JW "charity" during wildfire crisis
by RedPillPopper inso i live in the area of the 'valley' wildfire in northern california.
i just returned home after 3 days evacuated.
there is a family who run a fitness center and had opened their doors in disaster relief to affected people with beds, food, clothing and shelter.

This lack of concern for others (even other JW's) was the straw that broke the camels back for me. When our family had a challenging financial speed bump in our lives NO ONE was there for us. Not even a kind word or acknowledgement! I always had the preconceived idea that our "loving Brothers and Sisters" would be there for us when we needed them. Hog Wash!!! -

I agree but they just can't give it up. They don't know where else to go. It scares them to leave their comfort zone. It is also there only source of "friends."

counting time
by Sabin inyesterday jw knocked on my door, i was sitting in the office with the window right next to it, they couldn't see me & i decided not to answer.
they stood there for what seemed ages & as i watched something hit me.
they were here only because they were on the territory.

Time equals a task that can be measured. You can be the biggest douche in the congregation but as long as you get your time in, all is well. How else are they going to measure you? -

"he claims that he does not expect that the big A will happen in his lifetime."
We heard the exact same statement made by a relative. So much for having faith!

Today I got a review that left me scratching my head - what do you make of it?
by Brock Talon inas a published author on amazon, i'm used to getting negative reviews from time to time.
it goes with the territory and i'm ok with it.
writing is an art form, so no art is liked by everyone.

My relative has studied for years with no commitment. It is an easy way for a full time pioneer to put their time in. My relative thinks this study conductor is their friend. I just want to tell my relative..."tell your study buddy that you no longer want to study and see how long they want to be your friend." So frustrating! Sad too!
I wouldn't take the the review too personally. I think the person writing it has not yet experienced the "ah ha" moment. Once they have personally experienced the knife in the back or the doctrine that just doesn't seem right, they will come to the realization that the emperor has no clothes. Sometimes people don't get it until it happens to them personally. We all get it here on this forum, we personally FELT it.

She stated that she has been studying for 5 years. This is a long time to study IMHO. She is probably receiving a lot of love bombing. She has not been in this cult long enough to get a stab in the back. They are still "encouraging" her along. I have a relative that is in a similar situation. She has been abused all her life. Her study conductor is love bombing her so she thinks she is the cats meow. She can do NO wrong. I kind of equate it to a stray dog that has been neglected all of it's life. When someone picks the dog up and cares for it, the dog is eternally grateful for any love it gets. -

Are the J.W's reaching a "Tipping point"?
by karter ini haven't been to a meeting in 15 years but my mother and sister are hard as j.w's.
the brothers they are appointing elders are at best suspect like one guy from my old hall made elder, big time drug used before becoming a j.w his talks are all over the place and would have struggled to make m,s years ago but with at least 60 to 70 % of young ones leaving the pool to pick from is at best reduced.. 2 other recent elders both young and zero life experience both on benefits one not well at all falls asleep all the time.. the decent, kind elders mostly older and are decent people with alot of life experience are burning out fast as there are so few of them left like 3 per congro of 100 publishers.. then you have the rich elders who wouldn't ever think of inviting some poor older or mis-fit person out to the expensive placers they go to as they couldn't afford to go so they are above the r&f and the r&f get pissed off with them.
then we have the ones who have "put the kingdom 1st" who are now old worn out and barely getting by from welfare cheque to welfare cheque that are saying "the system should have been over many years ago" it's still here and they are struggling everyday.. then there are the pioneers who have a low payed reduced hour job that seem to think anyone who has anything is totally materialistic and looks down on anyone getting a new car buying a house ect.. along with the child abuse issues, the generation change, access to information the the g.b don't want anyone to know ,not to mention the issues around blood.. is there a tipping point coming????

Yes, they are at a tipping point. When there are more jerks in charge than there are good men, it will take a toll. Look at all of the new posters on here. By their actions and lack of love (GB included) they are running more people out than are coming in. I hope it is at a tipping point. They have done it to themselves! -

If they go bankrupt, so what?
by maksutov init seems likely that the watchtower is worried about its finances, given the downsizing, property schemes, and money-grabs we have been seeing over the last few years.
perhaps they suffered badly from the financial crisis.
for sure, there will be more expenses to come from child abuse payouts.

The JW cult is going no where. It will remain, more than likely, smaller in size. I agree with what someone else posted earlier, their doctrines will be exposed more on the internet and you will see no growth. Any hope of survival will on the backs of the born ins but I am sure some will decide to jump ship there too.
As frustrating as this is, I always remind myself that they will NEVER receive another cent or 1 second of my time ever again.

It's her sick way of punishing you. I agree...I hate this cult too. It TRULY destroys families!
