tonight's episode of holby city on bbc 1 starts a jw narrative that explores family estrangement and the blood issue.
the outcome is explored again in a couple of weeks and is pretty favourable to the jws..
Geez. You would think that all those millions of hours of "preaching work" would be more effective, wouldn't you?
And besides, all the script writers had to do was google jw blood doctrine and get it straight from the horse's mouth.
wtf?
russian jw mr novik is shown in full view on jw org wearing the "parental glory" badge with its prominent cross pattee on his lapel - and not one word of caution is sounded.
similarly, jw forums are abuzz singing the praises of mr and mrs novik and their brood after they received the parental glory honor from no less than jw-oppressor, mr putin.. from the stinking gb heaven all the way down to the dusty rank and file, the hypocrisy is sky-high.
gorbatchov: My brother in law concluded, "now, we will win the appeal"
Lol!
How ridiculous and naive.
This medal fiasco will have no bearing whatsoever on the appeal. The only thing that the org can appeal the Supreme Court ruling on are procedural matters. There is zero chance of this medal ceremony being allowed into the appeal process. Zero. Nada.
The org cannot introduce new evidence. They cannot challenge the Supreme Court ruling itself - they can challenge the court on the procedural points of the court hearing. That is all. The only way the ruling can be overturned is if it can be proved that the court did not follow procedure.
.... irrational nonsense
Irrational indeed. It is right up there with the letter writing campaign. Foolish nonsense.

anyone who is willing to have 8 kids deserves a medal!.
Of course, darkspliver. But, I think it is equally important to not get bogged down in "Putin gave an award to a JW family!"
It is important to not be of the impression that the family passively received this award. They didn't get a congratulations! letter in the mail and then have to face a decision as to whether to accept it or not based on their "christian conscience". That had already been addressed at the time the JW father picked up his pen and filled in the application form.
The family chose to apply, the Russian authorities did not chose them...they chose them once the family entered into competition for the award and met the qualifications to receive it.
It isn't like..."oh look at jehovah's hand in this!" It is more like...oh look! A Russian JW family applied for (and met the qualifications for) a medal and financial award from the Russian government.

Think it would be safer to send it to the Governing Body, to be put in the glass case with the Telly awards.
That is exactly where the Noviks' medals belong.
The Russian JW family were awarded their honor and glory as a result of applying for the award, exactly the same way the org got their Telly award.

presenting the order of parental gloryon the eve of international children’s day, vladimir putin presented the order of parental glory to parents of large families.
the recipients included families from astrakhan and yaroslavl regions, the republics of karelia, buryatia, north ossetia-alania, perm and primorye territories, and khanty-mansi autonomous area – yugra.the order of parental glory was established by a presidential executive order signed in may 2008 and is awarded to parents (or adoptive parents) raising 7 or more children and ensuring due care for their health, education, and physical, spiritual and moral development.
ds: Besides I understood that you needed SEVEN children minimum for the award, NOT just six
Yeah, it's a bit confusing.
From what I understand, there is a Medal of Order of Parental Glory that a family can apply for once they have 4 children. The medal is given to those families that qualify along with a financial award.
It is when a family has seven children and over that they can apply for admission into the Order of Parental Glory, to receive a medal along with a financial award.
The Novik family would have went through an application process to receive their medal and $. They would have initiated the award (or someone did it for them) by applying for it.
Sort of like the Telly Awards - it is given to those who ask for it.

Ah...that is an update from what was published earlier. This is what it first said:

The family of Jehovah's Witnesses took the order from the hands of the head of state
May 31, 2017 in Moscow, at a meeting in the Kremlin, the president handed Valery and Tatiana Novik, Jehovah's Witnesses from Karelia, the Order of "Parental Glory". At the awarding ceremony was also attended by all six children Novikov.
The Order is awarded to parents of large families, who are setting an example to strengthen the institution of the family and the upbringing of children, form a socially responsible family and lead a healthy lifestyle, provide a full and harmonious development of personality of children, a high level of care for their health, education, physical, spiritual and moral development.
In reply, referring to the spiritual and moral development of children, Valery Novik quoted text from the Bible, which serves as a reference for it, both for the parents: "Train up a boy on the right path; he will not depart from it, even when you are old "(Proverbs 22: 6).

Thanks darkspliver. I missed that. I had read the jw-russia org site that claimed six children.
My mistake.

nimbleduck: Putin is modernizing his army and navy and to go along with its new firepower, he needs young boots, men and women. Tanks and jets don't drive themselves you know. That is, unless Putin starts working with Google for self driving tanks.
Technology is Russia's future. Who needs soldiers (or google self driving tanks) when you have robots?

I have a suspicion that this JW family receiving this award was orchestrated by the org itself.
To receive this award requires an application from the recipient themselves or someone else has to apply on behalf of the one receiving it. It isn't like Putin personally travels around Russia seeking out large families. The award process starts with an application.
So, it leaves a person questioning why now? Why would the Noviks apply now - right at the same time that the JWs are up against the Supreme Court of Russia? Why now? Why not when they were eligible to receive the award? The Noviks were eligible for this award when their seventh child turned three. The little girl pictured in the photo is three - but she is the eight child, not the seventh. The Noviks could have applied for (and didn't), this award at least 3 or 4 years ago. But they didn't. They did it now - only months after the Supreme Court ruling and just weeks before the appeal will be be held.
Which is another thing - why does the Russian website reveal that there are 8 children in the Novik family yet the org press releases only acknowledge 6 children?
I think the application process was instigated and encouraged by the higher ups in the organization and that the elders would not have stood in their way and in fact, would have facilitated the application process. Along with all the ones up the chain of command. "An opportunity to give a witness".
Aude: Two different families are pictured in this thread. The one by Freelikeabird is not the same family as in the OP.
Which is the JW family?
The JW family appears at 6:40 in the video that freelikeabird posted. The image you see is simply a frame from the full video that features several families.
freelikeabird: . Families have an opportunity to say something. The JW guy says (my wife translated it for me) "do not interfere with how we raise our children" with a surprised Putin
Really? I am going to call "not likely" on that claim. If he had indeed said that, I would think it likely that that quote would have showed up on at least one of the numerous articles and comments about this event. Not even the European and Russian apostates have picked up on that supposed statement.
Any Russian speakers on this forum? Can this statement be confirmed? Did the father say that?
