We have some family that became "need greaters." It was an excuse to get out of dodge. Once things got bad where they are, the need greating becomes a place to escape to. One thing they found out was, their problems follow them and then they move off to another place that "needs them."

'Serving where the need is greater' - who does it benefit?
by eyeslice2 inwe have recently been in asia on vacation, travelling to a number of countries in this part of the world.
whilst in thailand, my wife, totally pimo, wanted to go to the english speaking convention in bangkok.
although i haven't been active for a very long time, i went along with her.. the first thing that slightly surprised me was the attendance, well over 900. i hadn't expected that many but they were from all over the country, which is a pretty big place.

by JustHuman14 ini left wt, 18 years ago.

i find it hard to recognize that religion.. what i can tell, like all of ex jw's is that wt going down.. their corporate directors know it.

You just can't make this stuff up!!
It looks like your ex is missing out on a outstanding son and family. Her loss! It is sad but let her enjoy her cult while you enjoy your freedom and family.

Hello Everyone, Another JW Has Left!
by SuperGirl injust want to introduce myself and let you know that this site is working and is a big help to lots of jws with doubts.
i've been lurking for about a year, the first couple of times i was frightened and literally shaking visiting an apostate site but it's the only place i can come to for sanity.
the religion has become a nut house.

Welcome SuperGirl. You have made my spouse and my day!!! It is so good to hear people are leaving. Once we stopped attending, we lost touch with everyone.
We have not attended a meeting in over 5 years. We faded and took our kids with us. We are 100% out. We are not DF'd or DA'd. Once we stopped turning field service time in, we were dropped like a rock. Our "friends" in the org no longer exist. When we told our family that we were done with the religion, they still spoke to us but we notice they keep their distance. We are like the plague I guess. lol
It is very disturbing how they all just drop you but I CAN assure you it is well worth it. Our life is MUCH happier without witnessing all the judgement, hypocrisy ans self righteousness that these people seem so good at.
I am glad that your child and your ex are out also.
Keep moving forward and trust that there are good people out there. They are not the evil people that we were taught they were. They actually LIKE you for who you are, not what you are.
Our kids are thriving and once we got past the disturbing fact, that those who abandoned us were not our "friends" we were able to move on.
If our family doesn't want us then that is their loss and their choice. We told them that we would be here for them but if they chose not to, we would have to understand.
I am glad you found us. There are so many on here who have been right where you are. We may not all agree 100% of the time but you will receive support and guidance along the way.
This site taught us how to deal with the nosy JW's and prying Elders.
Keep us posted on your progress and start enjoying the life we were all meant to live!!! Hugs!!!

Commuter Bethelite video
by no-zombie infor those who missed last weeks clam meeting, there was a video played that was amazing ... however not in good way.. we are all aware how thousands of full time bethelites world wide got the boot and put out onto the street.
some having giving most of their lives to the organization, but often with no real way to support themselves other than to depend on the generosity of others.
so when this video talked about how special it would be for those who could step up and become a commuter bethelite, it made me think how calculating the governing body must be.

We know of some called "remote Bethelites." I guess it is the same thing, WT doesn't have to supply and pay for their housing, food, etc. It's a great gig for WT.
I agree, WT is playing a shell game. Moving the pieces around so they don't look so obvious. Some see through it and others think that this is the way Jehovah (aka...the Watchtower) wants it.

Can we ever get our loved ones out?
by SnakesInTheTower ina post on another thread got me to thinking and writing.. should we even be trying to get our loved ones out of jehovah's witnesses?.
when a person truly believes in their belief system, or even if they don't but have held to that system for a long time, there is nothing we can say that will move them from that system.. why?
perhaps pride.

Our older jw family is better off in the Borg. Leaving would destroy EVERYTHING the have. They already have crap for life, so leaving would just add to the crap they already have.
They would have NO WHERE to go on Thursday or Sunday and they have zero social circle outside of the WT. None still in have too much involvement with anyone at their jobs or they don't work at all.
Leaving their "JW comfort zone" would be detrimental. We have decided to just leave them alone and when we speak to them, it is just small talk. It's just better this way.

The gullibility has no bounds with these people
by nowwhat? intalking to a couple old friends and like many are not too pleased with the k.h.
selloffs and being squeezed into another hall.
" oh well the organization needs the funds to build all the k.h's in africa where all the growth is".

These are the same people who fell for the book study being done away with because of gas prices. They also fell for the overlapping generation teaching.
Our families are still buying it. They are NOT critical thinkers, they are scared of anything outside of the JW bubble and they like others to tell them what to do because they can't rely on their own brains to make a decision.
It looks like these types are a dime a dozen. Gullible is the correct word. lol
