Steve:
On the other hand, the police stating they found two hand granades and a land mine doesn't sound like that big an arsenal
Sounds more like WW2 souvenirs
from bbc news "five jw's from the kirov region detained with about $ 7,500 accused of funding and organizing meetings....they found literature...and two hand granades and a landmine".
the russians are such idiots planting evidence....and quarrelling with the neutral and sheepish jw land...and of course inflamating their persecution complex.

Darth, I don't think that the JWs were found to be funneling money back to the US. They were simply found with that money. Collecting funds to organise extremist meetings would be sufficient to be considered unlawful under Russia's extremist laws
The JWs in Russia no longer have the right to organize or raise funds to do so. They are no longer a recognized religion and therefore no longer have religious rights.
this has been mentioned in passing but it seems to deserve its own thread.. this year at the rc, no releases.
instead they wait to drop them at the annual meeting which isnt a even simulcast event.
what is their thinking?
I think the releases at the AGM were a diversion.
It gives everyone something to talk about rather than question why their disaster fund shot up to 30 million.
Hey Dick, why do you think there is such a huge spike in disaster funds?
Look Jane! A new book! New light! Let's go show Sally!
The significance of 1919 is pretty simple.
That is the year that the WTS started doing their own printing. They bought their first printing presses that year.
"The word is god" and they were able to control "the word". The WTS owned their own means of production in 1919.

i trust rick fearon ... but it seem to me a so big thing ... that i can't really believe it !!!.
and the reason of doj , seem to strange : "jw purchased fire arms" ???
That is not in the realm of things I consider believable
It makes no sense.
Why would the US investigate the org for "extremism" when just a couple weeks ago, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) announced that they have "adopted" a JW in Russia as part of their Prisoners of Conscience project?
Vice Chair Arriaga Adopts Two Religious Prisoners of Conscience
Vice Chair Arriaga said, “These two cases are examples of the Russian government ‘securitizing’ religion—targeting religious communities it considers illegitimate on the pretext that they pose a national security threat”
WASHINGTON, DC – Kristina Arriaga, Vice Chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), today announced that she is adopting two religious prisoners of conscience in Russia, Dennis Christensen and Ivan Matsitsky, as part of USCIRF’s Prisoners of Conscience Project. Mr. Christensen, a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, was arrested in Oryol, Russia, on May 25, 2017, following the raid of a prayer service in which he was participating. As of September 13, 2018, Mr. Christensen has appeared 38 times before Oryol’s District Court. He faces a possible sentence of up to 10 years in prison. Mr. Matsitsky, the director of the Church of Scientology in St. Petersburg, was arrested on June 5, 2017, on various charges including involvement in “an extremist conspiracy.” He has been held in pretrial detention since his arrest.
I don't trust Rick Fearon
His stories just don't check out
i am an elementary school teacher of the fourth grade.
in times past, students would start learning cursive handwriting in third grade and by fourth should be transitioning to writing in cursive at all times.
as you might be aware, this has all but been taken out of the curriculum.
sparky: I have wondered if giving up cursive writing would be detrimental in the long run for the mental and emotional health of a child and eventually for the maturing adult. Personally, I think it could be disastrous for a child's self-communication skills and ability to communicate with others clearly....
You are right on point, Sparky
The act of cursive writing aids in brain development. To a large degree.
The notion of what you call self-dialogue could be part of what it is that cursive writing encourages: communication between the right and left brain hemispheres. Self dialogue would arise out of whole brain thinking/functioning.
Some interesting articles:
What’s Lost as Handwriting Fades (pdf)
A study of handwriting production:Educational and developmental aspect (pdf)
(I haven't fully read the above papers...they are now on my list of "to read". Right/left brain functioning is one of my favorite topics)
And a couple more...this one is about the benefits of cursive for dyslexic students:
And...

*I am still thinking about your idea of "self dialogue" and how that relates to the "idea generating" component of increasing right brain dialogue with left brain tasks. I think your notion fits quite well.
it was announced in this year’s annual meeting that they believe that the king of the north is russia and the king of the south is us/britain.
for me this is the first time hearing from the society actually identifying the identity of the king of the north.
very interesting times!
Lol!
Wasn't there some dude from Russia who almost started Armageddon in New York last night?
guys, i've always wondered about this ,.
all the money grab, selling, consolidation of kh, real estate scam , who is the one who benefits from this elaborate scam, what's the deal ?
who is the mastermind, do the gb or whoever really runs the show really believe what they sell.
DoC: I do think they are hiding money out of the US as best they can to avoid it going to attorneys
Or being included in the assessments that they are providing to the courts to be evaluated for how much victims receive for the org's negligence.
Does anyone else think that the amount the org submitted to the Montana court was a bit low? And was only for the US branch/headquarters?
We know that the org has assets tucked away in shell companies. Remember Valley Farms?
And really, how convenient that the org's "collapse" includes getting rid of those cumbersome property assets. Money is so much easier to deal with - send that cash on a trip around the world and watch the "asset" line on those court documents drop down.
The org has been hearing the devil's footsteps for some time. They are willing to sacrifice anybody and everybody to protect their asses/assets. They really could care less if the attendance drops and KHs are sold - a good justification for telling the courts - "we have no money to pay the victims" - and so much easier to handle. True believer$ only.
its been a minute since posting, have been trying to put this cult in my review mirror and just live life.
but you know this beast rears it's evil head.
my wife found my crisis of conscience book and out came the horns plus i guess what she is hearing at the meetings isn't helping either.
Everything you need in one convenient website:
https://www.jw-supplies.com/Disaster-Preparedness-Emergency-Kits-Supplies-Go-Bags_c44.htm
Packing go bags is not exclusive to the JWs. This is an initiative that was put in place post 9/11. Grants and funding are available through FEMA. How handy that the org can get money from Satan's government to implement disaster preparedness and what a loving provision from Jehovah that the initiative fits so nicely into their warped doctrines.
