Funny Story, I started reading Reddit today....
by eyefell4it2 inok so maybe i am a bit old school, late to the party, or whatever but i just discovered some subreddits (other than ex-jw) that have me completely addicted to the site.
for the whole afternoon, i have been going through the tifu section (pm me if you can't find the meaning of the acronym but just google it and the meaning should come up).
anyways, i thought i would share some funny ones here because, hey, we all need a good laugh and there's plenty of laugh provoking material on the net.

Disfelowshipping / Expelling
by freein2004 inthe insight book volume 1 page 788 uses matthew 5:22 and acts 10:28 as biblical support for dfing and shunning.. thoughts?
hopefully someone upload the insight book page here.
i don't have the means.. i should have said that basically the top paragraph in the insight book is supporting shunning because the israelites shunned the man of the nations and tax collectors?

They always twist scripture to fit their agenda. For Bible thumpers, they sure do follow man (the GB) and try to prophesy in Jehober's name an awful lot. Also they say to abstain from blood except for certain portions and cow blood (can't seem to find that scripture which oks said practice in my bible but ok) and also manage to ignore other commands (including caring for the poor, widows and fatherless children) but whatevs. They will ALWAYS find some obscure scripture and devote tons of absurd meaning to it while ignoring the scriptures with clear, blatant advice/commands. Go figure. Who would've thought a cult would do such a thing? SMDH
Ps-I am suprised (not really) they have a grand 2 scriptures to support that practice but ignore whole accounts of Jesus and others interacting with sinners.
Also, they left these parts out in their sorted interpretation:
Acts 10:28-But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean. (NIV)
Matt 5:22-whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; (NSV)
Just my observations.

Anyways, I thought I would share some funny ones here because, hey, we all need a good laugh and there's plenty of laugh provoking material on the net. So please enjoy, post your own funny stuff from that section or any part of the net. Everyone needs a break right? Especially on Wed (so ESPECIALLY if your at the Kingdumb Hall please read to stay awake Enjoy .) My funniest so far is linked below.

How many of you still believe in God or are still Christians?
by JWCartPusher inhello, i asked a new but old friend how many people are still christians after leaving the watchtower's mind control agency, for statistical purposes do you mind if i do a survey and see how many of you are believers?.
please don't post if your not a believer out of respect for this poll, we need to sharpen each other's sword and help build each other up and meet new friends over the internet with faith in god or some other force of the universe.
i asked another person how we can still manage our faith after getting burned by the high group mind control, he had a few ideas but he's not really involved with god because of how life burned him.

What are the legal and financial ramifications to apologize for abuse issues. Anyone know.
by joe134cd ini'm hearing all these comments about how wt dosnt care, is arrogant, unapologetic and is covering it up.
hey and i agree with these comments to a point but as i'm no lawyer and don't know american law what would be the implications if wt did came out and admitted it's errors.
i'm talking front cover wt here.

I was JUST thinking about the idea of them apologizing LITERALLY AS I WAS SMOKING MY DAILY CIG not FIVE MINUTES ago. How convenient you were thinking the same thing. I was pondering this as I was thinking about the reasons I will be providing to my parents should the need arise for why I don't want to attend meetings with them. Main reason: I have young children and any organization the refuses to apologize for the blatant reckless sexually deviant behavior of SEVERAL of its members is a huge no no for my personal moral code. But anyways, I pondered if they would ever apologize and what would happen. Needless to say a hawk swooping down on a bird caught my attention and my line of thinking drifted off. Perhaps I should go outside more often and observe nature instead of thinking about such impossibly foolish hypothetical events right? And btw, I think they won't apologize because it would mean:
A) They were in the wrong. If they were EVER going to apologize, they should've done so during the Conti trial and they did the exact opposite which was deny and refuse to answer
B) Financially, it would hurt them not only because it would hold them culpable for the acts committed but also how many people want to donate money to an organization that admits wrongdoing such a disgusting act.
C) It would mean their policies need to be examined and changed and they would be under a public microscope to do so once they did apologize which would mean they did at some point become aware of such behavior and refuse to alter their policies until forced to publicly. And I DOUBT their "Light" gets that much "Brighter"
D) It would mean they were at some point WRONG about something which as we know, Jehovah's spirit anointed arrangement never could be wrong about anything. (yes that was sarcasm italicized)

March JW Broadcast: Once again disparaging Higher Education - this time in the Music Video.
by cappytan ini will have the music video separated shortly.
will post the link once it's done..

