
That made me laugh. You nailed it so well..."aaahhh how wise". That is exactly what they will say.

over the course of about six decades, more than 1,000 members of the jehovah’s witnesses were accused of sexually abusing australian children, according to a new report.
victims were ordered to keep quiet.
Our local rag, the Regina Leader Post, has also ran the Washington Post story:
Australian Jehovah’s Witnesses protected members accused of child abuse, report says

smiddy: Are their articles syndicated through other newspapers throughout the country ?
The same article also ran in Canada's National Post.
The National Post is a respected mainstream news outlet in Canada.

I am surprised that CBC Canada hasn't run a story yet. It appears like our French news outlets are carrying it - but that is understandable considering the high profile that the JWs have in Quebec news right now. This story double whammys the WT in Quebec - this is bad news for them right on the heels of more bad news. Quebec will be all over this one - first they have two mothers who die because of blood refusal and leave children behind and now that same religion is exposed as not providing safety and care for those children.
If anyone in Canada bothers to do the math, the possible number of abusers within the Canadian JWs is almost 1500. There is no reason to believe that the stats are lower in Canada than there are in Australia.
there are many on this site that do not believe that jehovah truly exists; that he is not a real being.
but, he is as real as next breath you draw into your nostrils.. some of you say that there is no evidence that he exists.
yet, none of you can prove that he does not exits.. cofty, (you come to mind), i appreciate that you have stated, without reservation, that you do not believe that god exists.. yet, you cannot prove it.. hope in jehovah..
Toyc: OrphanCrow, I have an answer to your question. But if you are serious, pray about it and ask Jehovah for yourself.
I did that. He told me to ask you.
Again..."How do you know that?"
How do you know what you say you know?

Toyc: I think I put a burr under your seats.
That says it all.
What is your problem? That burr getting a little uncomfortable after the report came out from Australia revealing that your god, Jehovah, f***ed up Big Time?
Are you on here under orders or is this just your way of getting rid of your frustration over your god Jehovah's failings?
