WOULD YOU GIVE THE JW'S THIS?
by integ ina jw relative brought out something i actually had to agree with.
we were discussing positive vs. negative aspects of the "truth".
she brought out that the witnesses do not participate in war, and i thought 'gee, that's probably a good thing'.

I agree with the public speaking comment. I Personally benifited from that. In my line of work( I own a marketing co) I have to deal with a lot of rejection and I think going from door to door built me up for that as well the thocratic ministry school prepared me to be able to speak clearly and inteligently. I am not saying that these qualities could not be learned anywhere else. But in my case it helped.

Att: ex-Elders and Their Kids: Did You Really Have a Regular Family Study?
by Room 215 infriends, this is a sort of poll, directed mainly at -- but not limited to --ex-elders, their wives and kids.
it was my impression that, with the possible exception of meaningful personal prayer, the other aspect of the idealized, exemplary jw lifestyle that was portrayed at the assemblies and at meetings-- the regular, weekly family bible study -- was the one most neglected.
it seemed to be something the ``other" spiritual family did and the one thing we constantly agreed we ``needed to work on.".

Wow I can not believe how many people did not have a family study. My dad still is an elder and every morning we had to get up at 6:00am and study the Daily Text, Then on Monday nights We always had a family study usually the watchtower. We would have to read it then go back and read it again with the answer and then read it a third time with all the scriptures looked up and commented on. It usually lasted 2 and a half hrs.It was awfull. We never missed a family study no matter where we were.I am so glad that I am not brainwashed anymore.

tattoos...did you rebel and get one?
by morty inafter i left the "troof" the first thing i did was run out and get a tattoo.now ,some 18 years later i still dont regret it.i even have gotten a couple of new ones in the past couple of years......i mean not that i am covered in them, but i think if a women has them ,there is nothing wrong with that has long as they are not all over everywhere.ie...neck,face or lower arms......... i just think it is sexy on a man..( a few....not on the same areas as the women ..ie..face and neck as well.
) but for a women to have them all over her is not attractive....i think for a women to have a couple in a suddle place..( like for your partner to see or find.lol) is sexy as well...this girl in our town, has them covering her face and arms.i just think she looks scary......(i do also think that they must be done professionally and kept realistic.
)...i know your not to judge a book by its cover but, this girl wonders why, parents will not let children to her house to play with her child?

Hi guys I am new to this forum. I admit to being guilty of lurking for a few days. I really love this forum. I am 22 years old. I was df'ed when I was 17 years old. I was kicked out of my home and sent to live on my own at 17. I really wasn't guilty of anything other than being young. My father was the PO of a congregation. He took the power to his head. I had a fairly abusive relationship with my father. So of course I rebelled just like anyone else would have. I was in love with a ministerial servant and my father found out. That was absoultly not allowed. So I then got engaged to a "worldly" man and was then put out of my house and actually out of that country. The funny thing is that I had never even did anything wrong to be df'ed for just the fact that I was engaged they assumed that we had slept together but we hadn't.They live in another country as need greaters. So I have now survived 5 years on my own and am currently very happy. Ironically if I hadn't of been df'ed I would not have met my husband of 2 years, So I guess that is where I am lucky. I am so glad I have found this forum it seems very encouraging and happy.
