I was counseled by a Brother after giving a talk, that I was teaching from the platform (obviously, I am a female). My one of many WTF moments!

Singing todays WT
by road to nowhere inthe jist was that we all should sing.
then the first 6 or 8 paragraphs describe how early bible accounts have trained and set aside musicians to do the singing while everyone else listened.. the songs they have put out have no soul, rhythm, or soothing melodies as a whole.
the old hymns are some real music, even if you don't agree with the "teachings".. there is no admission of poetry using archaic language at times for affect or to add to the rhyme, they have to have everything agree with the grey bible.. anyone speak foreign languages?

Local elder dies of starvation
by Steel inwell , not really.. our hall recently had a secret collection for our head elder who is almost on the verge of becoming homeless.
i guess he lost some cleaning contracts because his clients were just sick of his no shows because of his pioneer work.
there is always something more important to do than earn a living.. this is the same assholes he is always shaming people to not doing enough.

The complete lack of love was exactly what woke my spouse and I up. During a difficult financial time, we were not asking for any financial support, just some emotional support. With the exception of one Elder in the KH, we got NOTHING. Not even a word of encouragement. I thank the JW's and WT for that. Once we exited the cult, we learned TTATT. We now know so much more about this "religion" than when we were in. THANK YOU WATCHTOWER AND THE LOCAL JW'S FOR SHOWING US YOUR TRUE COLORS!!!

Don't you think that some people are just better off within the org?
by paradiseseeker inthis is my first post, i will introduce myself later.
first of all, i must say that english is not my mother tongue (i'm spanish), so excuse me if i make any mistake.. do you think that some people simply can't cope with being outside the jws?
some of them are too worldlyphobic to be around non-jws, too dependent on a fixed set of rules in order to carry on with their lives, too dependent on the hope of paradise and resurrection, too unable to leave their personal comfort zone within the organization.

Good grief....they are even micro managing your singing. They treat the rank and file like they are 5 years old.

aspects of shunning
by stan livedeath inmany members on here have been shunned.
we know whats its like--and the effect it has had on our lives.
but what about those of us who practiced shunning before--when we were members of the watchtower cult ?.

I always felt bad for them. I always smiled or put my hand on their shoulder and patted it. I even spoke to one DF'd cong. member when he had a death in his family. I didn't care if anyone was offended by it. I am typically known for not cooperating. lol I don't march to things I don't feel are right. Maybe that is why I was not your typical JW.

Talking Janet Jackson and Religious Freedom with the Wife
by OnTheWayOut inmy recent sidewalk discussion with a couple of jw's has gotten me in the mood to say more when appropriate.so the wife and i were riding in the car and cat stevens comes on.
i mentioned to her that cat stevens left music when he was still popular and converted to islam back in the 1970's- how he was told that his music would have to be morally acceptable and he found it easier to just abandon making new music for at least 20 years.
so i didn't really remember all the details and i figured the conversation would die.

Excellent. You handled that beautifully. She may not say anything to you but she IS thinking about what you said.

Birthdays are Evil - so they said
by EverApostate inlast week i celebrated my birthday.
accepted well wishes from people near and far.
had been happily accepting wishes from people since i quit the cult.. as a jw, (brainwashed ) belief that birthdays are evil was the stupidest belief i had in all my life.. when in, i had a hard time to explain to people that i don’t celebrate birthdays.

The same way you do. It was the hardest and most ridiculous thing to have to explain to non JW's. No wonder every non JW thinks the witnesses are looney.