Wow. I am disgusted. I can't even comment on the foolish rubbish this promotes. And maybe had someone gone to school and at least gotten a music degree, the song wouldn't sound like a thousand cats scratching a chalkboard in an empty gymnasium. Just disgusting. -

I have been out for years and my parents USED to mention armageddon and such to me but they don't anymore. Although I don't have much advice I do know you have a great start there above. Also, here are some threads I read which provided information re this whole "end of times" thing. Hope it helps you in your research:

To me, the link directly above about William Miller was the most telling so start there. I did a search of his name on this forum and got several threads so you may want to do the same.
Cover of a Millerite pamphlet (as you can see by the date, that prediction is 172 odd years late....
Hope this helps!
PS- I believe Miller apologized about his false prophecies but other religious groups ran with the predictions anyways.

What's wrong with Christianity?
by eyefell4it2 ini found this comment on a yahoo article re same sex marriage and i happen to agree with it and thought i would share it.
of course there are others that can be added if you specify what's wrong with jehovah's witnesses but i think this list is a good overview.
would anyone else care to add anything to this list or comment?

Thanks everyone, these are all great points. I just realized something about Sodd & Gom (not even going to attempt to spell them right now) is that they were destroyed for such blatant evilness but then what Lot's daughter's did was sick as well so why not destroy them too? So many questions when you base your faith solely on the Bible. It does indeed feel like a jigsaw puzzle with pieces from completely different puzzles added in.

@ Cofty- Thanks, I can think of a few more but they still fall into subsets of the originals (like inequality for women who are seen as property or lesser than men)
@ Talesin- Yes! I didn't even think of that! The bible sort of presents a "bipolar" God view which seems insane to say the least.

Top 10 Problems with Christianity.
1) Relative Time: It makes no sense that the relatively short life we live on this planet, at most 100 years and perhaps as brief as a few minutes, would be used by a God to determine our ultimate destiny, one that will last trillions and trillions of years and beyond.
(2) Lack of Gradation
Christianity proposes that only one of two fates awaits humans after they die — an extremely attractive invitation into Heaven or a miserable, dreadful sentence to Hell. Given the complexities and varieties of human experience, offering only two judgments is absurd.
3) Repentance:
The simple act of repentance will allow someone who to go to Heaven.Ted Bundy, a confirmed murderer of over 30 young women, confessed his sins before his execution and, according to Christian doctrine, was sent directly to Heaven. Bill Gates, an atheist who has lived a virtuous life and has donated more than $27,000,000,000 to global health, development, and education will be sent to Hell.
4) Infant Death
Most Christians believe that people who die at a young age are given a free pass to Heaven. It would seem to suggest that dying at a young age, before encountering the age of accountability, would be the best and safest way to leave Earth. This would guarantee a place in Heaven without having to take a risk of living a potentially failed life in the sight of God.
5) Life
Many Christians believe that life begins at conception and an entire anti-abortion industry has been built around this concept. But it presents a problem. Does a fertilized egg that fails to implant in the uterus go to Heaven? This seems a bit absurd
6) Judas
What he allegedly did actually hastened the salvation of mankind, as defined by Christianity. Without Jesus’ capture and execution, everybody would still be subject to the condemnation of original sin as well as their personal sins, making him a hero.
7) Tiny Drama/Huge Stage
“It doesn’t seem to me that this fantastically marvelous universe, this tremendous range of time and space and different kinds of animals, and all the different planets, and all these atoms with all their motions, and so on, all this complicated thing can merely be a stage so that God can watch human beings struggle for good and evil — which is the view that religion has. The stage is too big for the drama.”
8) Slavery.
The Bible condones Slavery according to Exodus and Leviticus.
9) Christians Ignore Old Testament Laws
Jesus said to follow old testament laws: “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law of the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill."
10) Free Will
We live our lives fully capable of sinning, or dooming ourselves to Hell, because we have Free Will. Yet, we are perfect in Heaven? Do we not have free will in Heaven? If we truly knew that God was real, and if we truly knew the consequences of denying him, how could anyone knowingly reject him? About 30% of the whole world is Christian, so that means 70% are hellbound? Did God give us too little information to make a rational choice, or did he make us too stupid to figure it out? Or is Satan stronger than God? Hell certainly seems to be more populated than Heaven.
BONUS: Splintering
The surest sign of a man-made enterprise is that it splits quickly into many different factions. On the other hand, one initiated by a God would be expected to converge into a tight unity. This is because only those groups that aligned correctly with the divine theological blueprint would receive supernatural support and thereby flourish, attract members, and survive the long term. Any wayward factions would lose favor and couldn't compete for new members.
There are now more than 41,000 Christian denominations, many of which have very disparate beliefs and practices. This is a valid clue that Christianity is a man-made concept.
