  I saw and heard something in a Kingdom hall I thought I would never witness!

  when i was a kid i would hear religious songs on tv and start sining them... not knowing they were church songs... one day i started singing the hallelujah song (not sure the exact name of the song) my father quickly gave me a hard slap on the mouth and said if i ever sang that song again he would take his belt off and beat my butt until it was red!.

  well fast forward 30 years..... the public speaker was missing today and so tv.jw>org to the rescue.... instead they decided to play the new video about the last hundred years since 1914.. instantly the hall was filled with the exact same song i was punished for!

  yes a church song filled the hall for almost 5 minutes as we watch br.

  One day assembly

  at a recent one day assembly i walked away with the thought that the wtbts sure does not like witnesses who have the opportunity to make a good living.

  there were, in one day, three experiences of witnesses who turned down "6 figure salaries" because there would be some traveling involved and some meetings would be missed as well as missing family worship night.

  i thought it strange that the exact phrase was used of "6 figure salary".

  That's the thing that really pisses us off. The GB, circuit overseers, need greaters, bethelites and some of the Elders will condemn you for going to College or sending your kids to college but they don't have any problem borrowing/taking money from you. In fact they will gladly take it, all the while talking behind your back that you went to college. How can they take/borrow all that filthy "college money"? HYPOCRITES!!!!

  i'm new to this forum.. i was raised in " the truth" from age six and now i am in my mid 60's.

  my wife was born in " the truth" and is very strong in the religion.

  i have had many experiences during my lifetime with the other members of several congregations.

  i've been looking on this site for some time but never posted.

  i'll give a little about myself, but not too much.

  i'm a ex-bethelite ( brooklyn )and currently serving as an elder (10 years) (thinking about stepping down) on the service committee.

  It's all a social club! It has become a competitive game! Back in the 80's people seemed to really care about others. There were "genuine" pioneers, that really wanted to be there. No bragging, they just did it. That no longer exists. It's all about what others SEE, nothing else.

  Even some of the most uber JW's are putting their kids in college. They don't want there kids making the same mistakes they did.

  No...people are not buying it anymore but they don't want to loose the only social status they have. They don't want to loose their families either. So sad. They just stay on the hamster wheel.

  DC2015 New Release: Brochure "Return to Jehovah" for those who faded/left

  it appears that a new 16-page brochure, with the title "return to jehovah" is to be released at the regional convention (dc) this year.

  it would be written specifically for those faded or da/df.chapters are:a letter from the governing body1.

  the lost one i will search for2.

  We should be happified that this brochure is coming out. It means A LOT of people are leaving and they know it. With the people exiting so goes the money too! Follow the money trail!

  Why attack?

  as someone brought up as a jw and been an elder and been disfellowshipped (twice!!!

  ) i find it difficult to understand why ex jws have to attack the religion, yes religion, not cult or sect.

  i am no longer disfellowshipped just do not want to practice anymore.

  Welcome!

  There are so many on the board who have had so many different experiences. So many bad experiences and it has had an incredible impact on their lives (and their families). So many wounds that may never heal. When you stand by and watch someone else struggle with their issues they are dealing with it is easy to judge. When some of those same issues hit you, it can change your perspective 100%. I never judge...you never know the journey someone else has had to endure.

  i had a photo copy of the magazine "the generation that will never die!

  " sitting in my office, he saw it and being the voracious reader he is, he asked me "why did the magazine say all those people would never die?

  " i told him "humans make mistakes, they were wrong by claiming that.

  For the older ones on here. Do you remember the Etch A Sketch? The org should start printing on that. When they want to make a change they just shake the Etch A Sketch and re write. There will be a lot of shaking going on! lol
