  It's indeed possible that the site given by phoenix have wrong datas. I don't know this site, and I have no clue if it's serious site or not! But if it's not serious, it looks very expensive to have access at dubious datas !

  But I'm happy with your answer, because you begin to understand my point!

  Yes if I say "the rate is equal between black and white", I say something totally factual (in the case the rate is really the same), but I say nothing at all in the same time! You done well by answering me with a putting in perspective. You didn't stay blocked at a data, you put this data in context!

  When facing datas not going first along with his own opinions, people usually, automatically, are putting datas in perspective and try to really understand the datas. But when the datas are going first along his own opinion, people usually, automatically, are stoping to think and are closing their mind at further putting in perspective and don't want to really understand the datas!

  That's my point since the beginning : a simple data say nothing correct if it's not put in perspective!

  I looked at your link about the causes of death among black people : https://www.statista.com/statistics/233310/distribution-of-the-10-leading-causes-of-death-among-african-americans/ and I looked at your explanations about these statistics.

  and after I searched, on the same site, the statistics for white people : https://www.statista.com/statistics/233304/distribution-of-the-10-leading-causes-of-death-among-whites-in-2016/

  They are almost exactly the same, with white dying in the same rate than blacks by heart attack (23,3%)!

  Then your explanation about the "black eating habits" is in fact based upon nothing factual at all!

  And after it's me who are explaining out of my rear end...

  Those who try to spin it and say its because they don't have any money are trying desperately to explain that those committing crime are not to blame.

  No, I try just to explain how to read correctly a detailed set of datas. Crime is linked with a strong correlation coefficient to poverty, that's a fact shown by all the datas and not only in US. The datas show that white poors commit crimes in the same rates than black poors.

  As a french I really don't care at all about dems or reps, liberal or conservatives propaganda, that's really an only US-centered concern. They're the same BS seen from here, to use a word you use at almost every one of your posts.

  Then, conclusion clear of the statistics, people commit crimes because of social background, not because of ethicity!

  Nothing to see with blaming or not blaming. Blaming is a justice subject, not a statistical one! I only speak about statistics!

  If you look the datas on two axis (ethnicity and social background), it's clear that criminal rate by ethnicity in a given socio-economic background don't depends on ethnicity

  We can see easily too, than if blacks are 13% of the population but are involved in 50% of crime, it's because these 13% of blacks represent in the same time 50% of the poors.

  Then, they don't commit crimes because of their ethnicity, but because of their social background!

  And in a country, where 13% of black people represent 50% of the poorest, it's exactly what is called a "systemic racism" (Nothing to see with laws or right)

  And it's just a report, not a judgement, because as a french, we can't teach lessons on that subject, it's almost the same here!

  The most dangerous areas in each state of the United States are usually black communities. Poverty plays a role but it does not explain it. There are plenty of poor people in the US that not criminals.

  That statement is at odds with the detailed statistics given earlier by hisclarkness and Quetzal!

  If we said 13% of a scout group ate over 50% of the cake, I wouldn't imagine it meant everyone had an equal share. Because that would be retarded. The 13% had way more than their fair share wouldn't you agree?

  You can conclude nothing in fact!

  Was the cake the only thing on the table?

  Perhaps the 87% another scout ate 100% of the sausage, and it was just the cake left for the 13%! And finally, the 13% ate far more less than the 87%...

  As I said before, with only one variable, you can't explain a statistic! Never!

  I will take the time it needs, but I will try to explain exactly what I want to say in my short sentences.

  Explaining correctly statistics is NEVER uniaxial! You can't use only one variable to explain a set of data! Or you're absolutely sure to reach totally erroneous conclusion!
  
  A typical simple example (with fictitious datas) : Let's say that we read this fact : "Finnish population have a consumption of firewood by capita a hundred times higher than ugandese population". Then, will we conclude that finnish people have a clear appetite for firewood that ugandese people don't have, and then conclude something about the essence of being finnish?

  Or will we add some another axis to sharpen our analysis? Things like average heat in Finland and Uganda during the year, the use of another source of heating in each country, etc...

  This example is simple by purpose. Nobody reading "Finnish population have a consumption of firewood by capita a hundred times higher than ugandese population" will conclude "Then finnish people have an huge appetite for firewood", and everybody will understand "Finland is really more cold than Uganda"
