One time I had a little extra cash, so I decided to donate it. The only problem was I couldn't decide if I should donate it to the WorldWide Work or the Kingdom Hall Fund. Then I realized it all goes to the same place and it doesn't relly matter, so I kept the money and bought a Black Sabbath CD.

a closed mind, a requirement?
by peacefulpete ingalatians opens with the direction to not listen to opposing religious views.
it goes so far as to say that even if they (ostensibly paul and his party) or an angel from heaven presents another opinion, they must refuse to listen even then condemning the messenger as an enemy.
ironically this very obstinance is condemned among the jews in the bible, when they supposedly refused to listen to the new direction from the christians, jesus and even the angels who according to the story announced this new faith's arrival.

Elders misusing donations for "the Worldwide Work" in Oz
by ozziepost inthe december issue of "kingdom ministry" for australia carries this announcement:.
"as a reminder to the brothers handling the congregation accounts, donations placed in the boxes for the worldwide work are to be remitted monthly and should not be used for payment on a kingdom hall property loan or for any other congregation expense.".
fancy that!

This is something that upsets me so much. The Watchtower has so much money and yet they get every penny they can from ordinary working people. When I was young, I was in a poor congregation and the Watchtower lent us the money to remodel. The congregation could barely pay the monthly mortgage. We had to revote our pledge several times and listen to countless talks about donating. The entire idea is absurd when you think about it. The Watchtower lends money to a congregation eventhough it has billions of dollars; expects to be repaid on time with interest and despite this, when the building is paid off the Watchtower essentially still owns it. Am I wrong?

Disassociation and Ray Franz
by greatteacher indoes anyone think that the rule which states that "associating with a disassociated person is a disfellowshipping offense" was created to disfellowship ray franz?
the reason i ask this is because i noticed that the watchtower published many articles with that rule at the same time period franz left bethal, but published nothing about it before around 1981.

Does anyone know of the Watchtower's policy on "how to treat disassociated ones" previous to 1981? Could witnesses associate with disassociated ones without receiving discipline before 1981?

I did some research on the subject and found that from 1930 to 1985 the Watchtower published 7 articles concerning "how to treat a disassociated person." All of these articles were published between September 1981 and July 1985. So, from 1930 to August 1981, nothing was published on "how to treat a disassociated person." Ray Franz was disfellowshipped for associating with a disassociated person shortly after the first article was published. Basically, like others have stated, it seems that this new rule was created to disfellowship Ray Franz (and others) because they couldn't get Ray for anything else and they knew his employer was disassociated and was helping Ray. If the above isn't true than what was the policy on "how to treat a disassociated person" previous to 1981? Why is there no mention of it before 1981? Any thoughts?

You're right, not just for Ray Franz, but I guess my question is this, When was the policy created to disfellowship for association with disassociated ones?
