Boy...that's a loaded question.
Some I do detest, some are really great people. Deluded (like we used to be) but still nice, well meaning people, that have not looked behind the curtain yet. Looking behind the curtain changes EVERYTHING!

this article is sad.
but what amazes me is her jw family is accepting donations or has to resort to the very worldly people they look forward to being destroyed.
That is very sad. This poor family is dealing with so much.
Why can't the JW organization help them? The organization only helps itself. The donations only go one way...in their pocket. They are shameless and selfish. They are building a new up state NY retirement resort, they need the funds for that. Remember what our golden boy Lett stated in his JW broadcast, "we have more money going out , than we have coming in." Who did not count the cost?
well, well, that was quite a heartfelt welcome on this site four days ago.
thank you all for the encouraging replies.
one of them was this one from magnum: "hey now, don't just pop your head in and disappear.
"I do have one nagging question though: If the GB is ONLY about getting people´s money and wanting to get more into the JW "cult" by evangelizing more and more just for the purpose of getting more donations, then why aren´t they living a luxurious life-style?"
I find this question from pile2222 interesting. Imagine you are a GB member. Let me list some of the perks that WT pays to these golden ones.
1. No mortgage/rent payments.
2. No health insurance premiums. They don't have to worry about the rising cost of healthcare.
3. No car insurance premiums. Cars are also readily available (probably a driver as well).
4. No car payments.
5. No Grocery bills. Food provided.
6. No utility bills
7. Travel expenses paid for by WT.
8. No $ for haircuts (on site barber)
9. No $ for dental cleanings (on site dentist).
10. No $ for Doctor visits. (on site doctor).
Ok. So my question is what do they have to worry about financially? I go through the list and these are the things the average person/family has to worry about. They are not living a luxurious life-style? Boy, what I wouldn't do to NOT worry about the things I have listed above. Is there anything else THEY (the GB) have to come out of pocket for? I failed to also list above the green handshakes and wining and dining they receive when they travel. They also receive gifts, such as jewelry and vacation homes to stay in. There are a lot of wealthy Brothers and Sisters out there that love to brown nose these golden boys. Have you ever seen one when they travel? They have body guards and a line of people waiting to shake their golden hand.
It's an all expense paid life. Would I consider the above a luxurious life-style? Hell yeah!
i can't see another thread but maybe i missed it:.

so it's official, i am happy to report that we merged with another congregation having the same problem.
why is it good news???
because people are either waking up, fading or just not buying into this organization any longer or walking away.... i think many young ones are just not buying into it as much, i see many in the congregation i go to very depressed and some i know personally going thru major depression especially the young "sisters" in their early 20s.... .
i'm watching the jw movie the prodigal son returns.. it is a masterpiece of indoctination and what i would call a "cult" classic.. it's about two brothers who work for their father's construction firm.
the older one is the most spiritual and the younger one isn't.
he befriends al, a weak brother, who persuades him to take a job in the city and move there.. it shows the "world" in the worst possible light.
last night, during our "christian life and ministry" meeting, we had a session on local needs.
elder opened the talk with a disclaimer saying that this was a reminder (cited psalms about how david loved jehovahs reminders).
he reminded us of how bless we are of having our own local assembly hall.

we were right down with the very lowest.. father never a jw we had a po with little mans syndrome and love to pick on sisters that had no husband to stand up for them,he picked on my mother only to find out he picked on the wrong person, she came from a hard up bringing and didn't take any s###t from anyone particularly this little bully and we were very poor...how low can you get!.
karter..
My spouse never reached out for any position and I never pioneered so we were pretty much the sludge at the bottom of the pond. BUT we thought (key work here is thought) we were in Jehovahs organization, right? WRONG! It's all about WHO you are and if you do all the tasks than they can label you a "spiritual person."
This cult is nothing more than a corporation and social club. We choose to no longer participate and have NEVER been happier!
