  for those of you that grew up in the "truth" what did you get to play with/watch on tv?

  i keep reading about what you couldn't have or watch so what did you do?

  As a kid, we had the usual toys. I had sports equipment and my sister had her dolls (Cabbage Patch, even). But as we got older, we mostly played board/card/dice games:
  -Yahtzee
  -Uno
  -Skipbo
  -Sorry!
  -Trouble (with the pop-o-matic bubble!)
  -Monopoly
  -Life
  -Dominos
  -Farkle
  -Greedy
  -Rummy

  But my favorite was "Spoons" when you had a really big group. I'd love to get the four of a kind and sneak one out without anyone realizing I had done it. Good thing you used spoons and not knives or forks. It was dangerous enough as it was! My mother bought silverware at yardsales just to get spoons to play the game with. We ruined a few of her "good" spoons one particularly rowdy night.

  Mine is pretty simple. I'm a guy; and I'm from the country. Plus it's been my AOL screen name for years. When I signed up here, I brought it with me.

  Of course when I signed up, I didn't realize that it was so close or that I would have the same initials as my pal Country Girl. That's why I sign everthing "Country." We Google War-ed over using "CG" and she won!

  Which songs remind you or take you back to what events?

  there are a ton of songs i hear that take me back to certain times of my life or one event in particular: .

  pour some sugar on me- def leppard-- my sixth grade last day of school party .

  parents just dont understand-dj jazzy jeff and the fresh prince--the summer going into six grade, i remember recording the song and trying to memorize all the words .

  Lady in Red, by Chris DeBerg: Dancing with my friend Michelle at the wedding reception of another friend. She was a bride's maid and the dresses were all red. She was so very lovely and I remember thinking... "I wonder if he's gay?" Seriously, I remember thinking that that was going to be one of those moments that will stick in my mind for the rest of my life. Any time I hear that song, or think about her... that's what I remember. And, I hope that's how she remembers me, because I was 75 lbs. lighter then!!

  i love halloween!

  i love getting all dressed up in whatever, going to a local hangout (bar) where all my buddies are, and checking out what they dressed up as.

  I guess holidays are the last thing that I still have a JW mindset on. I just don't get excited about them. This Christmas was more enjoyable than others, though. So hopefully I'm getting rid of that thought process.

  I'd have to say, I enjoy any holiday where I get a day off and get paid for it.

  in another post someone mentioned americans loving micro beers - and i thought about beers i drink and why.

  i drink budweiser on occasion because they sponsor events i like.

  i drink miller high life on occation just because of the great 'lone man talking' commercials.

  One of the good things that happened to me when living in Texas was that I discovered there are more beers in the world than Bud Lite.

  While there, I discovered Shiner Bock, Fat Tire and Corrona. All very good, but here I usually get my old stand by Bud. Vino's is one of the local brewpubs in Little Rock. They have one they call Firehouse Stout. I highly recommend it if you're ever in town.

  Letter to JW-Inlaws

  i have drafted the following letter to send to my partner?s inlaws & family (with his approval).

  this has been an ongoing situation & i am most concerned that his kids are going to hear these lies & this will destroy the pleasant relationship that i have with them.

  i'm also getting sick of not defending myself & having to put up with all this endless crap!

  ive been here for around 5 years, but rarely write these days.

  well i had to tell everybody the good news.. since i drifted away (thanks to many but mostly simon and fakel) i have helped 7 people leave.

  today my mom has told me shes never going back.

  Elder Pleads For Money For Local Needs Talk!

  my mother was telling me how the elder went up on the platform and said how we can't pass donation plates around, we can't sell cookies or do bake drives, we pretty much can't beg for money.

  then he said that at the risk of getting himself in trouble, it needed to be said that they don't know what they're going to do, but they need money and contributions.

  my mother said that there are very few donating money and the congregation is in continual debt plus all the wealthier people have stopped going....i thought of metatron and knew he'd be delighted to hear another testimonial.

  As a reminder to the brothers handling the congregation accounts, donations placed in the boxes for the Worldwide Work and for the Kingdom Hall Fund are to be remitted monthly and should not be used for payment on a Kingdom Hall property loan or for any other congregation expense.

  Can't you just feel the love....
