My parents still in my life so a few weeks ago. My sister and friends, best friends, 6 years. Sucks! I don't care much about the congregation association, while I enjoyed and love everyone, they don't pull at my heart. I miss my sister and her family, especially now with my nephew having his first kid. But they only solution is GB finds old new light again (back to the 40's with the KM on how excommunication is a demonic mind fk) and lifts the shun or I go back in which I'll never do because of the lying and manipulation of the doctrine. It's really objectively a personality cult. I can't fake it and they'd all know just by my face lol.

Doe, et al v National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, PA.
by Richard Oliver inthis is a lawsuit brought by watchtower against an insurance company.
the company provided four insurance policies between 1989 and 1993. the policies were there to pay out any liability damages that would arise during that time from any damages caused by elders and mss advice.
there were a number of exceptions that were spelled out in the policy which included that of a sexual nature and that if an elder or ms violated a law then the payout would not qualify.

Disfellowshipped people are dead people?
by snugglebunny inskimming though my iphone earlier today i came across a fb post - which i now can't find!.
basically it was a claim that a gb member had stated that associating with a disfellowshipped person was akin to sleeping next to a corpse.. so obviously i'm curious as to whether anyone else has come across this..

P.E. ewwwhhhh...what the?
And Blonde my undead worldly vampire spouse is the best time I've ever had!!
And I agree with village , how awesome ... all us corpses haunt the Warwick place on Halloween with a zombie sit in...(btw, the name eerily the name reminds me of Bewitched for some reason....)
The mental disease is theirs (GB) for comparing honest people (who disagree with psycho policies) to people deserving death or the death of a non jw loved one. What sickos for wishing that on someone and boasting on that for any reason

You Can Encourage An Inactive Christian!
by Yesu Kristo Bwana Wangu inhttps://www.jw.org/en/publications/jw-meeting-workbook/april-2017-mwb/meeting-schedule-apr10-16/encourage-inactive-christian/.
this is part of the clam meeting this week.. how contradictory is it?.
first, they instruct people to avoid inactive ones and to shun them and to treat them the same as da'd or df'd ones, .

Drearyweather, I'm inactive and shunned by all except my parents, who are more distant then when I was active. My family includes several elders and pioneers. They can't get over the fact that I don't attend anymore (I'm a former bethelite, international construction worker and pioneer and I've risked my life refusing a blood transfusion), and I've explained to them that due to the child abuse legal and policy issues as well as controversial doctrine changes I can't wrap my head around (which somehow Makes me a spiritual loser according to wt because I can't shrug off the nagging thoughts due to seeing through the bs) so that I can't go in service and teach strangers what I can't even believe anymore for obvious reason the family agrees with even. Deep down they know I'm right, but the cognitive dissonance kicks in hard and it's easier for them to just shun me then be reminded that they could be wrong. I mentioned the above activities, because the CD is louder as they know I was all in and zealous for the "truth"; now I'm not and it confuses them, so it's easier for them to justify themselves to themselves by shunning in the form of "marking" so I'm out of sight out of mind. It gets hard because my nephew is looking forward to the birth of his first child, I'm not invited to any family gatherings etc. and we were all super close. But I am unable to fake it, so I am shunned because I choose it to live in truth. As far as wt policy, I think some convention talks addressed shunning inactive recently as well as it is ingrained in the wt social culture and reinforced by dubs like my family who are held as examples' so if they do it to me, others will follow their example and do it to others.
They don't even invite my kids to memorial anymore. I don't attend for about 6 years now. My last one was very surreal and very void of uplifting spirituality as described in comments above. Lots of just going through the motion and get out so we can go to dinner. I live in socal and most people seem to enjoy the memorial as an occasion to dress up and visit, believing they are doing the right thing. I was highly disturbed when I read freemasonry rituals involving passing the emblems and not partaking called the black mass which seemed pretty similar to the jw celebration and so I'd rather not be a part of rejecting Jesus even unknowingly. It seems there is some truth to giving away energy in rituals, at least according to esoteric sources. So, I'd rather just leave it all behind and be the kind of person Jesus taught us to be, kind, compassionate, courageous, truthful and willing to reject religious dogma that seekers to diminish and control the sheep.
Blessings to all of you who are caught in the middle with family still "in" and those fading; it's emotionally hard. Each should do what your gut tells you to do' fade, go all out, or participate for the love of family members who would be shattered to leave. It's very personal for each one of us. a bethel sister once told me when faced with an illness, "knowledge is power and chases away fear, so go get informed and you'll know what you need to do." Great advice, so research , observe and witness what is happening around you without judgement and you will be able to discern truth. With that you will create and maintain your own personal power and navigate the cult.

11. How can we show our support for the Messianic King? (From book study last night)
by NikL inthe study was on how wt has refined itself over the years by ceasing celebrations of christmas etc.. paragraph 11.
11 what a fine example those faithful bible students set for us!
reflecting on their example, we do well to ask ourselves: ‘how do i view the direction we receive from headquarters?

I'm laughing at the word "headquarters".. really? Reporting to headquarters for orders from the slave... just sounds so hokey like a line from a 70's tv comedy .

July's watchtower leaves out some important info from a quote!
by stavro injerome over on discuss the truth has picked up on something interesting.. in the july watchtower on page 28 of the article entitled “winning the battle for your mind” the following statement is made “keep in mind that satan does not want you to think clearly or reason things out well.
because propaganda is likely to be most effective, says one source, if people… are discouraged from thinking critically.”.
the quote comes from a book entitled: “media and society in the twentieth century: a historical introduction by lyn gorman, david mclean" the watchtower however, chose to leave out a portion of the quote.. the full quote is "therefore, it is likely to be most effective if people do not have access to multiple sources of information and if they are discouraged from thinking critically.. the following sentence which the watchtower also decided was best not to include states,.

"Forced" study with an Elder - The first question i will pose, help appreciated.
by CitizenofEarth inhello folks.
as some of you might know my dad couldnt keep quiet about my view of the world, so i have been "forced" to study with an elder.
otherwise i would be dragged to questioning, which is to much pressure for a young inexperienced person like me.

Oh and remember that you posed the question of the 144k to him... let him answer and just tell him you appreciate him making the effort to help you understand. Don't give him your opinion or say more then he asks, just nod and say huh I can see that or just, I don't get it... but don't argue the doctrine. Let him do all the teaching. If he asks you your feelings say you sorta understand what he's saying but you probably need some time for what he said to sink in and you'll keep studying to build up your faith.

Good advice all, I agree it's best to play along too as you are complying to keep peace with the folks, but if you do bring up controversial subjects always ask questions like, ?what do you think of this or that? That way the elder is defending his belief and not challenging yours. If he turns it on you just say huh, I'm not sure ...I was just wondering and drop it. It's best not to try to argue facts, just stay humble it'll feed his ego and you'll demonstrate the right attitude to him. One obvious question that's not so in your face that festered with me was in the revelation book when all those district assemblies supposedly fulfilled the trumpet blasts in revelation. You could say, bro elder, I totally don't get it, what's the deal with the assemblies having anything to do with revelation prophecy? Could you tell me about how that works? if it gets weird you just say, I'll just have to pray about that but I appreciate your point, thank you. But ask for help to understand the stuff and just act willing to be teachable, in that way maybe he'll choke on some of the crazy doctrine himself and you'll still be able to maintain peace in your situation without compromising your own thinking ability.
