I thought I would bump this thread for any new ones who have not seen it. I showed this to my teen last week. He/she thought it was great! Her emotion was pure! She did a great job. Very brave girl.

Could Joel Osteen Bring the JWs Out of Their Doldrums?
by TMS inrussell had some charisma, as did the alcoholic womanizer, j.f.
rutherford.
n.h. knorr, not so much.

Joel Osteen is a motivational speaker. He tells people what they want to hear. He is a wonderful speaker and knows how to work an audience. He's a charmer. This is what people want to hear. "We love everyone." I don't know the man, he could be the nicest person in the world. Religion is a business and a place to socialize. It is selling salvation and working well for Joel and his counterparts. WT does not know how to run a business like Joel, the rank and file are not being built up but torn down.
I hate religion. I will NEVER be a part of any religion ever again. NEVER. It is a business, nothing else. I , personally choose not to participate. That's just me. Some choose to play the stock market, some don't. That's the beautiful thing about the freedom to choose.Hey...if you can run a business like that, go for it. Who says money can't buy you happiness. lol

spiritual
by stan livedeath ini read the word "spiritual" sometimes on the site.
what exactly do the jw's mean by it ?.
-

Spiritual equals visual tasks a JW performs. Meeting attendance, service, pioneering, Bethel service, need greaters, reaching out, etc. If you are a "spiritual" person you are successfully doing the tasks they put before you.

The Elders want to meet with me and the hubby... Lol lol lol
by Sevan inso the elders called wanting to meet with me and my husband.
most likely because i told a concerned jw friend of mine that i really care about that i wasn't coming back and a couple of the issues i had.
i didn't bring up any so-called "apostate" information, just told her about the australian royal commission and that there are a lot of unscriptural teachings and that the gb apply scriptures that are about jehovah and jesus to themselves, which is idolatry.

Good advice above. These guys (Elders) have NEVER done anything for you. You owe them NOTHING. Don't play their game.

Brother & Sister-in-Law Return to Kingdom Hall After Two Decades, Quickly Get Stumbled
by TMS init was a mild surprise, learning that a brother and sister-in-law had began re-associating with jehovah's witnesses after at least 25 years of being away.
the couple, of hispanic ethnicity, are in their early 60's, with their five children all grown and independent.
the family had been considered nominal jws, infrequently attending meetings, rarely in field service, but using the annual convention as their family vacation.

Reading this really makes me more and more thankful for all of the nice weekends we have spent doing what WE want to do. I remember going in Field Serve us and looking forward to the 2 hours being over with ( I hated service with a passion...like everyone). Then...the conductor said we had the KH cleaning. OH GOD...will the day ever end? lol Oh, how I miss those days....NOT.

If you don't care about being DF'd, let them know how you feel and move on with your life. Everyone's situation is different and you have to do what is right for you and your family.
If you don't want to be DF'd....DO NOT MEET WITH ANY ELDER(S)! You mentioned that they never cared for you but NOW all of a sudden you are on their radar. Why is that? Hmmm. They have some "juicy dirt" on you and they are like vultures circling their prey. They can't wait to pounce. They only have as much control over you as you give them. If you do not want to meet with them, tell them you are doing fine and if you need them, you will contact them. You may have to do this several times. What drives the average JW mad, is if you give them NOTHING. They thrive on gossip and judgement! It is like their life blood. If you want to screw with all of them, give them NOTHING.
Happy Birthday!
Nothing against your "friend" who told the Elders, but she is just a conditional friend. Once you are OUT of the cult she will drop you like a bad habit. They will only love/like/hang out with you if you drink the JW Kool Aid. It is a harsh reality but the truth.
Keep us posted on your progress. Life is short...enjoy each new day! Sounds like you are. Freedom is awesome.

It wouldn't surprise me. If the WT gig doesn't work for him at least he has his family fortune to fall back on. It's usually the douche bags that land on their feet. lol

"That Makes Your Organisation, In Many Respects, A Captive Organisation"
by pale.emperor ina segment from the royal commission in australia where gb member geoffrey jackson is grilled by a, very fantastic, lawyer.
this should be watched by all people contemplating getting baptized as jw's.
once you're in, you cant leave and keep your family.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpir8vjsdre.

Nope! No confidence and NO boldness! Just take a look at the RC video of the JW's cowering in the basement. What ever happened to being bold. Why weren't the JW's out front, standing firm to the authorities?
Angus Stewart hit the nail on the head..."captive organization."

My spouse and I must have been on the OK list. We weren't good enough for anything "spiritual" but we always seemed ok to do the cleaning, haul the trash and take the speaker out to lunch. WT has no problem taking your money or using your free labor.

The UN Files - Print Out And Keep For Your Next JW Visitor
by pale.emperor ini've been researching the wt and the un involvement.
when i was still in and i first seen the un letter online, my cognitive dissonance kicked and i told myself it'll be a fake.
an apostate lie.. and seeing as no jw i've spoken to has ever heard of it, and flatly deny any involvement "no, they wouldn't do that", i decided to do a little "personal study" of my own.

Great post. Thank you. This post should be bumped to the top occasionally. There is Sooooo Much that the average JW does not know about there very own religion. Most of us on here already know about WT's association with the UN. There are lurkers on here. If we could just get one person to see this, it maybe one person we could save from an abusive/lying cult.
So I guess the next time I pass a strip club, I can just go in because I need to use their restroom or they serve the best burger in town. That is a similar excuse WT uses. They joined for the library? Really WT!
