The "Imperfect Men" Argument
by steve2 inone of the most common "defences" of jw organization is that "the brothers" are imperfect yet still strive to follow god's word.
"sure, they make mistakes," so the argument goes, "but so did god's people in the past, including in bible times.
" the key point is their readiness to keep studying god's word and learning from their mistakes.".

So they are imperfect and we have to accept that?
When a member of the congregation is sitting in front of 3 "imperfect men" at their judicial committee and they are getting raked over the coals, does WT sweep it aside as the member is "imperfect" and they accept that? NOPE! The congregation member is grilled for in depth details of the so called "sin." Once they decide your fate, you are publicly humiliated again in front of the entire congregation with your name mentioned. Whether it is DF'ing or public reproof. Everything in WT land flows one way, Watchtowers way!

I have been told by many that the GB only advises that you NOT send your kid to college if they live on campus. That is a load of BS.

"We never solicit donations" - really?
by doubtfull1799 ininspired by this weeks clam article which again "reminds" the brothers pdf their obligation/privilege to donate "voluntarily" i have complied a list of articles or videos in the last 5 years where donations are indeed solicited or encouraged.
the society may argue that these are not actual solicitations because no plate was passed around.
but a donation box is just a more discrete and subtle version of the plate.

More WT double speak! We did not donate much when we were in and now we donate NO money or time.

Legalism at it's best!!!
An Elder in our hall had his kid in uni and he stepped it up to stay an Elder. The kid pioneered and Daddy had nights (mid week meeting) that he ran the entire show. If you kiss enough a** and keep the Body of Elders satisfied, you are good to go.
I would love to see the "loyalty" of the Elder challenged. Would he keep the kid in college or choose his position. I would love to see WT put this "man made rule" in force. The Elder is deleted, no matter the circumstances or how much he kisses a**. Where would the Elder's loyalty be...keeping his kid in college or keeping his position? Remember the Elders wife too. They LOVE being the "Elders wife."
I will believe that one when I see it.
As far as the porn viewing. The entire room full of Elders should be deleted. They are the biggest porn watchers! lol
I will believe that one when I see it.

Fade..... or this?
by Giordano inthere are four ways to leave the 'truth'...... alive............you can be disfellowshiped...... then shunned, you can formally disassociate yourself and be shunned........ you can fade.
the first two words belong to the society, fade on the other hand is defined as 'to gradually grow faint and disappear.
' 'walking away' has it's own negative connotation about one's commitments and relationships.. i think some folks feel uncomfortable with these words.

According to others we are just not a "spiritual" family (I assume that makes the judgmental ones feel better about themselves). I guess we are considered weak. Little do they know the strength it took to escape this cult. I really don't care what the JW's think of us anymore, we are just glad we are "free."

Caleb and Sophia Video Mashup to Hard Knock Life
by Wild_Thing ini thought this video was pretty well done and mildly entertaining to watch.. on another note, i am really hoping some clever ex-jws will do their own animation series with caleb and sophia as young adults trying to leave the org.
that would be awesome.
caleb and sophia ... the ex-jw years.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lwoitxaa_u.

Thank you, George Couch!
by charonsdog ini just thought i'd share this story from my past.. back in the 80s i remember the big problem seemed to be about music.
(today, it's tight pants, i guess) the organization, society, whatever they were calling themselves, were always going on about the music we listened to.
disco, heavy metal, the whole "backwards masking" thing...couldn't escape hearing or reading about how satan was corrupting us unless we were listening to kingdom melodies or elevator music.. i was assigned to wtf in the late 80s and remember one of the articles stating that "young people know that the rhythm of rock music is the rhythm of sexual intercourse.

Sorry to hear that you left the "truth"
by eyeuse2badub inthe other day i ran into a jw who just happened to be my very friend during my jw days (which were most of my life).
so for about 60 years we were each other’s very best friend.
we grew up together from about 8 years old and are the same age, now in our early 70’s.

Great response. I will have to try and remember that one.
It is so sad when we loose contact with people we truly cared about. We think about all the good times and even the bad times that we went through together. I am sure you are the same wonderful person that you were years ago. My spouse and I left a few years ago but we are still the same kind and generous people we were before (minus the cult). The sad part about this is, people no longer want to be attached to us due to inactivity in WT. It says so much about those people. We joke from time to time. I wonder if we won millions in the lottery or were given a large sum of money, do you think these ones would give us a call. My heart breaks for those who thought these people ("friends" and family) would love them no matter what. This cult puts such a wedge in relationships and the lives of others. There is nothing more sacred than family and Watchtower has done NOTHING to keep families together. They have ripped them apart. For that, I think Watchtower will pay dearly. I hope I live long enough to see it.

Everyone had given you 100% accurate advise. Take it to heart.
"I don't plan on taking out my nose ring or to stop getting tattoos. If they prevent that, I will not comply. "
JW's will try and "clean you up" eventually. They are love bombing you.
The only additional thing I can add is....RUN LIKE HELL!!!!
