Are There Many JWs That Have Actually Left?
by minimus init seems that most people who have been witnesses that i've known in the last 20 years are still jws.
they may not be as zealous as before but they still remain as jehovah's witnesses.

Yes, most of our JW family and past friends are still in. What we do see more and more of are the older ones we knew are beginning to die. The future problem for WT, we do not see one for one replacements for the ones who have passed. We also noticed entire families are no longer all in. Many families we know have at least 1 or 2 family members that no longer go.

Have you been featured in a Watchtower publication or on jw.org?
by George One Time inmaybe you were considered a good example or a picture was needed.. can you give some background of the procedure?
how about the vetting?
if you cannot give away your identity, that is fine.

No...we were NEVER considered "exemplary." Our Daddies did not have a lot of money or wine and dine the GB members. My spouse and I were considered weak (aka losers). Thank God...it is why we are where we are today....FREE!

What is the basis for advising “Don’t pursue higher studies”?
by venus intwo elders who visited my friend last week encouraged her not to pursue higher studies.
it seems they are dishing out the same old stuff: “the end is imminent, and this is the time to do more in the service; hence don’t waste your resources on higher studies.”.
i wonder whether there was some official communiqué (something that is sent out recently like letter to the elders, or kingdom ministry article …).

One thing to remember....there are A LOT of Elders who are not being obedient to WT when it comes to sending their kids to college. The rank and file typically look to the Elders and they have the mind set, "if the Elders are doing it, it must be ok." It makes WT look bad and we know WT and JW's have to "look" good. lol
The kids who went off to college are moving forward with their lives. They are getting married, purchasing homes, having kids and making it financially. The kids who did not go to college are possibly getting married, living in the parents basement and struggling financially. This now pits the two groups of kids against one another. Little Johnny is an Elder and has a nice home, wife, kids and does not struggle financially when Little Jimmy (an Elder also) over here pursued "kingdumb interests." He and his wife are struggling financially, living with Mom and Dad. Both men are Elders. You don't think there is resentment on the part of Little Jimmy. He was a good little JW and did not go off to college but damn, Johnny and his wife just bought a nice new home and BMW. Little Jimmy then feels a little more superior than Johnny, when WT puts him on the assembly program, telling all the young ones how he sacrificed for Jah and how happy he and his wife are. Really Jimmy, you are happy? We have actually witnessed this scenario above. It is pretty amusing to watch.

Schooling make you learn, learning makes you think. WT doesn't want those who think. WT does the thinking for its members. Follow the $$$$$$!!!!

JWs Like to Take Away Hope...
by JW_Rogue ini think the worst thing about jws is that they like to take away peoples realistic hopes for a happy life now and replace it with false hope for the future.
tell a jw you want to go college and get a good career and they'll tell you that college is a waste of time, that you'll end up in debt or that the economy is so bad there are no jobs.
tell a jw about how scientists have discovered a new technology that could improve millions of lives and they'll tell you that scientists and technology have "ruined the earth" and cannot be trusted.

It is what JW's do best. Well....next to judging and gossip.

Yes...we are watching family members waiting on their happiness to begin. The sad thing about it, is they are all old, depressed and broke.

How did you feel when you got baptized?
by Schnufti inback in 2005, i remember sitting in the stadium in the special rows with 42 others.
8000 people were looking at us - maybe even with a binocular - while listening to the speech.
my family and my friends among them, being all proud of me.. i don't remember being enthusiastic.

"when i was about to get baptized i was told that right afterwards you feel different."
Didn't feel it. I describe it as static on a tv set. Nothing!

Last Sunday's WT Study re Anxiety
by Nicholaus Kopernicus inthis article could be seen as a nice read compared with the banality and repetitiveness of many articles in recent years.
however, several areas in the article still troubled me.
paragraph one externalises the cause of an individual’s anxiety to satan the devil.

Elders solution to any problem, more meetings, more service, more studying, more praying, etc. That's what's going to do it eh?

I agree with Steve. These ones could never survive on their own and stand on their own two feet. They can't leave the protective JW bubble. Sad and pitiful!
