by Nicholaus Kopernicus inin paragraph 2 of this study, the gbojw evidences once again that they are sticking to the absurd 1914 doctrine – “when the last days of the present system began...”.
i noted that as 2014 approached, the gbojw became somewhat reticent about making reference to revelation 12:12 – the “short period of time” scripture.
so this study is the first one in a long time in which both the 1914 doctrine and revelation 12:12 are mentioned in the same study.

"back in the day people didn't know not to abuse kids"- a jw explanation for their abuse scandal
by purrpurr ina few weeks back i showed the guardian article about the borg refusing to cooperate with the charity commission into child abuse to a fellow jw.
their response was quite amazing.
they told me that in the 50s-80s people didn't know about child abuse, didn't know it was wrong and no one really believed children when they claimed they had been abused - even worldly people.. they said that alot of the time children lie about being abused or therapists plant false memories in their heads and that apostates lie about being abused to undermine our faith.. about the borg not cooperating with the commission they said that it was probably because they wanted to protect the identities of jw's who had been abused.

We have seen this before but it was well worth watching again. The hard part is watching the damage done to innocent children and the long term affects of child molestation.
The arrogance of the 2 elders was incredible. Not one word of sympathy for the victims.
We believe there is a sh&t storm coming for WT. I hope we are around to see it.

I have heard and seen so many of these stories about denial with the JW's. I have also seen some complain later on about some unjust outcome of an issue. The change.....it happened to THEM. It's funny how they change their tune when the shoe is on the other foot.

A Hard Lesson Learned

i got reinstated after going there for 9 months.

1 Corinthians 8:9...."But keep watching that your right to choose does not somehow become a stumbling block to those who are weak."
The scripture above that is quoted has nothing to do with beards. If you don't follow the WT rules, you may stumble someone.
There is no scripture that says wearing a beard in wrong or not Christian. This is a JW rule, nothing else. Legalism at it's best. Once again WT makes its own rules.

Now...if this young brother had kept this info to himself and later became an Elder and the matter became an issue later on, there is a "get out of jail free card" that the Elders can use. It basically states that if an Elder has committed a sin in the past, he's ok. It is in the Elders book. My husband knows the page and paragraph (this is one of the many reasons we are OUT). Maybe someone else knows the page and can post it.
See the double standards and hypocrisy in this cult?

We have done similar things with our family. We get the same blank stares and no comments. It is amazing to watch. Now you can see why there are certain personalities that remain in this cult. There are still snake oil salesmen in this world and still those who buy and believe in their products. These ones can not cross over to any reasoning whatsoever. Frustrating but amusing to watch sometimes.

by Sour Grapes ini was an elder in the 1970's and i was not a big fan of the "stay alive until 75" dogma.
i was looked down upon by the heavy hitters on the body of elders and in time i changed my mind.
i knew of the failed prophecy of 1914 being the end of all times which was repeated for the year 1925...yet i came to believe well maybe this time they've got it right.. with every new watchtower, i combed over every word to find support for my change in my belief that the end was coming in fall of 1975. at the district assembly in 1975, everyone clung onto every word in the final talk.

Thank you Sour Grapes for posting that recording. We have several older siblings that also can verify that the 1975 "push" was real. We were small at the time and don't remember. This recording sickens me. I listened to the entire recording on your other post. I copied and pasted my response below.
I am so glad some of the older ones have this proof that these idiots did really make a hype of 1975 .

Around 8 min. he speaks about Babylon the Great falling. Several churches in our area are thriving. They have massive expansions of their church. This talk was given 41 years ago.
WT has taken this talk and made new re make video(s). The Bunker video and the resurrection video. They have taken the exact same message and put it into video(s). He states, "some of us may not see it" (remake video...Kevin) Same ole, same ole...wash, rinse, repeat.
"Exert ourselves vigorously." He speaks of knocking at the door (ironic huh?) and it will not be opened to you. It seems they enjoy the fact that they can close that door on the "unrighteous." The arrogance and the self righteousness is incredible! I can't imagine having the same attitude towards family members and close friends..."oh well...you had your chance, so sorry." He even speaks of Jesus having this exact same attitude.
I'm sorry friends, I will choose to take a permanent "dirt nap" then spending eternity with these nutters. How cold and unbelievably unfeeling these people are. I am embarrassed and ashamed that my parents ever fell for this and dragged their children along with them. What were they thinking?

They have "repackaged" the fear and made an entire convention geared around loyalty to Jehovah.
