to date, 3.5 million dollars was collected and 75 acres was purchased.
the branch decided that this assembly hall was not needed.

We came clean with all of our friends and family. This is an abusive, destructive, controlling cult. It is such a relief to be free from it.

hello everyone, i have an on and off again ex who is a jw.
each time her family gets involved and she's gone again.
i'm debating biting the bullet and doing the work to become baptized, so we can follow through with our engagement.
I would ask myself the personal question. If I did not have the girlfriend, would I want to get baptized?

i have seen so many that have left.
and their life turned into a dumpster fire.
most do not live the average life of living in suburbs, raising a family.
I have seen this as well. Some of people leave and make some really bad choices. I have seen a lot leave who have massive depression and have a drinking problem. We have witnessed several who are on prescription meds and they are NOT getting these meds the typical route. Purchasing them on the black market and in foreign countries. We actually know several that are doing this and they are NOT the average publisher. If you get my drift.
Once some leave, not only do these ones loose all of their social network, they also loose all of their family. Loosing your family is one of the worst forms of abuse. Holding people hostage and ruining families should be a crime.
My spouse and I have realized that we could possibly loose all of our family. We are fine with that. We don't agree with it but could handle it if faced with it. We are strong people with realistic attitudes. I don't believe that the majority are that strong. Some are DF'd and want their family back. They get reinstated and then fade once that has happened. Some who are DF'd still believe that they deserved what was done to them and need to "set it right with Jah."
WT uses these people as examples to control the rank and file. They use fear to keep the sheeples in line. So many JW's are disconnected from the "real world." They have pioneered, been need greaters and have been Bethelites. There are so many who rely on family to support them and just don't have the realistic everyday examples of the good and bad of people (all people).
The movie The Truman show is a fantastic movie for any JW to watch. Trumans life was a TV show and not real. Once he realized his whole life was scripted and fake, he wanted more. A real life. The "protected JW" is the most vulnerable JW. WT tells them how to think, feel and act and they put full confidence in these men.

The parents may have the primary responsibility for their childs safety but when there is a pedophile in the congregation, the Elders do not let the congregation know that there is one in their midst. Even in the "world" there is a list of child molesters and the public has access to that info. In the congregation, NO ONE knows there is a monster in their midst. I have a issue with that one!

by recording the number of hours of “love” shown to neighbours each month in their monthly report slip, aren't jw's in reality doing what christ said not to do?.

JW's don't have any problem tooting their horns at the assemblies. All of their experiences are bragging rights from the most uber class. They just loooove to tell all in attendance how "spiritual" they are and how much THEY have "sacrificed for Jehovah." So much for the humble JW.

Yes. It is love bombing at its best. Our family tried it as well. When you know what to expect, it makes it a little easier to figure out what they are doing.
It is nice to feel loved and accepted. We all want that, especially from family. The problem is, if you don't do the JW tasks (field service, meeting attendance, assemblies, etc.), you will be considered "not progressing in the truth." Once they see this, the love bombing stops. It's conditional love vs. un conditional love.
I guess we all have to realize what they do and why. It's a tough one. Hugs to you!
