That is sad that so many of us had to give up things we may have been good at. Broken dreams and broken promises.
You are doing a great job. Direct the kids in what they love to do. We always tell our children, "we weren't allowed to pursue this or that because the end was so close. You both have the opportunity to do what we couldn't." They are doing great!
Kids are resilient! I tell my spouse all the time, "if we can just keep them away from the JW mentality, they will be fine. lol They are fine and your children will be fine too. Love them, guide them, listen to them and give them room to thrive. You sound like a terrific parent! Rock on Hadriel!

We also left when our kids were teens. I don't think they really felt like a part of the congregation. You see, my husband was not an MS or elder. Like you, he never had the urge to reach out. I wonder why! (sarcasm) This has a large impact on how kids are treated in the congregation. No uber Daddy, no invites!
Our kids are fine. We talk to them about things . We are very open and honest with both of them. Kids are not stupid, they know more than we think. We never encouraged them to get baptized. I wonder why! (sarcasm again).
Be honest and candid with your kids. They can see the cracks, just as well as we can. Our children have found more genuine, caring and kind friends in the "world." I truly believe if our home was destroyed this evening our friends and neighbors would drop everything to help. People are typically kinds by nature. We've just been brainwashed all of our lives that every non JW is sporting a pitch fork and horns. NOT TRUE!

Have you Read Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz? I have been reading it and it is a real eye opener! My spouse read it when we began our fade. It was jaw dropping for him!
don't get me wrong...........there was no one more self righteous, than me at 19. i moved to kansas at 18 to pioneer and even printed up cards that said............ .
"have sword, will travel"---------contact casarona salina kansas------ aaa which of course meant available after armageddon..
oh, i was full of myself!
Keep writing. Good stuff!
You're right...a good ole boys club!

Welcome Hadriel
Take it slow. Don't react too quick. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to exit this religion. We go back and forth on just pulling the band aid off and telling our family (they all live in different cities, so it makes it a little easier). We have not done that yet but we think our families are suspicious. You are correct, sometime it does feel like wearing wet clothes. Good description.
Angus Stewart said it correctly during the Australian Royal commission, "the WT is a captive organization." It uses all your friends and family to keep you captive to them. I think there are a lot of people starting to wake up. The dominos could be beginning to fall. Next years Yearbook #'s will be interesting.
Keep us posted on your progress. We have all been and some are still exactly where you are at. It's disheartening to find out that everything you ever believed in was a lie.
back to the food..........the saying there was "its the best food in the world before they cook it" the coffee was the really bad.
they would take a 55 lb.
bag of good coffee beans and boil the shit out of it.the joke was if anyone could find the guy that made the coffee, and kill him, our production would go up and armageddon could finally come.
new boy....looking forward to Part 3. My spouse and I are enjoying your Bethel experiences.
What sums it up for us (fading...haven't been to a meeting, etc. for almost 3 years) is what the guy leaving after 4 years said to you. "They don't give a shit about you here"........" That is exactly why we left 3 years ago. This is the exact statement I made to my spouse. We are 100%++++++ happier out then we were in.
How you put up with that old Bat, I don't know. I would have lasted 5 seconds at Bethel. I would have but the chicken backs where the sun don't shine.
it was about 15 years ago.......... i was at a one day special event in woodburn or.
i was talking to lyman swingle about how the society could save some money.
it was a crazy idea ( to crazy to relate here)...............anyway he laughed and said to me.. "brother..........we have always had the money to do the things we needed to do.......and if we didn't.......we felt it was god's holy spirit telling us, it wasn't what we should be doing".......so...i said "so the money is like a barometer, no approval, no money"......he said "yea..... i guess you could say that!

i have a question for elders here or recent elders.
were the elders, in the last 10 years, given instruction to keep a copy of every publishers blood card on file at the kh?.
we moved to our current cong 6 years ago, and shortly after we moved in, the boe requested everyone update and give a copy of card to the kh.
Our Elders were too lazy to make copies of the blood cards and keep them on file.
I shredded mine!
