Both men tried to sue Jackson's estate. They lost. The documentary has the appearance of a response to not receiving a favorable outcome in court.

After years of defending the singer, a man named Wade Robson came forward with allegations in 2013, followed by another man, James Safechuck, only a few months later in early 2014.
Through the same lawyer, both men sued the Jackson estate, claiming that the singer had molested them when they were children, between the late ’80s and early ’90s. Both cases were dismissed in 2017.

leaving neverland the micheal jackson documentary was just released and i must say watching it myself left me pretty disgusted but not necessarily surprised.. being that there is two accounts given by two separate boys, men now, leaves the impression that their stories are truthful and factual.. what one can take from this story is that mj was a megalomaniac that thought he had the power, money and personal stature to get away with just about anything he wanted, this included pedophilia with boys.

i wonder if the over oppression restrictive nature of being brought up a child in the jws religion had an effect to his loose out of control behavior of a super rich celebrity ?.

his celebrity status and wealth really came to him when he was a pubescent young boy/teen, money in such a huge amount made anything he wanted or could afford possible.. personally i think he was inherently gay and had pursued arranged marriages to protect his perceived public image, a pretentious act which was mostly devised as a money and business endeavor .

Exactly what I thought, Della. One study done 27 years ago. One study. Done at a time that even the definition and separation of pedophilia into various forms was non-existent. Much more research (and better research) has been done in the past 27 years.

The review I posted above is far more comprehensive - it reviews lots of research into pedophilia/child abuse and homosexuality compared to heterosexuality. It is myopic to assert the validity of a hypothesis solely based on a single study done 27 years ago.

The scientific research does not support the hypothesis that homosexuals are more likely to be pedophiles.

Conclusion
The empirical research does not show that gay or bisexual men are any more likely than heterosexual men to molest children. This is not to argue that homosexual and bisexual men never molest children. But there is no scientific basis for asserting that they are more likely than heterosexual men to do so. And, as explained above, many child molesters cannot be characterized as having an adult sexual orientation at all; they are fixated on children.

There are some red flags in that article. First off, "oncology dietitian" sounds good but, the person offering their criticism (of only one study) makes up menus for cancer patients. Second red flag: the website is set up to market herbs and oils.

Thank goodness girls (and boys) do have the right to over ride parents who base their decisions on quack website information.

A mature minor can make their own medical decisions. Sometimes the parents' "authority" and "guidance" are skewed.

simon: Well, in the feminista fervour about equality, people seem to imagine that men had the right to vote for thousands of years and then finally gave in and allowed women to vote too.
The reality is that men didn't have the right to vote simply by virtue of being men until a short time before women did.
It wasn't todo with gender, it was todo with class and wealth. The landowners voted and the peasants did as they were told.

Well, I guess I don't fall into your definition of "people" because I am well aware that "men" didn't have the right to vote for "thousands of years". The vote came about with the establishment of democracy which didn't occur "thousands of years" ago.

The reality is that what gave men the right to vote prior to the date you have given of 1918 was if they were white and owned land and/or paid taxes. In addition to being based on race, it definitely was gender based - women could not vote at all - only white male landowners could (I realize that is a bit of a generalization - you appear to be using UK voting rights and in some democratic countries, that right was extended to white males who didn't own land but paid taxes and then later, in 1918 (UK), the common working man acquired the vote. Unless they were Chinese, black or indigenous, etc).

So 10 years - apparently the "white male patriarchy" wasn't quite as some claim - it only lasted a decade and just applied to a certain age gap.

Oh please, Simon. Do some more reading. White patriarchy only lasted a decade?? (by the way, the "male" in white male patriarchy is redundant. Patriarchy is male - no need to say it twice)

I could be wrong but...I think it might be important to understand where this article originates. The story comes from the website "Bitter Winters" which was founded by Massimo Introvigne.

Introvigne also founded CENSUR (one of the abiding principles that CENSUR stands on is that brainwashing does not exist). And that "cults" are just "new religious movements". Introvigne's cronies include James T Richardson (lawyer), who has written supportive papers on the JWs and religious freedom.

I guess what I am saying is that the article comes from a biased position. Neither Introvigne or Richardson will acknowledge that these "new religious movements" abuse the human rights of their members - instead they are more concerned with the rights of the organizations that are in control of their members. Religious freedom, to them, seems to mean that the right of the religious organization comes first.

Introvigne proposes that a cult really isn't a cult unless it violates criminal law.
