I've been reading up on the Panspermia effect/theory so the possibility is not entirely illogical.

What would happen if life was found elsewhere?
by HowTheBibleWasCreated insee jws have said time and again jesus died once for all time... a quote from hebrews.
okay rule out humn-like aliens what about animals plants and microbes... i once had a hot fight with an elder when i still believed that here was no reason to doubt alien animals etc.
yet not based on any wt article witnesses reject this often.. lets suppose say in a month microbes are found on ceres (i doubt it will happen but let's roll with it) they are living as much as our cells are and reporduce... okay what would mother say in the magazines when millions of jehovah's witnesses demand to know why jehovah created microbes on a dwarf planet?.

Child sexual abuse and a loving God.
by Tenacious ini'm having a hard time reconciling how such a loving and merciful god would require someone as innocent and helpless as a child or an adult for that matter, in order to properly establish a claim sexual abuse, having the need to produce another witness that actually witnessed the abuse.
how ludicrous is this?
how can the holy bible, the divine word of god, make a requirement such as this?

How ludicrous is this? How can the Holy Bible, the divine word of God, make a requirement such as this? Moreover, why would Jesus repeat such a requirement? How could God not have seen how this one rule would put so many children and people all over the world in danger? Am I missing something here?
This is one reason why I sometimes have a hard time believing the validity of the Bible.

Introducing myself
by maksutov inmy name is russ, i'm 40 years old, from the uk, and i left the jws nearly 5 years ago.
i've been a member of the yuku board throughout that time, so there are probably some on here who know me already.
there seems to be more activity over here at the moment, so i thought i'd pop in and say hi.i was raised as a jw, started questioning it when i was 16, but there was no internet back then (well, no www anyway) so i got sucked right in and got baptized when i was 18. auxiliary pioneered on and off for a couple of years, then became a ministerial servant.

Welcome! I truly hope you can find or have found inner peace with yourself. I know having a spouse that is a JW can be frustrating but worry not. Your wife will eventually see the organization for what it really is. The best defense to use when discussions come up is the organization's own offense. Use their own publications, at least the study articles, and simply ask her to view it with an objective common sense mind approach. She'll come around hopefully.
All the best from the deep south in the U.S.

I turned to my wife during the magazine study to ask her why Jesus asked his disciples to symbolically drink his blood yet the WTS asks it's members to abstain physically. Symbolic versus Literal = same thing.
The look on her face was priceless.

My Explanation of Why They Got it Wrong About Blood Using Only the NWT
by cofty in10 " any israelite or any alien living among them who eats any bloodi will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from his people.
12 therefore i say to the israelites, "none of you may eat blood, nor may an alien living among you eat blood.
15 'anyone, whether native-born or alien, who eats anything found dead or torn by wild animals must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be ceremonially unclean till evening; then he will be clean.

Is Watchtower's stance against education only for North American witnesses
by wannaexit ini was reading on a european ex jw forum where some feel that watchtower's railing against higher education is primarily for north america issue.
this is due that many in usa and canada leave home to leave on campus.
it was mentioned that many young european jw attend universities and its not frowned on.. i found this odd because i heard what morris and losch said about education in italy.

This one's easy to answer.
The Europeans aren't as gullible as their U. S. counterparts.

Congregation that have sent in money!
by DwainBowman inin the past week, i have heard from a number of friends scattered all over the place.
a number of them are very upset over the congregation being required, to send in all monies over $4,000.
a number of these were kh's that were saving to buy land, and or build new kh's.

There have been phantom assembly building projects in Columbia and mexico where they were taking donations, and it wasn't until the local elders started questioning the society about their intentions and where the money was, that they fessed up and admitted that the project was no longer happening.
This is very interesting. Any more information? I'd like to read up on this one. Just when it seems they can't get any worse they surprise us. -

To those poor saps that donated money for a specific purpose and did not put it on paper as in a contractual agreement, please kiss your money goodbye. The WTS will never give you a cent back.
They are so tight with their money that even Andrew Jackson and Benjamin Franklin want out.

Do you believe what the Bible teaches? If "yes", why? If "no", why?
by Tenacious inif you do believe in the bible's message, do you believe society has gotten better, worse, or has remained the same?.
if you don't believe in the bible's message, do you believe society has gotten better, worse, or has remained the same?.
on a personal note, there are many things that i can't help but notice that coincide with what the apostle paul wrote to timothy in his second letter chapter 3 regarding tough times:.

I appreciate everyone's input. Humans have made incredible strives in the past 100 years when compared with the past 1,000 years. There's no disputing that scientific and technological breakthroughs have made the world a much better place to live in and the average human lifespan has increased tremendously.
The words of Paul resonate with me when statistically speaking, the wars that Jesus describes in the gospels, the violence that is so prevalent today as opposed to 50 years ago. Most kids growing up today are much more independent and rebellious with parents. Corporate greed has skyrocketed and while many third world countries have improved dramatically, there are still millions of people who live in poverty and die hungry.
