My brother died last night
by LisaRose ini found out this morning that my brother died last night, he was also an ex jw, 73 years old and died of heart disease and kidney failure.
it was not totally unexpected, as he had been in poor health, but it's a blow, especially as i just lost another brother two years ago.
there were six of us, now only four.

I'm confused - why would you, a mature woman engage in name calling criticism towards two young people who are trying to make sense of their world?
Even if there IS fault or reasons to question some of their statements from YOUR point of view, it seems harmful to use abusive and shaming language towards young people.
As older women we have an accountability to be patient and tender with the young - these young folk are someone's daughter, son.....sorry, but I had to speak up.
Let them be.
They were speaking from THEIR observations and experiences, all of which I have observed myself....from time to time, I also have seen and observed situations they described.
Of course, any observation is at risk of being a generalisation....but this is THEIR story - their experiences from a young persons point of view....any caring active JW would do well to listen up and listen hard.
Think of the raw courage they had as a couple to leave their warm and cosy spot as beloved, popular pioneers because they knew something was very wrong.....

Thankful for my babies
by BeautifulMind ini hope everyone is having a good day/night.
so i was just reflecting on how happy i am to have my babies, despite the orgs.
not so subtle requests that married couples not have babies in order to further serve the org.

I'm sure it is 'nicer and easier' for some to pick and choose in the way you describe.
But hardly in keeping with a sense of loyalty to the leadership's directions, who are 'god's mouthpiece' - you know?
We were taught that self sacrifice and obedience strengthened our Christian character and faith ...... I am aware that on 'ground level' many in the congregations pay scant attention to the latest pronouncements of the FDS, choosing life styles and making choices that don't really sync with a faith that believes the end is truly nigh...I wonder how it will go when the forewarned instructions demanding obedience which such may seem 'unreasonable from a human standpoint' quote are delivered.
Do you think the split in the congregations between those who are faithfully obedient to the FDS and those who 'pick and choose' will become very apparent?
It truly seems to me, many seat warmers are made up of those who simply choose a highly social and connected network - whilst an internal desire for the truly spiritual and for TRUTH is somewhat diluted? What do you think DY?

DY,
A true believing JW obeys and follows the words and 'encouragement' of the FDS.
THAT is the nature of true JW faith.
So really, we now have a situation it seems where in these far more 'urgent' times of the last days ( compared to previous decades) where 'apparently' people's lives are at stake as to whether they worship Jehovah under the direction of the FDS or not, where obedience to 'Jesus's brothers' is the hallmark of a true Christian identity - where edicts are issued warning that in the future, JWs might be asked to obey instructions which may seem unreasonable 'from a human standpoint' - you are explaining that in your congregation 'smart' folk pick and choose?
Smiling here. Wow.

We were proving our faith by waiting for the new system - no family or children for us....and we watched as the generation now living DID pass away before 'the end' and watched all the next generation born ins have babies, babies, babies.
A childless marriage. Thanks for the encouragement dear 'guardians of doctrine'....perhaps when you are not too busy looking at sale and purchase agreements, you could stop on by and sit with a weeping woman past her childbearing years for whom it is too late.

"well beyond the intent of the scriptures" 7:44
by biblexaminer inif you have the jw app running on your tablet, watch the latest (may) governing broadcast and hear tony the jackass, and when you get to 7 minutes and 44 seconds ...hit the pause button.. read the words at the bottom of the screen as per the jw app close captioning.. "well beyond the intent of the scriptures" .
he is describing the governing body past, like the ghost of christmas past.
yes, the governing body past were a bunch of freaking yahoo's violating 1 cor.

No problem with recorded and published acceptance by a GB member that the FDS has been known to go 'beyond the intent of scripture' - in context of the organisation's observations on marriage versus singleness - even if this was more prevelant decades ago.
Women like me find ourselves beyond childbearing years and childless because of this 'beyondness' - I know many, many couples of my generation who remained childless because we were faithfully waiting for the 'new system' to have families.
Mr Morris and team - You would do well to reflect on the painful afflictions that your 'beyondness' has brought down on the lives of many.....from the past to present day.
Please stop. Please - just stop.

Contradictions of the "no blood" policy....
by stuckinarut2 inso according to witnesses, the bible states that all blood is sacred, and once it leaves the body's circulatory system it must be "poured out on the ground" to show respect to jehovah.. it mustn't be eaten or transfused.. so how do they justify it being ok to take in fractions of blood components when these have been produced from donated whole blood?.
the whole blood was not "poured out".
it was taken to a laboratory, stored, manipulated, put through processes to separate parts of it, broken down etc.... it certainly was not "dealt with in a sacred way".. and yet these blood fractions are deemed "ok" by the society?.

I no longer accept the WT interpretation regarding blood transfusions.
And it was a biggie for me - I was well and truly thunderstruck to realise how 'at odds' this interpretation is - Blood is obviously not quite so sacred if it can be donated and collected - for whatever purpose.

A huge red flag for me when I worked that one out a few years ago.......HUGE.
It can't be reconciled, it can't be excused away.
Abstain from blood? On pain of spiritual death?
But.....?

Where did Jehovah go ?
by Deleteandrestart infor the many years i was mentally " in " the congregation, i equated the organisation as interchangeable with the persona of jehovah, in effect whatever the organisation said or thought, that was what jehovah thought and that was what jehovah said.... it was that simple.
so when i found out the ttatt and the cynical moves of the organisation over the years, including 1975 , the donation arrangements, the united nations, etc i was devastated and thought " where's jehovah in all of this?".
the god who i'd poured my heart out to on many occasions and who i thought was silently listening and hearing my pleas ..... was not there , .

One of the best OPs I have read on the painful effects of seeing the 'org' as not the representation of the very persona of God, 'Jehovah'.....because that is exactly how witnesses are manoeuvred and manipulated to think....and that spiritually rests on delusions and half truths, and too many rules and edicts that have no basis in Love....
It is a 'scorched earth' scenario in the aftermath.
'Keep knocking, keep searching' - Those words have meant much to me - I believe they are written for a reason....it's a journey.
