I viewed this video sometime ago. I found it sad yet amusing. Entertaining yet upsetting. Stupid yet stupid again

@ LisaRose - thank you for your candor and explanation on believing and disbelieving.
I too could not wrap my head around the lack of evidence of a global flood. Then again, science has found that strawberries and bananas DNA have similar characteristics to our own DNA. And in the Genesis account God says we were created from the ground or dust. Then again, Jesus, in Mark 4:30-32 said that the mustard seed was the smallest of all the seeds. So while I still believe, I also have doubts.

Should I associate with this person?
by stuckinarut2 inso there is a guy who wants me to associate with him.
but there are some strange things about him, such as:.
he hears "direction from unseen" forces.. he thinks the idea of slavery was ok.. he likes killing animals and splashing their blood around and making huge bonfires of carcasses smoke all day long.. he has one wife, or maybe two, but is ok with having lots of other sleeping partners as well.. he likes another person who slept with his own daughters.. he thinks women should be subservient and "keep their place".. he frowns on education.. he thinks killing in a war is ok if they deserve it...even babies should be killed.. he is often asking for money.. he thinks that pyramids foretell the future, and that only a few people can explain divine truths to him, except their explanations have changes many, many times...often contradicting other teachings.... etc..... get it?

Definitely something to meditate on.

@ Cofty and Viviane:
Please understand that I'm not defending anyone's actions or condemning them, I'm explaining it.
If you guys don't believe that the following quote is indicative of calling someone a bull****er than please accept my apologies. I'm not able to break it down any further:

Everybody has a right to express themselves as they see fit but expressing oneself in a professional, firm yet courteous way, can lead to even more insight and participation by other members who won't feel intimidated by the harsh and pointed language specifically aimed at members who disagree with another member's opinion albeit factual information.
While I'm not fragile, like I said, there are those members who wish to participate in some threads yet refrain from doing so due to the nature of the conversation and where it's headed.
I reserve the right to engage anyone on any subject, yet I find it's more beneficial for everyone that healthy respectful thread comments be made in the interest of reading different perspectives and allowing more participation by different board members. This can only lead to a deeper more meaningful productive discussion.

@ Viviane and cofty:
Cofty, while you didn't spell it out, you did call EOM a bull***ter.
EOM did also throw some jabs at both of you which is also not very nice.
I just sincerely appreciate everyone's contribution and believe that by being respectful and respectfully refuting an argument is better than being argumentative which is not very conducive to a healthy forum environment.
Thank you guys for your contribution.

Cofty I respect you. Your contributions to this site add to the broad base of knowledge.cofty wrote:

I ask that, out of respect for other contributors, you refrain from attacking someone personally.
It would better serve this member forum to have an open, fair, and respectful discussion without resorting to name calling.
Thank you to everyone, including you cofty, for your contribution to this thread so far.

I certainly feel your pain TE. If it was only that easy, they would have changed.
It's always been the same though. Loyalty lies with the organization not scripture.
The GB, a long time ago, reached the point of no return. So why are they unable to mend their ways? Why can't they listen to sincere brothers who wish nothing but the best for everyone and who sincerely adhere to scripture?
"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
The GB will never change until Christ does away with them when he finally makes his presence known and we truly, truly enter the last days of this system. The GB are part of prophecy and whether they realize it or not, their end is coming and somehow, someway, they are trying to appease Jehovah by trying, I stress trying, to honor His Son which they have all but ignored.
You brothers on the Governing Body:
Sorry but when you are part of prophecy, you are done. God has spoken. Take your place and allow divine will to happen. You should have never tried to subvert Jesus' place and become masters over the faith of so many sincere friends. Let me stress: Try as you may, to appear to honor the Christ NOW, is useless and even repulsing to Jehovah God. The difficulties you are suffering originate not with men but rather with Jehovah. Did you think he would allow YOUR will to take place? It's time to lay in your bed now. Rest easy friends. It won't be long now.

Although I am happy for you I can’t help but think that your appointment at this late hour is analogous to being assigned to the wheel room of the Titanic about the time the iceberg came into view. We wish you the best!
This is what drives me nuts about speaking with other witnesses. They ALL seem to know when the end will come and yet the Bible says otherwise.
I wish this imbecile could ask all the GB members that are now dead, while they were alive, if they would see the end.

I remember the very first time I questioned my existence. I was 12 and I had just finished working out. The question was simple; Why did I exist? How did I come into existence? Why me and not someone else?
My questions may seem odd to you guys but the last question is the one that most intrigued me. How come I had come into existence and not the hundreds of other kids taking a shot at mom's egg
Are we truly made of vibrations and frequencies? Can our consciousness truly affect reality? How does the "two-slit" experiment fit into our reality?
I just couldn't comprehend how I came to be. Do I regret coming to know God and his righteous ways? No. Do I regret the organization that was chosen for me to come to know God's requirements or recommendations for living a good moral life? Yes!! I could have learned just the same from reading and meditating on Scripture. It's like Christ said if we were taught Scripture free, we should do just the same. And not behold someone to man-made teachings that are not Scriptural.
As far as why I choose to believe in the Christian God or the God of the Bible, is due to having witnessed, what many would consider coincidence but I would consider divine intervention. Yes, I can personally attest to prayers being answered just as asked.
Then there's the diversity of animal and plant life. There are many animal characteristics that science is unable to copy for different commercial and personal applications. Then there's the intricate and incredibly complex design of our human body.
Then there's planet Earth and it's ability to sustain life with the soil when properly cared for, can feed the entire planet. Then there's the vast universe and everything in it. I'm not trying to convince anyone I'm merely pointing why I choose to believe.
There are still many things that I do question and have not found a reasonable answer to. For example, if God wishes for no one to be destroyed, why would he depend on only 8 million members, with the majority being schmucks, to accomplish this incredibly difficult task of reaching the almost 7 1/2 billion people on the planet? What prevents God from interceding in good people's lives in order to avert pain and suffering and instead we are left with two contradicting views in the Bible? God protects those that are faithful yet time and unforeseen occurrence can befall anyone? Why is there no proof of an Earth wide flood?
While many of us may view the Bible differently, the message that Christ conveys is universal love for your fellow man. And that is something that, if practiced, without reservations, can lead to a better earth.
In the end, a measure of faith is required for me to believe humans were not purposed to just live a measly 80 years while some animals and trees live significantly longer. Then, when speaking of plants and trees, there's the question of them being alive. There are videos on YouTube where plants respond to human speech. There are also plenty of videos where water molecules are affected by the negative or positive emotions we evoke.
I find there is so much more we don't know about our reality but little by little science is revealing it. Yet, like I said, there are processes and designs that science is unable to replicate and will perhaps never be able to do. I guess time will tell and reveal what we are, what we are doing here, and where we are going, if anywhere.

I know this question has popped up from time to time but I really would like to know how you guys, those that no longer believe, came to that conclusion? Was it the WTS and all its crap? Was it something you read? Was it something you experienced? What led you to your current beliefs or non-beliefs?
Please if at all possible, try and support your answer with references. This way other members when reaching this thread can clearly view the different point of views and why those positions have been taken.
Personally speaking, I do continue to believe in a Creator God. I will admit though, sometimes that foundation shakes a little. And finding TTATT sure as heck did not help at all. I have however, found comfort in www.perimeno.ca
That's not a plug rather an admittance on what sustains me to this day.
Is it we have to believe in something or hold faith in something bigger, grander, more fulfilling than our current life in order to be satisfied in a spiritual way? Is there anything to a higher consciousness?
Thanks for participating.
