The judge is perplexed: how can you ban what does not exist. He clarifies whether the Ministry of Justice also demands that all unregistered groups be banned. The representative of the Ministry of Justice explains that he does not ask them to be banned, because Jehovah's Witnesses did not provide the department with information about unregistered groups.

Unregistered groups.

Would that be referring to those groups of JWs who refused to accept the WTS as authoritative because they had changed their doctrines so much during the banned years?

Groups like the Theocracy Publishers in the Ukraine, for example?

it's been brought to my attention that there are xjw that say they support the witnesses and don't think russia should ban them.

i would just like to remind all of you that jws are guilty of murder, causing higher rates of suicide, covering up child molestation, and keeping members in prisoned because if they leave they loose family, financial support, possible employment etc.. sure their not strapping bombs to their chests but they easily get members to kill themselves with their blood policies.

they are an extremist group!

No. They didn't have to "change the blood doctrine" because it wasn't there when they got banned.

The blood doctrine (concerning blood transfusions) was developed, in and around 1945, after the ban. Many of those that were banned never adopted it to begin with *see above post about the Theocracy Publishers*

It is the WTS that has been concerned with getting those banned JWs to change the blood doctrine, not the other way around. Any changes that happened during the banned years concerning the blood doctrine came from the WTS, not from the banned JWs

BluesBrothers: The Soviets banned them and they grew faster underground. I grew up on stories of the brave JW's behind the Iron Curtain and those who smuggled in the literature. They were an inspiration to us all , and proof ( to us) that Satan could not thwart Jehovah's Organisation.

Well...that is what you were told. I don't think they grew faster - that sounds like a WT myth. I am not convinced.

There are several accounts of those banned, isolated little bands of JWs who emerged from hiding with copies of Rutherford literature clutched tightly in their hands. Which they rigorously defended, never re-joining the new and improved WTS. They view the WTS as "apostate" because the doctrine changed so much during their dark ages.

There is one of those groups that uploaded material to archive.org a few years ago. They call themselves the "Theocracy Publishers":

I am wondering if those isolated little groups of JWs, are the ones that are a point of contention mentioned in the court when "unregistered" congregations are being discussed as to whether the ban should include them or not (sorry...can't find that part right now). It seems like there is some confusion as to if the Admin Center oversees all of them (?).

So is "freedom from religion".

The freedom to believe is fundamental. The freedom to practice that belief bumps up against the freedoms of others, who have the fundamental right to be free from religious practice.

Richard, a hemoglobin check makes perfect sense. The JW population belong to a rare blood group that cannot have the part of blood that corrects for anemia. A belief, a phbia, a conviction...whatever, they can't have that part of blood. Early detection of an anemic condition, with a simple blood test for iron levels, is practical.

Iron supplements and diet can sometimes correct hemoglobin deficiencies in a person's blood, whether they appear healthy or not

Richard, you made a really big leap to go from "hemoglobin check" to Arterial Blood Gas test.

An Arterial Blood Gas test has nothing to do with a hemoglobin check.

Could you imagine seven Russians coming to the states claiming such total nonsense. Why can only Americans make such shit up.

It isn't just odd. It is ridiculous. To think that the 7 lucky dwarfs of the WT Kingdom, can have free and easy access to a country whose religious history is centuries long, is myopic and emerges from a pretty new and shiny capitalistic "democracy". Backed by the United Nations.

Christianity was established in 988 in Russia (Orthodox - because Vladimir fell in love with the beauty of the Greeks) and was eventually spread throughout rural areas by illiterate monks who had at best, memorized a fragment or two of text. Some of those strange little pockets of Christianity survived the Muslim rule in the 13th-15th century. And became the backdrop for apocalyptic cults in the Russian territories.

Strange little bit of trivia - on the eve of the Tsar's abdication in 1917, an apocalyptic cult committed suicide on the outskirts of Moscow. Just over 60 members committed suicide. They were convinced the world was ending.

And then the religious freeze. Throughout the Soviet era. Godless times.

The WTS is a recent emergence on a scene that has such a long and varied religious history. And a long memory. Culture imprints deep memories when it is a old and significant as it has been in Russia.

Likely when he was in the Philippines. Strong Russian presence there.

Lol! I doubt it was when he was treading Canadian prairie streets! The Russian community isn't that large here...but I could be wrong

"On Wednesday morning, September 5, 2012, it was announced to the United States and Canada Bethel families that a new member had been added to the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Effective September 1, 2012, Mark Sanderson began to serve in that capacity.

Brother Sanderson was raised in San Diego, California, U.S.A., by his Christian parents and was baptized on February 9, 1975. He began to serve as a pioneer in Saskatchewan, Canada, on September 1, 1983. In December 1990, he graduated from the seventh class of the Ministerial Training School (now called the Bible School for Single Brothers) in the United States. Brother Sanderson was appointed to serve as a special pioneer on the island of Newfoundland, Canada, in April 1991. After serving as a substitute circuit overseer, he was invited to become a member of the Canada Bethel family in February 1997. In November 2000, he was transferred to the United States branch, where he worked in Hospital Information Services and later in the Service Department.

In September 2008, Brother Sanderson attended the School for Branch Committee Members and thereafter was appointed as a member of the Philippines Branch Committee. In September 2010, he was invited to return to the United States, where he served as a helper to the Service Committee of the Governing Body."
