International convention in Poland

get ready for the big time!

my wife has already been to several special training sessions this year in preparation for the big event.

several saturday sessions at the assembly hall in warsaw.

Yes, we are located in a international city of choice. They had brothers and sisters lined up as tour guides, they had entertainment nights set aside, JW's located at the local attractions to make the delegates feel special. People were making trinkets for the delegates. It was a huge deal! Back in 2014, during the International assembly, they had a whole band and dancing at the local assembly hall. It was set up in the parking lot. There are Youtube videos posted.

Back in the day, my spouse and I took a lot of heat for playing a "worldly song" at our wedding. Our wedding was not in the KH. The scripture in 1 Corinthians 14: 40 was harped on. "But let all things take place decently and by arrangement." I am all for having a good time and I think it's a great idea to let the Brothers and sisters "let their hair down" but what happened? What changed? What was once frowned upon is now okay. It just goes to show you, if the 8 goons in NY sanction it, it's now okay to do.

Now...if I let a family member die because of the lack of a blood transfusion and the 8 goons decide to change that disgusting doctrine, how do I deal with that one? I guess then, "I could look forward to the resurrection." They have a damn answer for everything.

You just can't make this stuff up!!!

i just wanted to get some feedback.

i don't want to go into the whole story, it's too long and it's been told by a lot of people here.

anyway, i think i am disfellowshipped or about to be.

Everybody has to do what is right for THEM. My self personally, if someone does not want me in their life, so be it. I'm out! Shunning is a bullying tactic promoted by the hateful 8. I'm not easily bullied. If someone does not respond to my communication to them, I take it as they don't want to hear from me. Just my 2 cents.

Do You Have A Negative Outlook Because You Were Once A JW?

it could be argued that exjws have issues in life simply because they were jehovah’s witnesses at a point in their lives.

do you think you or we are fairly normal considering we were jehovah’s witnesses or do you think we have a lot of baggage because we are a bit messed up ( even if we don’t even know it)?.

I don't think I have a negative outlook but I am a bit less trusting. I always had the nagging feeling, throughout my life, that something just wasn't right with WT and it's followers. Now, when I get that nagging feeling, I look into why I feel the way I do.

The Unbelievable Just Happened!

something uneblievable just happened.. i am pomo for a while not too long though.

while we were away (i and my best friend for the weekend), i received several texts from my 2 friends, from my ex-cong ,who are pimi(but starting to have doubts) who have been asking me questions about the jdubs.the texts seemed quite urgent n serious, so got the lowdown .at the weekend meeting , 3 families walked out!.

"Love Never Fails" ... Really ?

" love never fails " is the main assembly headline for this years district assemblies for the jws and what a contrived lark that is .

the jws leaders have created doctrines to which the organization's followers obeyed accordingly which have killed thousands , destroyed families and indirectly caused numerous suicides.

these men have instituted such doctrines such as refusing blood transfusions, vaccinations and organ transplants at one time, they still uphold the no blood transfusion doctrine though.

WT is getting quite the reputation with the "worldlies" and those who have decided the cult is not for them. When you Google JW's, nothing positive comes up. All you see is CSA cases, shunning, no blood transfusion deaths and wacko beliefs. The EX JW community is really hammering WT! WT had to name the assembly "Love Never Fails" due to their crappy reputation.

30 years after leaving utterly unrecognisable

this is the first time i have posted on here in many years..... i seldom visit now although this forum was instrumental to me in gaining my sanity in the early 2000's and recovering from the watchtower religion.. by chance tonight i was on youtube and caught a jw.org video which out of curiosity prompted me to look at the official website and amongst other things i looked up the music section.. why that i hear you ask?

music is my passion and nothing reminds me more or evokes more memories than the kingdom songs i grew up listening to.. i am 49 years old and my mother was baptised in 1974. i grew up in the era of pink songbooks and green bibles.

It's funny how just entering a KH makes you want to slam a couple back. lol

When I was still in, it was a habit to hit the liquor store after a meeting or assembly. Now...six years later, I only drink when I want to enjoy a glass of wine or mixed drink. I enjoy a glass now, not the entire bottle. lol

That ole, "something is just not right" feeling I used to have. Now, I know what's wrong, IT'S A CULT!!!

my never a jw dad tol me that my kid brother (32) is an elder.

it bothered me, i genuinely thought he was just going through the motions for the sake of his wife and our mum.. interestingly, dad was annoyed that he doesn't see so much of my brother lately and that my mum (uber jw) always makes excuses for him.. what a surprise.

It's interesting when these "men" become Elders. Some get a superiority complex. The Elder Body keeps the younger ones busy with the "rookie work." It's all of the crap the older ones don't want to do. We've seen this before. The rookie has to prove himself.

I watched my Brother become an elder early on. He became too good for the family and too busy taking care of the congregation. It's sad but it happens.

I'm sorry that you are going through this.

You sister is an as*hole! You should be happy that she is out of your life. I'm just sorry for what this is doing to you and your Dad and Mom. NO ONE should get involved with a medical decision like this. I'm with Sigfrid above, is there a HIPPA violation here?
