Thank you Auldsoul, once again, for stating what hasn't been put into words yet...and so eloquently...while opening the can of whoop-____.

Firearms And Shooting...
by Justice-One ini thought i would open up a thread on firearms and shooting.
personally i was raised around firearms as my dad was not a jw.
some of my earliest memories are of my dad teaching me how to put a round in a fleas ass at 200 meters.

This is a soft place to land....full of people who, when confronted with the true evil of deception, chose to lose it all. I am proud to be among you all. I have found true and unconditional caring for the first time in my life.
I wrote awhile back:
After leaving that life behind I now find myself in an exploding rush of emotion and passion and life. Life the people around me think nothing of but it is almost too painful and beautiful and wonderful to endure. I am touched to the soul at the sight of people holding hands, and cry when babies laugh, and am intoxicated by the beauty around me. I am exhausted at the end of each day with the emotions I now can almost taste and the tuggings and longings I now feel to my bones. I want to see it all. I want to feel everything. I want to thank everyone who had a hand in dragging me from the lifeless shell I was in while I fought them off; and never forget that gratitude.
Thank you to the posters here for extending your hands and hearts, the lurkers for your curious spirits ( you aren't seen or heard but are very much felt), and the friends I have made for being the voice on the other end of the phone or the heart beyond the screen pointing the way for me, and to the friends I have yet to meet (may we walk this journey together). Life is good.

She never died to me. Funny, she is still with me and my JW family have all disappeared by their own wishing. She lives on through my children.

In honor of her, I am donating blood on her birthday every year. The sick policies of a publishing company are robbing us of extraordinary relationships. She was a strong, wonderful woman who taught me to love and be loved.

slip of the tongue of elder
by DannyBloem in.
this morning the speaker was late and they had to change the wachtower study with the public talk.. the young elder introducing this, was maybe a bit nervous of this happening (although it is certainly not the first time this year), and told that the public intercourse of the wachttower study would be held first, instead of the public discourse.

My little brother had a Bible reading at about age 6 and read to "not severely circumcize the older men" instead of criticize. Gave me ammo for years.

"Slogging" - the top speed at which JWs go door to door
by LovesDubs ini know this topic has been beat to death probably in here...but i was watching some of the "friends" going down my street the other day (and they categorically skip my house because satan and i are tight you know) and it reminded me so much of how much i hated going door to door and how i prayed when it was my turn to knock that nobody was home.
and we walked down those streets with our little territory cards in hand, making anywhere from meticulous to rediculous notes about the house we were just at...and moving our feet as slowly as we possibly could to maintain a forward motion at all, to eat up the time we were forced to (yes i said forced to) report every month.
field service was what you called the time you spent between when you were at mcdonalds and dunkin donuts.

Am I the only one who pretended to ring the doorbell when my service partner wasn't looking? (just rested my finger on it for a second) I had ALOT of not-at-homes!
