18JW funerals getting more personable??
by Alana ini went to a jw funeral wednesday.
it was for the dad of two good jw friends (at least back in the days) of mine.
he was one of the nicest men ive ever known.

Need some info....
by Alana ini've tried to search jwd for what i want, but didn't find what i was looking for, so not sure if it is just what i searched for or if i just imagined the posting.
i thought that recently i read a post where someone was reasoning about the 'misleading' information from the wts, such as when they stated that the jws in 1914 were anticipating what we believe now about 1914, but how if you looked into the literature of that day, they believed that christ already came in 1874 and it wasn't 1914 like we believe today.....or something to that effect.
i am preparing some information that i may share with my mom and i wanted to include that point....as one (of many) examples of the misleading information provided by the fds.. does anyone remember that post and point me to it?.

Tiny Tim's daughter a JW.....
by Alana inyou know how when you look up something on the internet and it sparks your interest to look at something else, and then you click a link, etc.????
well, that happened to me and i ended up finding this information on a site regarding tiny tim and how his daughter didn't attend his funeral......(i don't even know what i originally looked up that lead me to this topic!!!
lol).....i asked miss sue about miss vicky and their daughter tulip.

Prince and upcoming Tour song list

the ads all say that this is the last time that he'll play his "old songs".
well, some of those "old songs" (which i do like) are not very witness-like at all, as you may know.

I got a great gift from Santa.....

it is so beautiful and i am so happy.
he is a wonderful man.

My father passed away....
by Alana ini know that i don't post often, but i read this board daily.
anyway, i just wanted to pass on the information that my father passed away last week.
he was 81 and in semi-poor health.

Israelite tabernacle and temples....of pagan origin?
by Alana ini believe that it was the history channel that i was watching this weekend....it was about egypt--land of the gods.
in it is talked about the ancient gods of egypt and the elaborate egyptian temples.
then, it spoke of how when the israelites left egypt how they at first had their movable tabernacle and then their temples and how the set-up of them with the courtyards and the holy and most holy places were based upon the pharoahic worship and temples of the egyptians.

i got delayed and didn't make it home in time for dateline.
i had, just in case, set my vcr to begin recording....but....i had the time set for 8:00pm (i'm in the central time zone).

"Social Retardation"
by Alana inquestion for those who were raised as jws.....after you left, especially if as an adult, did you ever feel like you were "socially retarded"?
i was married twice to jws, yet when i was single again as an xjw, i really felt like i didn't know how to get to know someone of the opposite sex, how to date, what to do or not do, what to expect or not expect.
my ex-husband talked to me the other day and he stated the same thing.
