It's the same with using the Gregorian calendar, names of the week, wedding rings, bonfires, etc.
Just a wink and a nod I guess. Probably same stupid reason why Brits can sport a beard but we can't. Go figure.
if jehovah hates magic, why is it ok to go to magic theme parks such as disney land the magic kingdom?
i grew up a jw and we all went to disney land and magic mountain.
if jehovah hates magic then why are these places not forbidden?

so after almost a year of complete inactivity and non attendance, i ran into a nice brother from the local congregation.. after some nice chit-chat, he says "we really miss you and your family...etc...you were always the kind and supportive one, the approachable and encouraging one in the congregation.
your absence has confused so many".
i thanked him and said "oh no, no individual has stumbled us.
Jesus did say that "the truth" would set us free.
I think he meant the TTATT not the witness truth.
Yeah, it's actually a sight to see and witness when you run into friends and smack them with the truth and they'll just look at you dumbfounded and upset that they now know the truth. Hahaha
can you allay my suspicions of wt associated activity?.
during the last 3 to 4 co visits, i noticed a predeliction on the part of the ladt few co's for taking photos at fs meetings and photos of cong at end of visit.
i'm beginning to suspect that such is not because the co's have a newly found socially engaging disposition (being cool).
I was still very much in when we we're asked to pose for a family pic by the CO wife including our names. And at the next meeting we got the pic back with a text below stipulating who it came from, etc. I thought back then (4-5 years ago) that it was nice yet very strange. Something just didn't feel right. I guess intuition.
i'm just curious as to how it all happened.. to explain.
many years back, before ex-jw websites, i called on a local lady in order to design an extension to her already enormous house.
she was a young, voluptuous gal, married to a much older local business man who spared little expense in order to give his young wife whatever her heart desired.. we chatted for ages.
It wasn't until the early 90s that I learned of Ray.
The gossip was he was trying to get only the rank and file or regular non-titled members to do the house to house preaching. Also that he was trying to subvert and take over the organization a sort of hostile takeover. At the time, I thought "wow! this is crazy. this guy is satan incarnate!". What a tangled web we weave.
Like the rest of you, it wasn't until I read CoC that everything came into focus. More so now with the testimonies from people like the Kuilan's, Ed Dunlap, and Peter Gregerson just to name a few.
Ray was a gentle soul who got railroaded by those power hungry maggots.
When I first heard about this incident I thought the GB were men in white clothing floating in mid-air reciting prayers and Jehovah's bright light shinning over them as they mentally received spiritual insight. Hahahahahaha
i'm new here and haven't introduced myself yet, but have been lurking for the past couple of weeks and learned so much!
quick first question: if i get disfellowshipped for researching info on websites other than jw.org (the official website), how can i expect to be treated by my husband still in the truth?
ie what will he be told by the elders about how to treat me?
Welcome!
I don't believe surfing or reading anti-JW sites is a disfellowshipping offense. It only becomes one if you decide to share your findings with other members.
So, if you don't want any trouble with your hubby or the elders, don't mention that you do this. Keep to yourself although you may want to "wake up" family members, friends, etc.
If you want to help me wake up, ask them pointed questions to make THEM reflect and meditate on the teachings.
Best!!
(i am still a serving elder.
i have no idea how much longer i can stomach it.
timing is terrible for stepping down right now, though.
Thanks for the exploits. You know the saying. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. In all honesty the majority of elders get a high with these power trips.
I sit back there shocked at how these men play "God" in people's lives.
The only power elders have, is the power that is afforded them. I believe Giulio Andreotti said it best:
"Power wears out those who don't have it."
I stopped recognizing their authority a few years ago. And although I'm still a member that shows up every once in a blue moon, they are not stupid enough to even look in my direction unless it's just to say hello. They learned I'm a no nonsense kind of guy so that lesson has been taught already.
Cheers!
well, last monday my mother, a jehovah's witness since her baptism in 1968 died last week because she would not accept a blood transfusion.
she was 76 and had lung and skin cancer.
i know that the cancer would have gotten her anyway, but she was bleeding internally, and was told that she needs a blood transfusion, as her blood count went all the way down to 3.2 (should be 12-14.
I'm very sorry for your loss. And while I don't know you personally, I know the feeling of losing someone to this inhumane doctrinal interpretation.
If I hear one more person say "she is alive in Jehovah's memory" I am going to punch someone.
I commend you for keeping your cool with these moronic and blind members. God knows how you managed to stay controlled. I don't know that I could have kept my cool in similar circumstances.
Take care of yourself and PM if you ever need an ear or just vent. Take care friend.
you all like miracles?
wanna hear some real miracles that have happened?
this is all true folks!
There are more miracles coming from Christendom than the JW's.
Yet, they lay claim to having God's blessing. What a joke.
the christian gospel begins with the dehumanising assertion that all humans are fallen sinners who deserve nothing but god's judgement and wrath.. not only does this taint all relationships between christians and unbelievers, it destroys the beautiful innocence of childhood.
in a recent edition of the popular christian radio program "family life today", titled “introducing your child to god,” co-host bob lepine discussed teaching “practical theology” to his young daughter, explaining:.
when my daughter, amy, was still less than two years old, i started teaching practical theology to her.
Your post just remind me of something I said some years ago at a meeting:
"From the moment we are born, we are born sinners, we have begun to die, and unless we change that, we will die in an eternal sense."
The comment is true, of course not to you [cofty] or the majority of those on this forum, but to Christian believing people it is. However, thinking back now, I'm disappointed with myself for having said it so passionately and openly like that with many children in attendance. I think that the same can be taught just by adhering to the moral standards taught in the Bible. Sometimes being blunt to minds that are not prepared to hear it can be detrimental. I still believe in the Christian God of the Bible yet I never taught that to any of my children or while in field service to any other children. My thoughts.
well, i have been lurking on this site for several months and i recently decided to join as a member.
i have made several observations and would like to make a few comments.. first, i am perplexed by the attitude of many on this site that are either former or active (but apostate) jws.
they seem to have a strong hatred for the wts and also for rank and file jws.
