Sad for the children involved. So much for the "holy spirit" choosing and guiding these men.

Why isn't the Boston Globe doing a better job?
by Londo111 inhttps://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/regionals/north/2016/06/29/who-are-jehovah-witnesses-who-live-among/z39a6dvdcp5lvufo7y7ozo/story.html.
why isn't the boston globe doing a better job covering this group?.
after all, the movie spotlight won an oscar about this paper and their groundbreaking journalism into the catholic church covering child abuse.

A piece of journalism that DOES NOT cover the entire topic. It happens a lot in journalism. Like someone said, nothing about blood and shunning. I guess it depends on who the journalist interviews. We all could tell them a thing or two.

Expanding number of DC/RC's
by DwainBowman inaccording to my elder in law, by next year the number of dc/rc's will increase by 143. the size of conventions will get smaller.
the elder in law says the goal is to make them all have around 2,000 or so at each.
they are going to make more manuals detailing each job and it's responsibilities.

The entire org (cult ) is being restructured.
We think they will eventually have the RC's at local assembly halls. No longer using the big venues. It's all a shell game. Keep moving the shells, so no one notices the changes (decrease in #'s).

To highlight how unfair shunning is
by joe134cd ini'm going to relate a jw family that i know of that highlight how disproportionate disfellowshipping is.
both dad (elder) and mum are die hard jw.
the son was always a nasty boy and when he got into drugs it just intensified his personality 10 fold.

That is why I am so grateful each day that our children never got baptized. It is the worst form of bullying and emotional blackmail. We have seen similar examples. WT has a lot of blood on their hands.

To UK members that go to meetings - did Brexit cause a spike in meeting attendance last weekend?
by freddo ini went to the mid week meeting and looked at the attendance figures on the noticeboard for the three congregations that share the local kingdom hall.
i wrote down the three previous sundays attendances and this sunday (after the referendum) too.
cong c. (95 pubs) 74/82/73/90.

Freddo - Great observation. What will be interesting is how long will the numbers stay inflated. I remember a few meetings after 911, attendance was up by 20% or more. After a few weeks it went back to normal.
Obviously these weak ones are of the Kevinly class!

Is it persecution or just a poor decision?
by ctrwtf injust been thinking about the "persecution" video where the modern day "job" loses everything.
here's an alternative narrative.. instead of turning down the salary job in the next town over, our hero takes the job even though it's a tough commute.
he is still able to contribute in a meaningful way to his "ministry.

"Education, a good job, and good health are a sign of "giving in" to Satan's wicked world. "
Says the GB. The ones who have (free of charge) housing, insurance, doctors/nurses at their beck and call, insurance (car and health), 3 square meals a day (including clean up and preparation of food), maid service to clean up your lake front condo, laundry service, hair cuts, dental work and transportation (driver included and plane trips). Oh and let's not forget all the JW's who wine and dine them (looks lie they are all enjoying that perk too much). How many wealthy JW's contribute a lovely vacation home for the wonderful 7? I could go on and on. These 7 men do not have a clue what it is like to live in the real world. If they had to live a "normal life", they would hang themselves. They speak of things that they know NOTHING about.

How do you deal with depression?
by BlackWolf ini'm currently going through a bout of depression and my eating disorder has gotten worse.
ever since my parents actually told me that they are going to kick me out when i turn 18 i've felt kind of hopeless about my life.
my parents won't take me to the doctor because the psychiatrists won't have my "best interests" aka jw crap in mind, because really that's the root of all my problems.. i'm wondering if any of you guys have any advice with dealing with depression?

Keep busy. If you can, throw yourself into getting a good education. This will allow you to get a good job/career so that one day you can take care of yourself without your parents. We have a teenager that we are encouraging to receive a good education. Dad and I may not always be around to help out. It seems you can not rely on anyone else but yourself now days.
It is sad that parents can actually threaten their own child. I wouldn't treat a dog that way, much less my own child.
Sorry that you are struggling.
