Plans for huge Jehovah's HQ take shape
by Formerbrother inhttp://www.chelmsfordweeklynews.co.uk/news/11227290.plans_for_huge_jehovah_s_hq_take_shape/.
its going to be a real beautiful place when its finished.. they are going for quality over quantity.
it used to be accommodation for a few thousand permanent residents, now its looking like less than a thousand permanent with the possibility of a few thousand more in temporary accommodation should the need arise.. some say the plans are going to be like a garden of eden in england :) i mean they had farming in london over the years but this is going to be epic what they are planning for temple farm at chelmsford.. they are planting thousands (literally) of fruit trees, including tropical fruits in huge green houses, huge vines yards and then the same basic farming activities as before.

Strictly for JWS?
Well of course - millions and millions being invested for a privileged few.
Why all this in these 'urgent times?'
What's the point?
If they believe we are right on the final brink - why build a park like compound?
Why use all that volunteer time when they could be out, preaching?
I'm not being negative - yes, it's a fantastic project - but beautifying real estate is not what Christ was all about?
Have they EVER stopped to think how this constant building and selling, renovating what doesn't need renovating and the spending of millions in the 'public eye' simply waters down the urgency of their message?
That the 'the world' observes these busy Christians building luxury compounds unavailable to the poor and needy - and the public doesn't think 'wow, God is truly amongst these people'.
Sorry, I know it's easy to just criticise - but honestly, if only they could see what 'message' they are really spreading....

November Study WT "Train You Child to Love Going Door 2 Door"
by JW_Rogue inbeen catching up on some jw reading and found a gem in the november study wt in the first article, paragraph #11:.
yet, you might look beyond the obvious and ask yourself, does my child enjoy the ministry or only the breaks?
if you discern that the ministry could be more interesting or more rewarding for your children, set goals with them.

I, as an adult, initially I actually grew to love field service - I wanted people to find happiness, spiritual solace....I have to say, over time, it became more about socially connecting with other witnesses, because, it was obvious that mainly it was the mentally impaired who took any long term interest (I'm going by the overall mental health of the RVs and studies conducted by the members of WTBs) - heck? What does that say about me???? :-)
When I first 'came into the truth' - the belief was that we were part of the judging and separating work - how sick is that for a young child to manage?
Not that it's any better these days - we have a history of lies and deception in the org - these men are disgusting.

A question .....
by Landy inhi guys - new poster here.
i was brought up a jw in the uk and stopped going not long after i was married.
that was 20 years ago so i'm not really up to date with the current doctrinal flip flops or the new youtube obsessed gb.. came across this site while googling the name of a local elder who's just been convicted of possesion of a pc full of unpleasant pics of kids.. so, my question.

It's been agony fading away and losing 20 years worth of friendships and close bonds with a few who were like family......I can't imagine what it would be like to lose children, parents etc.
This religion sucks the natural compassion and humanity out of its members - leaving them in a 'captive' and enforced membership.....

The ironic beauty of it all -
Active born in JWs go out in ministry to pull in people - into their world of craziness.
I know personally of several 'doubters' who care more about their material and personal comforts than being searchers .....

I hated this photo - a kid dressed up in a suit.
It reminded me of a 'sister' who came running to me a couple of years ago...
Knowing that I was not going to meetings, somehow she thought it was a good idea to visit and tell me just how much she hated the meetings, the so called fellowship and how her child had broken down several times at the misery of having to stand up and give a bible reading in ministry school, and how he couldn't bear thinking that his classmates would die in a horrid way (see WT illustrations) at Armageddon - she couldn't bear what it was doing to him.
I listened but didn't add too much fuel to the fire at the time - I had my own thoughts and concerns. But it hit me that this dear little man was in such turmoil - yet if you met him, he seemed like a happy, sunny kind of kid.
Apparently, what she could bear in the long term was the financial goodies of being married to an uber wealthy born in husband.
Fuck the misery that she 'professed' to have had as a young witness growing up, and the ongoing misery she 'professed' to have as an adult - and worse still, the turmoil that her son was experiencing as he tried to work out how to live in a world of angry, back biting dysfunctional adults who dressed up nice, and then went to spread the good news that unless you became one of them, you'd be bird food.
I can think of too many lovely kids, dressed up like performing monkies, sold a Caleb or Sophia badge, sent out with the same pile of lies as we were - and voila, you have a young Christian.
My God, there has to be a better way.

Elders who dislike other congregation elders
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy congregation had four elders who had different personalities.you would see a little friction among themselves.. #1 self-righteous and the 800 pound gorilla.he would push everyone around in the congregation and even some fellow elders.. # 2 elder was around 80 years old and looked like he stuck around a little too long.it looked like he was around because he never decided to give up the position.his duty became very light as he aged.. # 3 elder was in his early 30's and newly elected.he made no waves and whatever was asked of him in the congregation he would do.easy to push around like a little puppy dog.. #4 elder (who everyone liked ) was easy to get along with and had a family who everyone loved.
he didn't like elder # 1. they had a power struggle amongst each other which everyone observed while the meetings were in session.. here are 2 small verbal fights that i observed while the congregation meetings were in session:.
while elder # 1 was giving a talk ( heavy rain storms are brewing outside with loud thunder and lightning ) the microphones and lights are knocked out.we lost all power and could barely see.

You know - as some would say, you really can't make this stuff up.
The amount of sheer malice that went on, the miserable power struggles - we saw and heard it all - thinking perhaps it was just local initially.
Then, as our network of 'friends' quickly spread, we heard and encountered more and more...horrendous stuff went on.
Everywhere.
'Imperfect men' - Love covers a multitude of sins' - "keep putting up with one another" - these scriptures and noble thoughts kept us from saying 'NO' to all this.
But then, after many years - we had to say, there is something seriously, seriously wrong with all this. It's beyond normal human imperfections. The dishonesty and manipulative writing styles in the publications were beyond normal human imperfections.
Who would want to expose any 'neighbour' to all this internal horror?
There is a deep sickness amongst this human network. Seriously. And all painted over with niceness, nice clothes, clean shaven faces, spotless KHs.
Are the people more moral? Absolutely not.
In a community that spends huge amounts of time being taught by the Org - the amount of 'sin' is remarkable. In fact, it's explosive - and always has been.

Just want to say that I feel for you.
Your story has really rattled me - suddenly elders are desperate to meet, because some 'sisters' saw him in the company of a woman at a restaurant.
Causing chaos and mayhem wherever they go - a culture of nasty little busy bodies.

"High" education
by Esmeralda001 indid any of you guys disregard the wt recommendations and pursue a career.
if you answer "yes": was your journey easy?
are you happy with the end result?

The 'higher education' thing is truly confusing.
On one hand the org cheerfully utilises the skills of degree qualified members....then they slap down the notion of wanting to get a university education as being 'prideful' when addressing the rank and file. It doesn't leave a great deal of room for self accountability - choices come with a tick of approval or not.
Interstingly, the GB spread the idea that if you go to University, you endanger your spiritual health....and potentially could draw away from your Heavenly Father...
Yet, I have attended two different churches in the past couple of years, both highly populated with qualified doctors, nurses, teachers etc ( and other professions requiring a degree) - I've got to know a few of these people ( including extended family etc and add to that my own extended family) - their heartfelt love for God and neighbour seems pretty sound to me.
PS - Thats not meant to be a church promotion! It's just an observation.... University did not lead these folk into the dens of black iniquity!
