A Brother refusing to pray?
by HereIgo ini remember there was a brother in my congregation while i was in who would comment at all meetings but if asked to pray at a meeting or meeting for service he would always politely refuse.
i always found it odd, i assumed as a young bro, that a bro was kind of obligated to pray if asked.
knowing what i know now, it could have been a guilty conscience or maybe he just wanted to be lowkey.

Do you still go to meetings?
by NikL inas i was sitting in the meeting last night i thought about this question.. sometimes it feels really lonely because i don't connect with most others in the congregation and i have to be so careful with the ones with whom i do associate.. quick rundown on my life...got baptized at 17...married at 20...became inactive at 28 wife still active though...came back to meetings with her 20 years later just to keep her quiet and see if they had changed (for a while i actually thought they had)...now i am still inactive and haven't gone out in service or anything.
i just go to meetings with my wife who is happy as a lark to have me there with her...just go to meetings and think...and think...and think.... anyway, i just wondered if there are any out there like me who are going to meetings and nothing else?.

Have not been in over 3 years. We figured out that the JW's really don't care about you. They may be pleasant to you and associate with you UNTIL you no longer attend. That is not friendship.
As for family (in our case)...we are not quite "spiritual" enough to be in their presence.
I will never enter a Kingdom Hall again. NEVER!

Why Did JWs Abandon Brooklyn for the Sticks?
by Room 215 ini may have missed this, but can anyone tell me what was the pretext the gb concocted to justify their abandonment of a perfectly suitable, high-profile, high-visibility complex in what is arguably the world's greatest metropolis for the bucolic isolation of upstate new york.
any how does the move square with their purported belief in the imminence of armageddon?

Follow the money. They are also expecting a fall out for all of the bad press regarding child molestation and the shunning . Leah Remini is exposing Scientology. There are ones exposing WT for who they are.

Australian Royal Commission mentions that G. Jackson was inconsistent
by Daniel1555 init's great that the following is officially mentioned in the royal commission's report:.
when asked if the governing body members saw themselves as ‘jehovah god’s spokespeople on earth’, mr geoffrey jackson answered that it ‘would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that god is using’.
mr jackson’s response seems to be inconsistent with the documentary evidence before the royal commission, which shows that jehovah’s witnesses believe that the governing body is the ‘channel’ by which jehovah’s ‘will’ is communicated to them..

Yes...WT has set this entire thing up so they can pull out the persecution card. The Rank and file will bobble their heads up and down, lap it up and say..."proper food at the proper time." I truly believe these people would drink the kool aid and ask for a refill. Unbelievable!

Quite Possibly The Most Sinister Speaker Ever?
by pale.emperor inhi guys.. "brother" jose is quite possibly the most sinister speaker i've ever seen or heard.
and i've seen/head a lot of cults in my time.. he's over the top with his voice tone and gestures.
i see a future governing body member in the making here:.

He is creepy beyond belief! The JW's will be in awe of him. The more outrageous, the more they will follow along.

That One Defining Moment That Changed Your Life.
by new boy init seems that many times in life there is a moment or an action that changes your whole world.
it could be just a look that someone gives you.. many times it can be something rather small.
something hardly noticeable by anyone but you.

Watching a Circuit Overseer act like a narcissistic fool on the stage. i was having my doubts but that one finished me off. That was it for me. I finally pulled the curtain back and saw that the great and powerfull oz was just a little old man.
If I bumped into that CO today, I would thank him.

Sanctimonious, "WE'RE Thankful EVERY day."
by stillin inthanksgiving is really just a nice, traditional, family-oriented day set aside on a national level.
no babylon the great.
give me a break with the holier than thou, "we don't celebrate thanksgiving.

You know it's time to give up the JW religion when your route call tells you to
by jambon1 inlasting memory of the latter period of time in the organisation:.
i had a route call with the magazines whom i'd called on for a number of years.
eventually when i become a parent i became consumed with negativity, doubt (blood issue) & depression.

Notsurewheretogo said it perfectly . You can never do enough or be good enough . I told this to an elder before we left. The tasks you do measures the spirituality JW's judge you on. You could be the biggest ass but as long as the JW's see what you are doing spiritually (aka tasks). Perseption is everything in JWland. Man I DO NOT MISS THAT!
