i didn't go to the first sunday(7/14/19) meeting discussing "child abuse".
but i did ask a sister who i work with: how did it go at the watchtower study yesterday?
she said: "i cried throughout the meeting".
Thank you for sharing that James. We have been out for over 6 years so we do not get to see what is going on in the inside.
Seeing the reaction of the sisters crying, makes you wonder, how many people have actually been sexually abused and nothing was done about it.
i happen to run into a couple of elders and one of their bible studies was with them.
after we said our formal greetings to each other we caught up on each other’s history.
somehow the conversation took a turn into politics.
It's funny that when you are sitting on the other side of the table during a JC, the Elders don't say, "don't worry, Jehovah will take care of it." They sit you down, make you spill the most intimate of details, shame you and then humiliate you in front of the entire congregation.
We have an entire family that has "waited on Jehovah" to provide it ALL. They are in their 70's, broke, no retirement, one has no children or husband, no education and is poor heath. They are living a VERY financially stressful life because they have "waited on Jehovah." This cycle will continue, as long as JW's have this mind set. Sad! This statement is the biggest cop out!!!
It has always reminded me of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind. When she was faced with worries, she said, "I'll think about that tomorrow. Tomorrow is another day."
Eventually, JW's will have to face life. Our family is facing it!
i attended several meetings, and i was shocked at how some of the jw's dress.
is it just my area (tennessee), or is it a widespread problem?

... will they take it upon themselves to warn their bible studies of pedophile activity in the congregations so they can protect their children, or will the cycle of abuse continue with the attitude of letting new ones take their chances along with the rest of us?.
I wish our family would see it but they won't. The photo of the heads buried in the sand is spot on. We have given up the hope that they will see the truth.
if you go to jw.org, you can download the program for 2019 convention.. what i notice is that nowadays there is no meeting for ones wishing to serve at bethel or for those interested in gilead missionary school.
rather, there is just a meeting for those interested in 'the school for kingdom evangelizers'.. two things strike me about this.
first, although there was once a big play on bethel and gilead being held out as career options, this is now just about dead and buried.
They do have work for the JW's. Making trinkets, banners and setting up entertainment for the International Delegates. The NEW AND IMPROVED JW'S.
the latest item of the italian language blog proclamatore consapevole details a problem facing jws their bid to move the bethel from rome (which they apparently sold) , into an existent structure in bologna.
a recently enacted law requires existing buildings in that city to be retrofitted to withstand earthquakes.
the problem is that the remedial work is (1) extremely expensive (in many, if not most cases, tearing down the building is cheaper); and (2) the work cannot be done by the usual volunteer labor jws employ on construction projects; it must be contracted to a third-party specialist firm.
Well, it looks like ole WT is in the pickle many of us have once been in. Money we don't have or facing a financial hurdle. Now when we told Watchtower Elders or rank and file that WE were facing these things, what were we told? "Build your house on a solid foundation, not on sand, blah, blah, blah. Pray more, attend more, study more, blah, blah, blah". The shoe is now on the other foot. Shame shame!!
This is long overdue and it will be interesting to see "the beast" sweat.
so there isn't a congregation in my town, they come from the congregation about five miles away about twice a year to do fs.. this morning i was driving out of the town on the country roads and there were four jws (obvious by men with briefcases and women in very long dresses).
they seemed to be walking to the next place, a village about 15 minutes walk away.. why not drive?
they must have left the cars in my town!
They are killing time. Most JW's hate field serve us. That's why you see them walking like snails from door to door. I told my husband one Saturday morning (in serve us), "slow down, quit driving so fast, we have 2 hours to kill!" The entire car group busted out laughing. lol
my judicial committee was set for monday.
the message says to call back asap and that he loves me, but he said it like "i love ya, girl" he never has said that to me like that.
so, i call back and he says i have been a hard person to get a hold of and that confused me because i had not received any calls from him.
So sorry you had to experience this. It hurts.
The fact that your Dad put the Elders on the phone and actually seemed to be enjoying the moment is disturbing. He showed his true colors. I believe I would keep away from that traitor.
The sad part is that one day when he becomes a old man and the loving congregation is tired of taking care of him, they will actually have the balls to call upon you. My advise....DON'T ANSWER.
These stories just make me pine for the day this cult has to pay for what they have done to people's lives.
