We have a family member who wines and dines these people, all expenses paid. You should see the look on his face when they are around. He looks looks like an adolescent boy who has a crush on his teacher. It is so funny to watch. My spouse and I have a good laugh. We don't even treat our "worldly" bosses that good.

Special Bethelite Speakers
by JW_Rogue ini've noticed that some elders will insist on getting a special bethel speaker for memorials, special talks, or sometimes for no reason at all!
i believe they are trying build connections they can use later, but who pays for it?
the congregation does and as a former account servant i can tell you airfare isn't all that cheap.

"You're going to die in Armageddon"
by Jules Saturn ini'm sure i am not the only one to have heard this come out of the mouths of my loved ones.
it's a very painful thing to hear, especially when it comes from the people like your own parents/family.
even after i've been told that, they would say "we'll just continue life without you.

I was told this recently as well. It really wasn't too shocking because I expected it. I used a favorite JW line, "well, I'll leave that in Jehovah's hands." If he chooses to do this than I will own it. I made the choice and if that is what he chooses, well so be it. In my opinion, if God wants to destroy me because I don't attend the Kingdom Hall anymore but me and my family are loving, kind and compassionate people, then I guess I really don't want to worship a God so cruel.
This is a disturbing cult that has a lot of decent people that can be manipulated by fear. What a sad way to live your life...in fear. WT knows it works, that is why they are ramping up the fear in all the assembly parts and on Jay dub ya dot org.

Like eewx2 said above...."we all have to do what is best for US." She's right. We all have a different story and circumstances.

We stopped going 4 years ago. When we were contacted by the Elders we told them we were doing fine and if we needed them, we know their phone number. When they come to your home, you don't have to answer the door. If you do answer, tell them you are fine and know how to contact them. If they push it, firmly tell them that you do not want to discuss anything with them. You don't owe anyone an explanation. It's a private matter. Be firm and strong with strong eye contact. If they know they can intimidate you, they will. The less you talk, the better. If they happen to DF you and anyone asks why, tell them you were DFed because you have missed meetings. If you want to DA, do it but be real about the consequences. You will loose family and "friends." Keep us posted.

Great post. You should be so proud of what you have accomplished. I am sure you worked very hard for what you have. You wrote so much that needs to be said. Thank you.
I would love to be a fly on the wall if that asshat brother who mocked you came into the ER, needing your skills. Oh the smile on your face would be priceless.

Ex or Current Elder Question
by LovingLifeNow inso i have been inactive for about a year and a half.

Like everyone said above....it depends on who it is. If you've been out awhile and they have forgotten about you or are just too lazy and don't care, you can probably get away with it. It's the Nazi Elders you have to watch out for. We have one out after us. These ones will try and engage any other Nazi elder that will join them. Watch your back if you don't want to be DFed. If you don't care....celebrate away!

Geoffrey Jackson: "That would be presumptuous of us"...
by Calebs Airplane inwithin the first few minutes, mr. stewart asked geoffrey jackson if the members of the governing body consider themselves to be god's spokesperson on earth.. his response: "that would be presumptuous of us" (implying that they don't consider themselves to be god's sole channel of communication).. to me, that was the worst lie of about 26 lies he's told during this hearing.
however, mr. stewart missed an opportunity to call out mr. jackson on this bold-faced lie.
he should have asked him to explain why the watchtower magazine teaches otherwise.

His answer was beautiful. It was all being taped for all to see. The more the GB is exposed, the more people are waking up. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK WT!
