  Rejection by a Six Year Old

  i have to share an experience, and i'm sure it won't be mentioned at the kh on thursday night!!.

  this morning while eating breakfast with my parents and my six year old nephew at a local fast food restaurant, some jws came in for their morning break.

  my folks and i are all inactive, so i leaned over and said, "i hope they didn't see us.

  Country Woman, The brother's jaw kinda dropped open, making him look like a catfish. I bolted before laughter overcame me. I honestly don't think he expected that by any means.

  Gumby, He may have picked up on a few things, I guess. But for the most part, we don't talk about the JWs in front of him. He's kinda the reason my folks are out of the org now. My sister was very rebellious and got pregnant with him in her teens. She was never baptised and unofficially label "bad association" early on. My folks stood by her (as any good parent should do) and didn't much appreciate "visiting" with the elders every weekend for a month, when all they said was the same thing over and over. My folks refuse to talk about it, and that's all I have been able to get out of them. But, you know I thank God every day (in soooo many ways) for that little man!

  I suspect that the reason he refused the book was because he is soooo smart.... Okay, actually, it was probably because it had too many pages with words on them! He doesn't like reading that much, yet.

  its all in the heading and incase any of u are of greek origine or know the language ....my user name is meant for all of u in a way u formed ur own congregation against god and his people ...there for my user name is a remider to u all of what u come off as.....good bye maybe some of u will see what teh world is like as i have and seek god once again maybe not watever the choice maybe god will judge u ..all off u and me aswell and al lhis peopel aswell.

  Anyway, Zelevis. Go where you are happiest. And if that is with the WTS, stay there. And please, pay close attention to the brother at the Theocratic Ministry School. Formatting posts should be much like giving a talk. The better thought out it is... the easier it will be for your audience to understand you. Honestly, you rambled so bad in your posts, I kept hearing the voice of Barney Gumbel from the Simpson's. D'oh!

  This morning while eating breakfast with my parents and my six year old nephew at a local fast food restaurant, some JWs came in for their morning break. My folks and I are all inactive, so I leaned over and said, "I hope they didn't see us." They did. I guess as a way to keep their time going during break, they came over to the table to say hello and encourage us to come back to the meetings ("We sure do miss you.") One older brother that always gave me the creeps as a kid, reached into his bookbag and pulled out the Great Teacher book and handed it to my nephew. (I guess he was thinking easy placement or something.) My nephew takes the book, looks at it, looks at my parents, looks at me and then hands it back to the brother. "No thanks. I don't like this." He then asks if he can go play in the playground area. I took him there as fast as I could. Hoping I wouldn't burst out laughing before I was out of earshot! What a great day today was!!!!!!

  What Was Your Biggest Gripe About The Elders???

  after reading some of the pain that you've gone through, in many cases, the elders weren't there at all for you.

  i'm wondering what your biggest complaint about the elders is.

  The whole judiciary system they have is messed up. You can't be DF'd for something unless there are two witnesses to alleged offense (i.e. child molesting). However, one elderly sister thinks she sees you kissing a girl in a restaurant and you get yanked into the study/second school/library/torture chamber so quick your head spins.

  It turns out they knew there was no way it could have been me. I was out of town during the time that it happened, with the PO's son none-the-less, at a neighboring circuit's assembly. After I brought this point to their attention, they told me that hey had to discuss the matter with me so the congregation would not think that they were ignoring their duties as elders.

  the society and education

  experience over the weekend.

  just to clarify..... sad is the societys official acronym for special assembly day.

  i attended yesterday at the brooklyn assembly hall with approximately 1,800 others.

  Well, of course the society doesn't want little dubbies to go to college. College usually means you have to think for you self! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  Actually, I remember going to college and trying to be a witless.... er, I mean witness. It wasn't anything I learned at school that made me want to stop going to the meetings. It was the actions of the witnesses themselves. I was working full time, going to school (graduated with honors) and still attending all five meetings and field service. But, the way they treated me, you'd think I was DF'd. Most looked at me like I had farted in the KH. This was both in my "home" congregation and the one in the town where I went to college.

  Personally, I'm surprised the society doesn't encourage congregations to send the really smart little dubbies to one specific school. Where, much like the methodists, baptists and catholics, they could have a JW Student Union to keep control of them and "counter-act" any thinking they do for themselves. This would enable each congregation to have one or two college graduates, thus boosting the contribution amounts.

  now i was only a kid at the time, but some i can remember ....... the carpenters.......goodbye to love/yesterday once more .

  oh my friends, my buddies...could you do this old lady a favor if you have a couple of minutes???

  my son's band...tree of woe...was played on one of our local radio stations tonight...in a "music knock-out"...and if they win they will get played another night!

  What scams did you use for counting your time?

  flowerpetals post and thread reminded me of some of the scams we would use to try to show the maximum numbers of hours spent in "service" for the smallest amount of effort.

  here's some of the ones i remember...just wondered if any of you had any other memories.. .

  We used to write letters to the "Not-at-Homes" we could never catch at home. It was just a generic letter that I think said something about a paradise Earth, quoted a few scriptures, and gave the local Kingdom Hall's phone number, address and meeting schedule. The time that you spent writing it counted as service. After rough drafts, rewrites and then writing it one last time for good penmanship, I could easily get 2 hours out of one letter. Then you take that one letter to Kinko's and make ten copies.... BAM! 20 hours! (One sister in the congregation used to send letters to the families of people in the obituaries.) For me, the price of a stamp was well worth not having to talk to anyone.
