what a funny man.
i'll miss him!
arts & culturecomedian rodney dangerfield dies .
The Rodney Dangerfield line that I remember the most (for some reason) went something along the lines of:
"I don't get no respect. Jehovah's Witnesses knocked on my door the other day. When I opened the door, they looked at me and said, 'Sorry, we're not interested.'"

ok usually i'll be drinking iced tea when i read... sometime coffee if i read in the am.
i've tried reading while mr.panda is watching tv but that doesn't always work.
so what do you do while you read?
I usually read on my lunch break. I'd much rather read that be in the breakroom trying to avoid that freak from accounting.

all of my life,, except for the last two years i was a jw, and i wonder if i will always feel like i am still so very different from the rest of most everyone i know.
i guess i still feel like i am on the "outside" looking in, in on the world of the people i was so alienated from for so long.. i celebrate birthdays, all the holidays, i stand for the national anthemn, but still it does not quiet feel second nature to me .
as i stand watching my son play high school football, my mind is always wandering on the marvel of what i am seeing.
I'm right there with you guys. I think there's always going to be a little bit of me that feels different because of the JWs. Will this Christmas be the one where I don't find an excuse to be gone when Wayne put's up the tree? We'll see. When they sing Happy Birthday to my neice, will I be there singing or in the kitchen "getting ice?" Not sure. When I go to vote (at a Methodist Church none the less) will I not keep looking over my shoulder to see if the elders have seen me? Who knows? Eventually, it won't bother me.
To me, it's a lot like when I came out of the closet. It's something you have to do on your own time. No one can make you feel comfortable with the holidays or birthdays or patriotic stuff. It might take one person months to reach their comfort zone, but another person may take years. Neither one is right or wrong.
One last thought: everyone, no matter what their upbringing, feels like they are different in one way or another. So, in essence, we're all alike.

how's the weekend going for you?
mrs ozzie and i have been enjoying doing...........nothing much this afternoon and evening.
we just needed to recharge our batteries so to speak.
5. As big as the si book, songbook, and Bible.
I didn't really need one that big. But my best friend's parents bought it for me as a graduation gift.
I still have it. It's in a box in storage. And yes, it's filled with WT stuff. I have my grandmother's copy of the NWT and her songbook, which I am keeping only because they were hers.

i was thinking last night that 9/11/01, for this generation, is somewhat akin to 11/22/63 (jfk's assassination) for previous generations.
i remember listening to the adults' stories when i was a child of where they were and what they were doing when jfk was assassinated.. so where were you on 9/11/01?
how has that day affected your life?.
I had gotten up early to take care of a speeding ticket in municipal court. On my way home from there, the dj's on the radio announced that an airplane had just hit the WTC. These two yahoo's were always pulling stunts and this sounded like something they would do. As they went on, I remember thinking to myself, "These two have gone way too far this time. I'm not listening to them again!" I changed the station and it was on that one. I knew something was wrong... terribly wrong. I walked in the door right after the plane hit the second tower. I immediately called my partner, then my parents. I was working in retail at that time. I was the closing manager and the store was empty by 7:30 that night. We were instructed by the corp. office to close early, and to go home to our families.
It made me realize how much I love each and everyone of my family. None of us were even close to New York that day, but it didn't matter. I just wanted to hold each of them and keep them all safe.

well , with so many posts about pets i thought i'd ask this question.
we have 3 great pyrenees dogs.
the oldest is 11yrs and the youngest is 4yrs old.
We have two lab mixes and they are the best dogs.
Emmett is a labmation (black lab/dalmation) mix. He's very territorial and is sure to let us know if someone or thing is infringing on our territory. But, he's quick to learn who belongs there (i.e. new neighbors).
Deogie is a yellow lab/rott mix. He's so sweet and gentle. But the poor baby is going blind. Thank goodness we have a big, fenced yard for him. You'd never know by the way he gets around back there.
