I do believe that when we allow ourselves to get large, that it does change our chemistry. Metabolism. Neurotransmitters. But I do believe that we can over ride these with some concerted effort. I see myself as proof of that. No, I', not a 160lb kid anymore who can pack away a tub of icecream and go mountain biking like nothing just happened. But I also don't have to have another plate or three or four and lay around with indigestion like Jabba The Hut.

Is obesity a disability?
by Sadie5 inhi all, just dropping by and throwing out a question or two.. two of our department managers are both very obese and therefore cannot do all the tasks that their positions require of them.
as a result of that, the peak time workers, those working while the store is most busiest, end of doing a lot of the physical work they leave for us.
it gets pretty hectic when people are trying to shop and we are getting out ladders and stocking shelves.

Former JW- new here....
by disillusioned youth inhi guys and gals....... .
i would just like to extend greetings to all those poor souls who had to endure the torturous childhood of growing up in a strict jw lifestyle as i had.
i didn't know that there were such forums on the net, and i was made aware of this by my sister who is also a member here, i believe.. i find this kind of funny really.

Welcome DY.
:::I re-read what I quoted here, and realize the person writing is not nessesarily a JW apologist(?). But I want to leave what I wrote here. Perhaps I just have a perverted and bitchy sense of humour today.
The "outlook on life" as derived from your post is not particularly life-affirming is it? I mean to look forward to being wormfood doesn't exactly embolden one with hope and encouragement to keep living, especially at an age where health and strength begin to fail.
My view is simply this: EVEN IF I KNOW THE JW BELIEF-PARADIGM to be wrong in certain aspects (or any Christian outlook for that matter) ISN'T THERE VALUE THERE in that it can provide structure and meaning to one's life? I think so.
(That is what all religion is and does after all.) (The alternative extreme which I would judge from your post is what you believe is that we are just animals, products of evolution, there is no Diety or spiritual realm. If that is so, then the evident conclusion for all of us is to enjoy and make the best out of this life cause this time around is all we have.)
Wow, you must be psychic or something. that is alot of information to get from such a small sample.
I will go one step further, I believe strongly that if the JW BELIEF-PARADIGM (i.e. religion)
CAN BE A BEAUTIFUL AND VERY POSITIVE AND LIFE-AFFIRMING RELIGION (i.e. system or paradigm to structure one's life by). In order for this to happen it need only be STRIPPED of its HARMFUL elements (DF'ng practice/greatly modified, blood-ban, procedural changes (i.e. Megan's Law-type notification for child molesters, harder penalties, more cooperation with authorities, and certain other things) and SHED of all of its SILLY and ARCHAIC elements (like the publishing activities, hierarchal structure, and certain and numerous "rules" and "regulations").
Up is Down and Down is Up! Even a dictator has good intentions, no? Anywho, I'm done with this; I'm going back to my Chai Latte, and you go back to your Jehovah-Berry-Punch KoolAid
DY: I hope that you are not as depressed and feeling hopeless like our KoolAid drinking friend believes; but I do sense alot of ager from you, perhaps not rage, but a sarcastic, cynical bent. What ever you are feeling and thinking, know that it is OK. I do hope that you can find a channel to release any compressed emotions you are holding onto, as these can make you physically sick.

Management won't consider her for any advanced positions because of her learning problems. In fact they often find it humorous when she applies for positions.
This is why I can't stand most "management" in the corporate world. They think they are so smart, and that us stupid (dyslexic) people are SO funny.
OK, I just noticed something, I think I am in the middle of a "Bipolar" moment, so I'm going to shut up for the rest of the day.

"pick up the slack"
I have ZERO tolerance for fat people who inflict their "dissability" onto others.
I do feel sympathecti to people who are dyslexic and have trouble with written information.
I used to weight in at about 275, I'm down to 225-230. Being a fat toad was no longer acceptable to me, so I made the choice to change. When I graduated HS, I was the same height, but weighted only 155. At 6'1", that is a bit too thin, but what ever. Alas, my 28" waiste will never return.
I'm still chunky here&there, and still am working toward my goal physical build, but at this point I am content with who I am, and do not care what body image is for sale to me.
I am also dylexic, dysgraphic, and severly ADHD. I look at these "dissabilities" as assets, as they help one to think and live outside the box.
If people who are very large, truly enjoy that life, then good for them; but they need to know that they made that fat bed and they can slumber in it without rolling onto me.

Where do you think evil (or bad behavior) comes from?
by wordlywife inbeing worldly i try to get my head around this sometimes, and wondered what others opinions are.
being that my husband is a long time witness i know what the witness view is, it is all satan's doing.
since most of you are "out", has your view on the source of evil/unacceptable behavior, (whatever you personally find just out-right wrong, for me it is child sexual abuse), changed?

This begs me to ask you the question... In these examples do you think the 'evil' began by their being curious, or did it only become 'evil' when they took a liking to satisfying that curiosity?
I think that in part, it may be an inability to empathise with others or "those not self". The kid pulling off the butterfly's wing might just act out of the impulse, but if he for just a moment froze and went over his thinking process, he might ask himself, "Would I like it if a stronger-bigger-than-me-thing pulled my arms off?"
Now, what if some stupid punk is mugging someone. What if he for just a moment, stopped and thought, "This woman is someone's mother. If some idiot did this to my mom, I'd be pissed."
I believe that everything we do, think, and even feel, is by our choice. I think that it is when we are aware of our choices and the consequences of our choices, to ourselves and others, that we tend to be less evil. That is not an absolute.

What is the bible for?
by Smoky ini was just wondering the other day about the bible, in a different manner than i usually would (inspired by god).. it is like if i were a atheist, or something........ so what is the bibile?.
is it a rule book, that we must follow?
a guide we reference to enrich our lives?

Welcome to the "Out side of the Box". It is kind of interesting to go back and forth, now that you know you can escape it--just for the sake of exploring the viewpoints from different angles.
As for the Babble and faith being "Evil", in themselves they are not, but when humans who are inclined to be evil get ahold of these tools, they can be perverted to do immense harm. That sentence is kinda funny; I do not mean that all humans are inclined to evil, I just mean that those who are nasty can really muck things up for the rest of us.

When I'm licensed, or at least got some training, it would be cool to have a bunch of us get together for Aposta-Massage-Fests.
