Is zeal beginning to vanish?

it has to be starting to fade somehow.

the very last time i went out in field service, hardly any were out.

maybe just about nine people were out and man if you could just see their faces.

You are right, no one really cares. It's a social club. There are certain groups that hang out together. If you have something to give to others, you're all good. Throw a gathering, with ones who love to drink and eat and you're a shoe in with most in the hall. Then there are a few that get jealous and have to open there big mouths and ruin it for everyone. We had that happen to us and eventually had enough of throwing gatherings. We had enough of everything JW and chose a better and happier life for our family. Cheers!

Pictures in the Watchtower

after sitting through last sunday's watchtower i got so sick of seeing the bobbing/nodding heads when talking about the pictures.

they act like god himself took the picture.

there must have been 10 comments about the group in service and the one brother was looking at his phone with a smile, which is a dead give away that he was reading something interesting.. what got me was how the older brother in the posed picture had a bible in his hand had a stern look on his face looking at the young brother.

We had a sister (busy body/judgmental type), comment on the photo in the WT. She said the sister in the photo had her mid drift showing. If you looked closely at the photo, it was a belt and not her mid drift. You all know the type I am referring to. Loves to love what is "evil." I am proud to say that I set her straight more than once. Had a blast doing it! I sure do miss her....NOT!

Peer presure to use Ipad

earlier this season i advised my retired father to ignore the use of a tablet during his kingdom hall congregational visits.

his response was hopefull, but between the lines i could hear he had no choice.. yesterday he showed me his new 600 euro 64 gb ipad air 2. he had no clue what he has to do with it, he told me one of the elders will install the jw.org apps.. so, i feel he had to deal with presure to buy this ipad and i think he is not the only one.. do you recognize this?.

Yes, the pressure is real. A friend of ours iPad less than 2 years old, stopped working. Took it in for repairs and was told it could not be repaired. So, they had to spend $500 on a new iPad. The meeting night arrived, however they did not have all their books and the wt app installed yet. So, they stayed home instead of going to the meeting. They did not want to go unprepared.

Thanks for posting. Hopefully this will have some Elders thinking? They just spent money 2 - 3 years ago on projection TV's. Now, they have been given "new light" and need 2 new TVs on each side of the stage? Why didn't Jehovah direct them to buy the correct TV's in the first place? Sounds like Jah and the GB are out of sync!

My dilemma

i have a bit of a dilemma that i would welcome advice on from the forum.. a brother in my congregation is giving evidence of having woken up - his comments and talks are usually slanted towards topics discussed here.

he is a former elder and is part of a group of other former elders and ministerial servants who i regularly overhear using terms i would expect to hear from ones knowing ttat.

he is a quite an effective teacher and will probably influence some.. however, in the past he has caused lots of problems for myself and others who i like (including another poster to this site who i have identified) and continues to be someone who i dislike intensely on a personal level.. his comments have been noticed by the body of elders and he is being watched.

Go with your gut instinct. If you never liked him, you probably never will. Like someone said above..."karma is a bitch." Let it go and enjoy your life!

They DON'T care! When we were going through a rough patch financially, they still came to us to take the speaker and his family out to dinner. They just don't get it. The Elders don't understand until they themselves have to go through it. This was our final straw! Hopefully, others are starting to see it also.
