The Australian Royal Commission will NOT do a damn thing to the WT!
by Calebs Airplane inthe rothschild family will not allow the aussies to take any significant action against their religious wing (mormons, jws, adventists, etc.).
the worst outcome for the borg will be a relatively small fine and a deadline to change their rules.
that is all..

It creates a permanent record, which is reason enough. It will also make finding of fact based on the evidence, as well as recommendations for improvement. While the recommendations will likely not be mandatory, they will set a standard of best practices. -

Surely the need for ever greater amounts of cash will result in loosening the shunning policy. Like maybe they don't need to shun while in the Kingdom Hall.

Grandchildren pay for the sins of their parents.
by Bonsai inmy wife's mother just related to us an interview she heard during the recent three day convention that she just had to share with us.
a brother and his wife have, for over 20 years, shunned their daughter because she ran off and eloped with a worldly guy.
while openly sobbing, he related how difficult it has been to shun his daughter and avoid unnecessary contact with her and her family.

Poor deluded people. As if any amount of shunning could make me want to return. -

Getting it out of my system, a VERY long introduction/outpouring..
by adimmedlight inwarning, novel ahead:.
after a few months of lurking on this site, i've decided to take the plunge...i don't really care so much about introducing myself, but somehow there is some relief in the thought of getting my little story out there, just getting it out of my system.
i am the oldest of 5 kids.

My history with my dad is very similar to yours. I left at 18 to go to college an hour away from my home town and congregation. If you decide you cannot remain a witness, think seriously about moving to another town. You deserve to give yourself the opportunity to live life for a while as a non-witness and see how it feels. You can always go back to them. -

A brother from a family we knew showed me and my family around bethel when we visited once. I was about ten. I remember walking thru underground tunnels and visiting his high-rise room. He bought me some sesame snaps, the first time I ever tried them. I think I asked him an endless stream of questions. I wonder now how he really felt about the place. -

I was discussing this point with my mom, after expressing surprise that someone I grew up with was now an RN. "I thought going to college was frowned upon?" I said. "Not if you learn a trade to make a living" she corrected. Guess going away to college solely to escape their clutches doesn't qualify. -

Just to see...
by SoJo16 ini walked by the local double hall this afternoon on my way home from work at about 4:30 pm.
you would never know it's a special night.
no cars in the lot, nothing swept, no flowers or decorations...totally dead.

Well, since I received an invite to Memorial in the mail, and thought I'd check out the vibe before the big event. Every other Christian house of worship in town has signage for this weekend welcoming visitors and decorations or flowers out in front. The hall was a stark contrast--I mean stark. It did not make me want to come back after dark. That's what I expected. -

Candace should go on Dr. Phil. That they wouldn't miss.
