The best turkeys are home grown; not only do you know what your cooking, but who. I raised turkeys for my last few years fading, nobody ever said anything to me about that.

As a JW did you "take a turkey" or accept the Xmas Bonus?
by confusedjw ini felt it hypocritical to take a turkey abviously meant for thanksgiving.
i didn't like buying the easter candy after easter either as it was "food sacrificed to idols".. years ago at a place i worked they gave out a xmas bonus which i returned.
( a few hundred dollars which we sure could have used) they assured me that it was an "end of the year" bonus.

I don't activly target JWs and "anti-preach". I do try to be aware of the moment with people, and if the time feels right, I will offer them help or whatever they might "need" to progress on their life path.

Bad news about the house. : /
by Elsewhere ini have been holding off making a public announcement for awhile because i have been waiting for all of the paperwork to become official... but the company that is building my house has been dragging their feet, trying to delay the inevitable.. the bottom line is this: i won't be able to buy the house.
when i was doing contract work, i was making x amount of money.
i had anticipated a pay cut caused by my becoming a permanent employee, but the pay cut turned out to be more substancial than i had anticipated.

I think you made a wise choice to hold off on the house. I think it sucks that realtors and mortgage people will fanangle and wiggle to squeeze a family into a home. Then something happens, the family looses their house, and are out. The dealers thought still get their cut.

Religion and Spirituality

while i understand where that's coming from, what does it actually mean?
i can see where someone can be spiritual without being religious, just as we can see religious people not being spiritual, but what do each of those look like?

When I say to others, "I try to be spiritual, but am not religious." I am distancing myself from organized religion. Most understand what I am saying by not saying it. That I (We?) want nothing to do with organized religious belief systems and the limits that that imposes upon our freedom to think and choose.
I don't like to say "I'm spiritual", because many of the people I've encountered in my life who claimed that were not in fact spiritual, or moral, which is what they were trying to imply.

I's also put time in that mix Cowboy. A persons truth is unique to them for any given moment. So is truth another word for Identity? Identity being the person and as time passes they change/grow.
